I stopped by this store few times to get some wine and spirits for work. They have a gigantic collection of all kinds of wine and hard liquor alcohol. All well known brands are available here. They sell tiny bottles of different brand alcohol as well. They do not have much beer at all, maybe couple of kind I saw. The store is very clean and easy to navigate. Prices are clearly marked. This is a store that moved from a different location, so it seems they have some regular established clientele. It's very clean and the employees are helpful, warming up a lot when they recognize you (some are nicer than others). They have a basic selection of each type of alcohol with good selection of wines for the size of the space. They have a few super cheap options in boxed wine, rum, vodka, cordials, and whiskey that you can use for office events. I think they have corporate accounts for large orders. If you're in the neighborhood during the evening, stop by, they do tastings often. read more

Manor House Cellar is just an average wine/liquor store as Astro Winery is much better. I needed to buy a bottle to attend a brunch/dinner party at a good friend's home. To capture my intrigue Manor House has Bitch wine from Grateful Palate Imports imported from Australia which was originally my gag gift. However, I resorted to another brand which is also from Australia. Manor House Cellars does not have knowledgeable sales associates with expertise in wine or wine grapes, thus the three star rating. read more

Manor House Cellar used to be my go-to for wine and one of the better liquor stores in the Chelsea area--conveniently located across the street from Trader Joe's and very friendly service by NYC standards. I have been a regular customer for awhile As of late however, it seems that they have equated New York's plastic bag ban with a ban on any bag with HANDLES (maybe their business is so lucrative that they can afford to take a car everywhere and have somehow forgotten that the rest of NYC walks and takes public transit)... the only bag they now provide is a tissue-paper thin doggie bag--which makes it nearly impossible to negotiate groceries, wine and the subway. Tonight, I left with two bottles of wine (which I had to cram into my already nearly-full Trader Joe's bag). I didn't even make it a block down 6th avenue before the handles ripped off and one of the bottles shattered along with my groceries spilling everywhere. Probably should have gone back and demanded a refund, but frankly I was just happy that I only lost one bottle, and that a stranger helped me go get another bag from Trader Joe's. Will have to bring my own bag or find an alternative... read more

You come for the wine tastings, and you don't wanna leave. This isn't really my neighborhood, but a friend was manning the wine-decks. So I stopped in. Riesling, Shiraz, Merlot, Malbac... I'll take a bit of each though I lean towards a shiraz for sure. They also had pasta with sausage tomato sauce on offer, but I passed on this bit. read more

The woman who was at the cash register was one of the nastiest person I've dealt with. She was acting as if I was lucky she was selling something to me. The saving grace was the young man who helped me pick out the wine I wanted. I will never go back to this store and I would tell others not to either. I work sandwiched between two liquor stores on 23rd street, but I usually end up walking over to Manor House. They've always helped me find wine, even when I could only describe what the label on it looks like and nothing more. They usually have a wine or liquor tasting on the weekend, and I find that I usually end up buying what they sample. The cashier staff seems to change quite often. I would like to go there one day and not have to whip out my ID, but hey what can you do? read more

Ignored me when I knew what I wanted, but it was on a high shelf that I couldn't reach, but after trying to figure out if I could get it myself (ladder, stepstool?), the two guys at the reception IN CLEAR VIEW still did not get the hint. So I got a guy to help me. Things got better. When realizing my buy was a gift, he offered immediately to wrap it for me, complete with shiny silver and a ribbon. Stopped in for a bottle of wine when I was in this area and too lazy/cold to trek down to the Trader Joe's Wine Store. The store offers a vast selection of wines, organized by region, and a tasting was going on when I stopped by. Prices were pretty decent as well. Nothing really stood out and wowed me but I found a nice red to keep my company that night. Good local place to have around. read more

I like it in here. It's decently priced and there's a pretty big selection of wines. They also seem to always have some kind of sale on wine, so that you can get a decent bottle for under $10. I am pretty sure they do tastings here and there. But on the downside, the staff seems really unfamiliar with what's in their store. If I ask about a certain kind of wine, I generally just get the "oh that? That's really good" response, which is a bit annoying. If I were to actually throw them a curve ball and ask what to drink if I were having a certain meal, I'd probably get no help at all. Great location, though. read more

This is the closest liquor store for me, and the staff is very nice and helpful. They do offer delivery, but their website is lacking. They are a bit overpriced but I guess it goes with the neighborhood. When I order in bulk I usually resort to Astor Wines or Beacon Wines, but Manor House is good for picking stuff up on the way home. read more

Wish I could give them zero stars. Went in a week early to place an order for two cases for an event I was hosting. Guy told me to come back Friday or Monday (my event was the following Wednesday) to pick it up. I go in Friday, it's not there. I go in Monday, still not there but he'll call me and let me know for sure. I had to call him later that day and ask if my order would be ready. Nope. They clearly forgot to put in the order. So they lucked out of a $250 sale. Worst customer service, not even a "sorry" or a "my mistake." Do NOT go here if you need to order something, odds are, it will never get ordered. read more

Manor House is in a convenient location and has a decent selection. Their prices do not compare to some larger stores, and I have found them to be generally overpriced. However, you have to consider the location and the size of the store. I am giving them 4 stars because I recently stopped in to get a gift. I usually go in for cheaper bottles and end up finding something ranging from decent to good. This time, I needed something to impress for someone who knows a lot about wine. The gentleman who helped me was very polite and knowledgeable. I was considering a more expensive bottle and he directed me to a bottle that was a little less expensive and, according to him, much better. When I gave the bottle to my friend, he was extremely impressed and said it was one of the better wines he's had. Without the employee's help, I would never have thought of this bottle. Exellent little spot no more than 5 minutes away from where I work. This is where I come for higher end liquor, i've yet to come across another seller with the same quantity of top shelf products at standard prices. AJ was extremely friendly and very helpful!
