I have had locks rekeyed, adjustments to locks/doors that are out of alignment, etc. I've always spoken on the phone with Adam and Dan has been the locksmith on site. Reached out to have our locks rekeyed. We just bought a house built on the 1950s and they were able to come out a rekey all the locks (we were worried they might be too old to rekey). Before they came out we had 3-4 keys and once they were done we only had 2, which was great! The locks work great and there haven't been any issues with the keys at all. The repair of my lock could not have gone more smoothly. I requested a quote from Windy City Lock & Key online on a Sunday evening, and they responded within 15 minutes or so. I scheduled an arrival time for between 11:30 and 12:30 the following day (today), and the repairman was here at 11:40. He was incredibly professional and optimistic about the job the entire time, and he even explained everything to me as he went about his work. He was here for about 20 minutes total, left my door/lock in perfect working condition, and I was charged exactly what I had been quoted. I would absolutely recommend that you use this company. June 2020. A Windy City knight-in-shining-armor story. My mom is on home hospice and it's emotionally ravaging. I took a walk to clear my head and lost my keys-locking me out/mom and dog in. Building manager called a vendor locksmith who got me in by picking lock after nearly two hours of panic time. He left. Once inside, I used my spare to lock the deadbolt but then the bolt broke and I was now locked inside. I called four 24/hour locksmiths-tried to go local as I'm in Western suburbs. Two never responded. One locksmith barely spoke English, wanted more than $200 and was more than an hour away. Then I got Adam. He helped me dismantle the complicated, vintage Schlage deadbolt lock so I could get out - spent a half hour on the phone with me. Then Dan showed up (wearing a mask, thank you) to replace pins and repair the lock during a medical emergency with my mom. He quickly finished and gave me two replacement keys. I was borderline hysterical during all of this and they were extremely knowledgable, patient, responsive, fairly-priced and sensitive to the issues I was facing. Really good service. They came out and installled a top lock on my door. Looks good and works well. The tech even cleaned up after himself. Very neat and professional. I gave them 4 stars because they were late by 40 minutes. They did redeem themselves with excellent service though. I would use again. Next time I'll plan to wait an extra 45vminutes. read more
