True Score: 3.0 Stars I want to love the Rhino. I really do. The food is typical bar food which means if you get anything fried, it's going to be ok because it's hard to screw that up. The presentation and flavor leaves a lot to be desired for everything else. Average Bloody Mary was not worth the hype of all the toppings they advertised (most of which were forgotten). Probably the worst of it for me is that there seemed to be a spider problem. We saw four white medium size spiders while we were there. One dropped onto the booth from the ceiling while I was eating. I always want to support the local businesses but probably won't be back for food. Maybe as a watering hole for cheap drinks! Thanks read more

Awesome local spot with great bar food and cold drinks. I collect rhinos and rhino things, so this was an absolute MUST stop for me. The bartender was really nice, I ordered all the rhino things off the menu - an electric blue rhino martini which was very sweet and very blue. Not my favorite, I moved on to beer after that. I also got the rhino nachos - their totchos are no longer available, but made them for me with french fries (since they no longer carry tater tots). In all, I had a blast. Good food, fun location, and well priced. Parking is street parking - the location is a very residential area. There's a small lot across the street from the tavern that I noticed some people were parking in, so that may work for you too. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible based on the bartender. But I won't. About a year or two ago, I Was insulted by the blonde bartender repeatedly, who was a slob to begin with. She was trying to be funny, but she was too busy sweating mayonnaise to get real shots in. In fact, went there once with my ex, and as we were leaving the slob asked if my ex would mind if someone else finished her mixed drink (which was fine). But like, why not just give it to the drunk she was handing it to and not make a big deal? Welcome to the Locks! Owner and her son are nice enough, but hopefully this trash is now gone. I'd be happy to go back if she's not there and re-rate. I hate doing this, but she was the worst I've ever experienced. Otherwise food was fine for a local l/dive bar. Drinks were fine. read more

OK, I had lunch here today and had a tremendous time. The Hungry Rhino is a neighborhood bar-restaurant with absolutely 0% pretension and 100% characters. It was people watching paradise today! Two guys were at the bar engaged in a loud discussion that ranged from the price of a bus "ya know, a big bus like a Peter Pan bus", the price of RVs, and I swear to God, the price of helicopters ("nah, I mean a big one, not one of them two seaters"). Then they turned the conversation to sports and explained how they hated when the Red Sox were on the road on the West Coast and the games start at ten o'clock -"Jesus Christ, I can't stay up that late". I was smiling and laughing like crazy! Then this young woman walked in wearing a humongous straw hat and a gigantic back-pack and took a seat at the bar. She looked like she was either on her way to, or on her way back from the airport. She joined in the conversation which now had turned to the price of horses. Running the bar and taking my lunch order was a super nice woman named Jennifer who was as sweet as sweet could be. She was wearing a New York Yankee shirt in a place dripping with Red Sox paraphernalia. She called me "hon", and I'm a sucker for that. I ordered a bowl of chili ($5.99) and a small salad ($3.99). I enjoyed the chili, it was loaded with meat but didn't have much spice to it. The salad was very good too, very fresh veggies and a wonderfully zippy Chipotle Ranch dressing. I used to frequent the former proprietor, Stella's, which served a limited menu of mostly Polish food, and was more of a local pub. Shame on me for not trying The Hungry Rhino (THR) before today. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries to go. They mentioned that the order would be ready in 20 minutes, and it was ready a few minutes early. The burger, advertised as 8 oz on a brioche bun, was excellent. As good, or better, than a lot of the more well-known pubs in the area. Perfectly cooked, and a substantial bun that didn't fall apart OR overwhelm the burger. The fries were just ok, nothing special. THR is open for limited hours at this time. They don't really have the capability to provide outdoor seating, and the menu is reduced....BUT definitely worth a visit. I look forward to ordering again. read more

One name.... Chelsea! Stopped at the place on our way back from MA based on Yelp reviews. It's like a hipster dive bar and I love the decor. We walked in and immediately met Chelsea the bartender. She let us choose our seats and let us know they had games for kids to play like Lego, for sure beats cheap crayons and a placemat (although we like those too). We got there right after they opened and my daughter (who is 3) and I watched Chelsea do the bar set up while my husband and son went to the bathroom. She talked to us while she set up and let Nova have a cherry; by the end of our meal Nova had 4.....very generous! The Bavarian pretzel was really good and I had a strawberry mango margarita that was also really good. Our meals were OK. I still give 5 stars because truly Chelsea, the staff and even the locals create an atmosphere that is so welcoming and comfortable, you want to stay there all day. You can understand why they have so many regulars. When we were leaving, they were just starting to get busy and even still the cook came out and introduced herself to us and was so friendly. We do not live close to here but if we are ever in the area, we would definitely go again. Also we witnessed a cool situation. A man came in who lost his phone and needed to get to the airport. Chelsea got him an Uber and gave him something to drink. It was nice to see people be nice and help someone in need. We had a really great experience! read more

Wow, what a hidden gem. First of all, rhino has been my favorite animal since adolescence so had to come here. Trent was working the bar area and recommended the corn beef egg rolls. Damn, so delicious. Such a unique flavor and amazing. Never had anything like it. Wife ordered the fish n chips and devoured it. She didn't even share cuz they were so good. I had the black n bleu burger. The flavor was perfect. Probably the best black and bleu I have ever had. It was so juicy and packed with bleu cheese crumbles,excellent. Also had the Freight Train drink. Packs a punch but very good. Wife fell in love with the Snickertini and raved about how good it was. Definitely will come back next time in town. read more

So happy I decided to come here. This place is as local as it gets and I dig it. It's located, from what I saw, in a residential area and there is little parking so I parked on the street. Parking rules are strictly enforced and there are more than enough signs pointing this out. When I walked in, I felt like I had been there 100 times before. All staff members were friendly and kind. I had a lovely lemon drop martini and ordered the southwest salad. On the salad, my bad, I forgot to hold the bacon, otherwise it was delicious, especially the dressing. The portions sizes here are generous and you won't leave hungry. This isn't a fancy or uptight place, but it is perfectly comfortable and probably exactly what you want for a casual night out. The prices are great and food quality is solid. I was staying overnight in the area to catch a very early flight and needed something good and simple and this place checked those boxes perfectly. read more

Boneless wing are awesome. So many sauce choices and hefty servings. Dining room is so charming and friendly. Loved Golden Tee and PAC Man. Great sot for a casual meal and hang out with family. Staff is INCREDIBLY friendly and warm. I think they checked on us 6x to make sure we had what we needed. Fun beer selection and bar was lively and fun. Great find! read more

I've been driving by The Hungry Rhino since they opened a few years ago. Finally stopped in to have dinner with my friend. Nice neighborhood bar with good pub food. The draft beer offerings are the usual but I was happy to have a City Steam Naughty Nurse and a Counterweight Headway, not too shabby. I had a Guinness Brat on a pretzel roll that was very good but a little on the small size. It came with fries that were very good. My friend got a small portion of Boneless Tenders from the Bar Bites. I didn't count them, but there were so many she couldn't finish them and she took some home. The bar area is a tad noisy, but there is a quieter section in an adjoining room. I'll be back, for sure. read more

It was a rainy, gross Saturday, and all I wanted was surefire comfort food lunch--like a grilled cheese and great fries kind of thing. But I didn't want us to drive out to east of nowhere to get it...and yet nothing local called to me. I jumped on Yelp to see where we could go that sounded good & was pretty close...and The Hungry Rhino looked like a sound choice. We parked in the lot across the side street and walked into a cozy little bar with a few booths. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender/waitress who also informed us there was more seating in the next room. Off we went (no offense to the bar patrons, but we had life-stuff to chat about, and the back room was quieter). My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich with some kind of funky fries which name eludes me at the moment. I ordered a BLT with regular fries. We requested brioche buns for each. Our waitress asked us "Red Sox or Yankees?" To which we answered, "Yes!" (Hubbyy--Sox fan, Me-- Yankees all the way). She adjusted the TVs accordingly. lol. Before ya know it, we had two hot plates of freshly cooked food in front of us! I gotta tell you, I've been a strict vegetarian for almost 2 decades. Lately, I've decided to try meats again on the very rare occasion to see if I would like them. (I went veg because I've hated the taste of meat since I was a kid.) While I ordered the BLT, I thought I'd take off the "B," give it to my bacon-lovin' hubby, and just chow the "LT." But no. stinkin'. way. I bit into that brioche BLT and wasn't sharing. It was delish, and like I said...I am not otherwise a big fan of bacon. The fries were also cooked to perfection. Ahhhh. Just what I wanted...comfort food. My husband loved his pulled pork, and those funky fries were excellent (hey, I had to try a few). He had a couple beers, I had an unsweetened iced tea, and we put away every last crumb of our lunch. We filled our bellies for just under $30 (and that's with 2 beers for my husband), and felt that was a real steal for delicious food! Another fabulous thing about The Hungry Rhino? The service. I have not had this level of personal, genuine, caring eatery service in...dear goodness, way too long...if ever?? Our waitress was friendly, warm, inviting, attentive, and she made us feel like newfound family. That is rare indeed! Even more rare, she shook our hands, gave us her name (okay, I can't even recall the funky fries name, so forgive me if I butcher this)...Janet...and even introduced us to her husband, Bob, who was behind the bar. (So sorry if I am way off on the names. My brain melted this summer.) Just really good folks who care about their business AND their customers. I went to the Hungry Rhino on St Patrick's weekend. It was very busy but the atmosphere was loud, yet pleasant since I was sitting in the bar area. I was given a menu, decided what I wanted, and ordered. My dinner was served in a reasonable wait time, and it was delicious. The individuals who took the order, served the meal were very friendly. My bar appetizers of pretzels and garden salad were very satisfying. it was a quiet Saturday night for a bar setting, but I was happy not to share the restaurant with a bunch of drunk loud people. Tried the Hungry Rhino for the first time today after our six flags visit. My son said the food was amazingly delicious the staff was soooo nice! We finally made it to The Hungry Rhino this week and boy are we glad we did! We love the fact that it's a local family owned (I assume since it's not a chain) restaurant. We drive by here daily but just haven't had a chance to stop in. I recommend checking them out on FB as they have all their events and up to date information listed! So there is some limited street parking on Main St., however it's the main street in WL, so I wouldn't personally park there, they have a lot on the side street across from the restaurant, that's rocks/gravel and more than enough cars can fit. It was a rainy Tuesday night that we came in, we stayed on the bar side of the restaurant, where there was 3 booths, the bar, and plenty of bar games - not too many folks in the restaurant, but we weren't surprised considering how ugly it was outside. The menu is really good - with a wide variety of bar food - from apps, to burgers, to plates. At the recommendation of Yelp, we got the corned beef egg rolls ($8.99) - husband LOVED them, i really liked them too - egg rolls just aren't my thing, but I plan to try their pretzel and tatchos (tater tot nachos) next time! Hubby ended up with a burger ($11.99) - pretty standard fair, but tasted great and was exactly what he wanted. I ordered the fish and chips ($12.99) - and these were amazing! Both came with shoe string fries which were also VERY DELICIOUS. Something super nice about the food - it all came out HOT HOT, like it was so good that we could not wait for it all to coll down. The fish was perfectly battered, not too oily and tasted GREAT. We were also lucky enough to meet Janet, not sure if she is the owner or not, but she was SO friendly and extremely attentive, and let us know that we'd typically see her there if we came back and also advised of all the fun events they have -which pointed us to the FB. We absolutely will be back - they have tap takovers, wine nights, live music, other events - we can't wait to visit again! Discover card accepted which is a plus for me. read more

We stopped here just to grab a bite and didn't expect much. We were pleasantly surprised. They had just opened so no one was in there. The waitress was nice and attentive. The atmosphere fun and eclectic. We ordered a few apps to share including the glick, jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese wrapped in bacon. I was super excited about these but disappointed. The bacon wasn't crispy at all. The jalapeños were super fresh which was nice. They stayed crunchy instead of the mushy fried version. The mac & jack bites were good. Wish places near by made them. The nachos were a hit as well as the burger (my daughter said I was really good) and the fries....A MUST!!! Worth a stop if you're in town. read more

This is a wonderful local bar. The food and drinks are delicious with wonderful staff to boot. Especially, Rosie, she took care of us the entire night and made us feel welcome. My family of 6 went to Hungry Rhino for dinner. We waited 15 minutes for a waiter to show up to order drinks and appetizers. The drinks came quickly, but the appetizer never got there. We waited another half hour for him to come back to take our dinner order and that was only after we flagged him down. After spending more than an hour waiting for our appetizer and dinner, we asked someone from the kitchen where our order was and they said it was never put in. So we had sat there for over an hour waiting for an order that was never submitted. Needless to say we got up and left without having our dinner. We will never go back again. Veronica T read more

It's a bar really. The restaurant area was covered in boxes as if they were using that area for storage or packing. Out of all the options in the area this is probably a good choice but the food is meh. I don't think we would go here again as the waiters couldn't remember orders nor was the food very good. I drive by this place almost every day, and I've been wanting to try it for a few years. My husband, son and I went there tonight and I felt ripped off! First the wings.my husband knew as soOn as he saw them tgey were ttooo light and no crispness. He saId they had that "slimy Tyson taste". Extra for blue cheese? After the $9.99?on 10? No big complaints from my son on tHe steak and cheEse sandwich, but theY charged Extra $1, for onion rings. THats fine if the sandwich looked like it was worth the $9.99, but it was really small. That was the only side. Some places for that price have two sides. My husband's burger was bland. I ate half becauSe my flatbread was inedible. The "Mediterranean" flatbread had tart sauce, tiny pieces of chicken ( like on a frozen pizza), chedder cheese,red onion, black olives. No Greek would call that Mediterranean! The flatbread was soft and not crisp. Worst ever. Only good thing was the chocolate beer stout. Probably because this is a bar with a restaurant attached.
