HH menu changes every Monday! But notice how it starts at 4:30? It ends when they close (during the month of October)!
    Tiffany G.

What if I had only been here for the all you can eat prime rib on Saturdays (which started in November, and we went twice for it in November; there would've likely been a third time if it weren't for an abundance of Thanksgiving leftovers in the fridge the last Saturday of the month)? It would be 5 stars all the way! But, I've had other experiences here, none bad, but unfortunately not all of the food is worthy of that 5th star, IMO. But hey, 4 stars is still really great and I am a regular here! And, in true confessions fashion, I suppose I should admit all of the other food I'm referring to is from the happy hour/specials menus. To be fair, I do have to say the management is awesome! If anything isn't right and Amanda and/or Ashley are aware of it, they'll absolutely fix it for you and make sure you're satisfied. My first experience was on a beautiful day in October for happy hour, so we were able to sit on the great patio on the edge of the golf course. It was relaxing and gorgeous out. I was afraid service would be slow and that they'd forget about us out there, but that definitely was not the case. I tried two of the happy hour drinks and was glad they weren't watered down. One didn't taste great, but hey, that can happen when you try something new. I also had the Frito Nachos (small plate of nachos but with Fritos instead of tortilla chips) and they were ok. I ate them all, but I'm not likely to order them again. It seemed like $5 worth and was just something to munch on during happy hour with drinks. My friend had the empanadas, and felt the same way about them. During Taco Thursday on another visit, they had a $3 veggie quesadilla. This was a good deal and tasted good, but when I asked for salsa, I was told they don't have any. How do you have a taco day, fajitas and quesadillas regularly on your menu and not carry salsa? They did offer sour cream, but I prefer my calories from drinks and dessert. They have pico de gallo which could be a salsa substitute, but if you don't love raw onions (like me), then there's only so much of the stuff you can take. With salsa for dipping, these quesadillas would have been amazing! We've also done the all you can eat wings and nachos for $12 on Wednesday evenings, and it's a good deal, but I tried one nacho and would never order these. Please, bring on the wings for $12! The nachos are made on potato chips. I prefer tortilla chips and don't want nachos any other way. It's a classic appetizer, tried and true, and potato chips isn't an improvement on an already good thing. But what you must try here is the all you can eat prime rib! In November, we went for the first night and knew as soon as we got our first plate that $19.99 was such a deal! Everything from the salads to the cooked veggies to the mashed potato bar and prime rib was delicious! I was half expecting boxed potatoes and frozen veggies and ice berg lettuce in the salad for this price, but there was absolutely nothing like that! Everything was delicious and I'll gladly go back for this again even though they (rightfully) increased the price to $24.99 for this Saturday night special in December. It's so worth it. And to top it all off, they offer red and white bottles for only $15 during the prime rib special! It's not the same bottle every week so you never know what it'll be, but for $15 you can't be too picky (and none have been awful).

Attractive brick structure for restaurant and pro shop

We decided try the Sunday brunch at the Tavern which we had visited previously for an adult beverage after a round of golf at Keney Park. Considering the financial difficulties of the city of Hartford it is amazing how the rehabilitation of the golf course and restaurant facility came together to create a fabulous venue. The restaurant has a very nice dining room/bar area including a large working fireplace and, of course, outdoor seating areas with views of the course. The food was very good and the waitstaff were exceptionally nice. A great place for our brunch and certainly a place to try for lunch or dinner. They plan to be open even when the golf course is closed.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood... sat on the terrace under a red umbrella and shared a lunch with two lovely ladies. One chose the Par Three dog with sweet potato fries and the other the Kitchen Sink salad with grilled chicken. I had the Strawberry and Beet salad with a delectable dressing which I thought was a bit scanty. It turned out to be the perfect amount and the perfect taste to meld these two unlikely foods together. Dessert for each us was the fun Good Humour Bar; theirs chocolate Eclair and mine Toasted Almond.

Based on my last review, I'm surprised I even came back to this place. I had no idea this is where my colleagues wanted to have lunch as I didn't drive there and spent my time on my phone versus watching where we were driving to. We ended up here and I sighed immensely. I was hoping for the best but wasn't expecting much if anything at all from them. I was pleased to see the waitress was extremely warm and tended to us quickly, granted it was pretty empty in there. I got the tuna melt and added a fried egg and avocado to it which was $5 extra, so freaking ridiculous. I got onion rings as my side and they were quite good. Overall my dining this time around was much better. Still won't come back here.

    Brussel sprout salad. Meatless!!!

What I liked. #1 The service #2 The atmosphere #3 The views #4 Potential spot for a large event. I ordered the portobello mushroom burger and my husband ordered the turkey club. Everything looked great as it was brought to our table. Sadly, both of our grilled breads were excessively greasy. My favorite part of my meal was my Brussel sprout salad "upgrade". ( meatless too! ) They have a list of items you can add to your meal they call "upgrades" such as French fries, sweet potato fries, Brussel sprout salad. Honestly for the price of the sandwich it should at least come with french fries and not just potato chips. My husband said his fries were soggy and he hardly ate them. I am disappointed because I was really looking forward to trying out this place. Perhaps we just hit it on a bad day? I wouldn't discourage you from trying this restaurant. You might have a completely different experience. That being said, I do want to go back in the warmer weather because they have plenty of outdoor seating and the view is probably beautiful that time of year. They have limited vegetarian options.

I can't say enough about this amazing find. When you turn in from the street it's a long and winding road with beautiful trees all around until you get to the parking lot with a very short walk to the restaurant. I sat on the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course. I tried the burger with homemade potato chips and a couple of cold Michelob ultra's. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great spot to go on Wednesday nights for comedy night and Friday nights there is music.

So glad I decided to try this place for Sunday brunch! We sat in the terrace area which had a fireplace, space heater and a great view. I had the Open-Faced Brisket 'n Eggs, Bloody Mary and the Good Morning Rita. The brisket was amazingly tender and so flavorful, eggs cooked to perfection and the potatoes were delicious, seasoned well and had the right amount of crisp while still being soft, yum!! Beverages were just eh, but I did over hear they had a new trainee bartender. Can't wait to return!

    View from the patio.

And GPS brought me to Ranch House in East Hartford. This is just to tell you, that if you want the OG that has been open since 1950, you need to go to the one in Windsor, which is conveniently located next to 91. The building and surrounding area, have likely seen better days. There is more trash outside than there should be. The inside is fine, but nobody was eating there. The hot dog I had was good. They didn't have many specialty dogs. I ordered the KMOR, which was just Ketchup, Mustatd, Onion and Relish. The dog was a grilled Bogner. Not cut. The bun was grilled. A good dog. It was clear that they have some loyal fans. 3.75 Stars overall, but the dog was a solid 4.

We returned for Father's Day and we were seated immediately without a reservation, though I think we just got lucky so I don't recommend this. We all shared the warm olives, the croquet poulet sandwich, the fries, the quiche lorraine, the chateubriand, the roasted beets, and the strawberry ice cream. It was all a hit, and when a 3.5-year-old and a 22-month-old are enjoying your food without any coaxing or help, you know it's fabulous! My husband got some cocktail and I got the phony Negroni mocktail. Service was great and the atmosphere is chic without being uptight or snobby at all. We all left really happy. I still dream about that sandwich. I'd love to go back and try other things on the menu. I'm sure they knock everything out of the park. I am hoping Le Mazet will be our special occasion restaurant.

Among myself, my husband and young toddler we destroyed this. My daughter was eating so much of this steak and so were we! It was sooo tender and we loved the gravy on top. The fries were amazing and when they were drenched in that gravy it was chefs kiss! What really brought it all the together was the salad paired with it- it was light and refreshing and the dressing was so good! For dessert our server suggested the chocolate custard so we got that and a berry handpie. We ate both and kept saying "oh my god" with each bite. My daughter especially loved the chocolate custard but my husband and I loved both equally! We immediately said after our meal how we have to come back. The drinks are garnished with fresh flowers and slices of lemon or cucumber, making them feel extra special. Even the food is served with colorful touches like a slice of orange and a strawberry on a skewer, showing they really pay attention to the details. My kids enjoyed an orange juice and an apple juice. I ordered the mango dragonfruit lemonade, and it was refreshing, flavorful, and the perfect drink for a warm day. For my meal, I had the avocado toast topped with an egg and crispy bacon. It was fresh, filling, and absolutely delicious. The boys loved their meals too. It's decent food but not the greatest. I get it, it's fine dining but not all the flavors were there. Three of us paid almost $800, so, yes, I was expecting to be blown away with my tastebuds in overdrive but my tastebuds were underwhelmed. Started off with canapés: east coast oysters (green grape granita); could've used sprinkle of salt. Beef tartar (green garlic kimchi aioli, lime, mint, anchovy breadcrumbs); needed more salt, very bland with little flavor & carrot veloute (coconut milk, red curry, cilantro, peanuts), very delicious and flavorful. 1st course: Hamachi Crudo (celery, sorrel, green apple), needed salt. 2nd course: Foie Gras Torchon (black mission fig, five spice, brioche bun). Brioche was extremely dry and cold, not buttery and soft like a brioche should be. 3rd course: Mackerel (thompcord grape, lardo, smoked yogurt); extremely fishy and unpleasant. Grapes were sweet and delicious and smoked yogurt and lardo didn't contribute anything great. 4th course: Chestnut Tortellini (browned sage butter) was great! 5th course: Dry Aged Rohan Duck Presse (beet, huckleberry, port jus) was underwhelming. Breast was cooked to right temperature but skin was super fatty and soggy. As an avid duck eater, I think a crispy skin and more seasoning in the actually meat would've been nice. It needed salt for sure to enhance the flavors but the roasted and pickled beets were delicious. The port just didn't do much for flavor and huckleberry was delicious and could've used more of it. 6th course: A5 Wagyu Ribeye (roasted daikon, black garlic bordelaise, hen of woods) very delicious in every aspect. The black garlic bordelaise brought this entire dish together with its incredible flavor! I wish the bordelaise was served with the duck as well! 7th course: Foie Gras Ice Cream & Apple Tarte. Interesting ice cream flavor by itself but eaten with the apple tarte it worked well. The tarte had crispy bits of caramel that added great texture and flavor. Ambiance is beautiful on the 20th floor overlooking Hartford. I'm sure it's beautiful during sunset. Again, I wish I was blown away like others have been. Maybe my expectations are too high, I'm not sure. I'm neutral as I am unsure if I would recommend this establishment. I do know that I wouldn't return.
