We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

The SUV was roomy and clean and he even had bottles of water on ice ready to go. Which we definitely needed after a few wine stops. Coming into it, I knew nothing about wine and I'm not even sure I knew Michigan had so many wineries and vineyards. We stayed in the Millstone Inn, which is really a quaint, one-bedroom home with kitchenette, and could not ask for a more romantic, private and visually stunning accommodation. It's eighty feet from the St. Joe River and I cannot recall ever feeling such peace and relaxation. I mean not another "worldly" sound to impose on the peaceful tranquility of the surroundings. Plenty of paths to explore. And, of course, there is the breakfast. Theresa and her wonderful staff prepared meals based on our own desires. Simply delicious. We had a hard time leaving it was so perfect. We are already planning our return. You should not wait another minute to book your reservation. I promise, you will not find anything as wonderful as the Morris Estate.

The Blackberry Gin Gimlet had a deep, juicy fruit flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, while the gin brought in that herbal, slightly crisp flavor underneath. The vanilla and cream made it silky and the graham cracker rim finished it off with that buttery sweetness. We happened upon this wide, cool looking brick road. This store front winery had a great name to we headed in. The rooms were bright and fresh. We wandered around to check out their cute swag and met the owner. She said she will be moving soon to an area right by her vineyard. This location has a side yard with a stage. They were getting ready for a band and a grape stomping event. I wish we could have stayed to partake. We did sit down for a tasting. They offered generous pours of 5 tastes for $10 - such a great value. I really enjoyed a couple and bought a bottle of one of them to bring home. The varnished wooden bar was gorgeous. The room was so bright and airy. Our bartender was fantastic too. It was an all around fun afternoon. I highly recommend Chill Hill for a delicious tasting and enjoyable experience.
