A very large group of us went for a wine tasting tour. What I appreciated about this place is they also make their own whiskey and bourbon. The amount of space they have is perfect. They even have igloos for the winter/cold if you want to be outside. They have a space just for wine tasting, a bar upstairs. Then a lovely bourbon bar with tastings. De was great enough to show us this gem. The bourbon bar is a cute space with a couple large tables for groups. Dave made a great expresso martini. Wowza! Our group of 7 women shared 5 tastings so we tried A LOT of wine. We really liked a number of them! The black walnut cream, vanilla cream, and Moscow mule came home with us. The black walnut cream immediately found its way into a McDonald's chocolate shake. Yum yum! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was the service. I don't like that we had to go up and get every tasting. This one, like Tabor Hill, is like a fast food wine tasting. They are all about volume, not great customer service and care. read more

The blueberry wine was sweet but yet so good. Definitely worth getting a bottle for 25 rather than paying each 7+7 for a glass of wine. It's order at the tables but seems like there was an issue with food order but the worker there was kind enough to go check on ours, as it was closing to closing on the food truck. I'm torn on this: The bourbon and cocktail bar is a nice little gem. However, the $25 wine flights were the most expensive of any winery we visited that day (we went to five wineries). The coolest part was that this winery is connected via hiking trails to another winery. So that made it quite fun to visit with our pup! Had a nice girls brunch here on a late Sunday morning and it was a great stop! They had so much seating around the whole property and options to sit and be served or order to go. We chose a nice table in the lawn and enjoyed the music and atmosphere. You do order via your phone which is kind of nice not having to wait for staff but also creates the situation where your food doesn't always come out at the same time. But it was all pretty quick regardless. We enjoyed the pretzels and beer cheese that was very very good. Not sure why it was so good but it was. The Baroda bowl (which is really just nachos) was smothered well in meat and cheese and very satisfying. We also decided to share the dry flight and the fruit flight so we could try more. The flights had great variety and a wide range of flavors. After our time dining, we did an easy stroll on their walking trails on property next to the parking lot, which was very pleasant and actually connected to the neighboring vineyard. Hadn't been here in some years, so my friend and I swung through the gift shop to pick up some wine while in the Baroda area. This place has greatly expanded since I was previously here, with outdoor dining, a food truck etc. Sadly they no longer make the Apple Demi Sec wine I loved, just more standard varietals like Riesling and Chardonnay. Which is rather sad as it loses a bit of that Michigan touch. Neither of the staff I asked even knew what I was talking about and thought it had been at Tabor Hills but nope, my old Yelp review proves me right! It was here. We had just finished our wine flight at the restaurant (wonderful beverages and outstanding service) and decided to take a scenic walk to the Round Barn. The grounds were beautiful and we were excited to be able to sit in one of the igloos. Admittedly, we were a little confused by the hours. There was some inconsistency between what we were told and the actual operating hours. However, we did have time to order a few cocktails and wines. When we were finished, we requested our uber to head back to town. Unfortunately we had difficulty getting one to come back out to the area, so our wait was longer than normal. In an effort to close the grounds, they would not allow us to use the inside restroom. I'm not a fan of portable restrooms, so I decided to try to wait it out. Our driver arrived at 5:30 (after an hour of trying to get a ride), so I decided to go ahead and attempt to use the portapotty. Unfortunately they had locked it and refused to allow me access. I definitely understand that they wanted to go home, but it was incredibly uncomfortable and frustrating. Everything else about our day was mostly perfect, so I decided to give 4 stars. As a tip though, for those who may choose to use alternate forms of transportation, please make sure you are aware of the potential waits for uber and exact closing times. read more

OMG... OMG... let me try you we had the greatest server. We arrived on a Sunday at 11:35am and they opened at 11am; the place was already jumping with people. I feel this is an upscale local bar vibe place because it was just a chill vibe - people dressed up and down; on top of that there was live music. We're planning on coming back next year - anyways let me get started. The mac n' cheese with pull pork (i think) - so good; I go so full and i didn't need to add any seasoning to it. very filling for the size too. They have a variety of drinks... wine, hard liquor, shots, wine flights, and liquor flights; i'm pretty amazed by this place. Gift shop didn't really call to me but everything else did. I literally didn't explore everything i wanted to - did you know they have trails as well? You can walk all through this place and 3 miles down you run into another "sister" business but we didn't visit there because we were fine in this location. GUESS WHAT.... Dogs are welcomed!!! This is huge plus for me since i was camping and couldn't leave her in the car and/or at the campsite alone. They sure do know how to keep customers coming back. Can't wait to visit again in 2023. FOOD/WINE: First time seeing food here. They had a very limited menu on the app, but I think maybe they have a larger menu on some days. The day we were there everything had to be ordered through an app. including the drinks & flights which none of us really liked the app, it gave a very impersonal experience. They also had a taco truck on our visit with food better than what Round Barn serving. Guided Tastings were $25 for 5 choices They had a pre-selected wine and a sangria flight for $15 a piece, it would've been better if you could choose. SERVICE: Service was very fast. Our servers were friendly but it was a little confusing. We had one server that said he was our waiter, but than he disappeared and we didn't see him again. Someone else delivered the drinks, and someone else delivered the food. I guess being a vineyard and not really a restaurant I can understand that this was a convenience, because they did have walk up service available too but they really didn't explain this when we sat down. The elevator was broken so if you had a wheelchair you couldn't go upstairs for a tasting, but they did say anything you wanted to taste anything you wanted could be brought downstairs to you. The ticket booth at entry was not accessible for a wheelchair either. You would need someone else to go up to the window. They had a festival going the day we went with 10 ppl., so they charged a cover charge of $5. Idk if this is normal now, or if it was because of the festival. CLEANLINESS: Most of the areas looked very clean, the east side of the barn was what I was used to seeing a paved seating area, as well as lawn seating and the brewery/distillery building. The west side had additional picnic tables, sofa seating with no cushions and fire pits. The fire pits had bird poop all over them. There was also walk up service there. This area might've been just for the festival. AMBIANCE: It's an enjoyable vibe, with live music on the day we visited. read more

Round Barn is one of our top 3 wineries and one we visit every time we come to Michigan. Whether you go to the tasting room at Union Pier or the Mothership, you will not be disappointed. One change from our last visit is that they moved the warm weather tastings outside. That, coupled with the plastic cups they serve the wine in and that you only get to choose from pre-selected groups, detracts a litte from the traditional tasting experience. Their choice to go in this direction seems logical because of the volume of people they probably serve. The grounds are nice and open with plenty of space to sit. Pro-tip: check out the walking trail that leads to Tabor Hill about a mile away. FYI, the Union Pier location does do traditional tastings. read more

First time visiting and honestly they could improve their customer service. We entered in and didn't really know the system. Were told that we had to order at the register but the menu for the tasting was at the bar, when we walked over to the bar we got yelled at that we had to prepay before being able to go over there. Maybe they should improve on where and when we should pay cause most places take payment at the end. It just felt like if their system is different, they need to be nicer in explaining the whole system. Loved this winery! Very cute venue. The gal who recommended the frozen vodka/wine slushies is my new favorite human. These came in three flavors, we tried the blueberry lavender and raspberry lemonade. If you can't decide, try them both ‍ Would be perfect for any bridal parties or birthday get-togethers. So many great experiences in past years, we were underwhelmed on our most recent visit unfortunately. It was hot and somewhat muggy on the Saturday afternoon that we visited. However, you cannot sit inside anymore to do wine tastings in the summer. Service was friendly but slow - we had to flag down another server to find ours after waiting 30+ minutes for our bill. The only option for wine "tastings" are the pre-selected flights - and that includes the beer flights too (I was bummed!). To top it off, the wine is served in plastic cups, not actual wine glasses. This style might appeal to the masses who come through in the large groups, but it's a turn-off to those who appreciate having a more authentic wine-tasting experience. After Round Barn, we continued on to Dablon where we got that. Appreciated the free token for teachers. read more

Very impressive venue (and winery!) with great outdoor areas to enjoy the scenery! We arrived just in time to grab a drink and enjoy them outdoors while the band finished up. My white sangria was very good, and refreshing! The setting is amazing, and overall it's a great place to spend the afternoon/evening! Before grabbing some seats outdoors, we checked out the retail area. You can purchase many different kinds of beverages to go, including sangria. While I was perusing, an employee asked if I'd like to sample the sangria. I did, and it was very good! There are a few seating areas, close to the stage, farther down the hill and "uphill" in more private, spaced out seating areas. While we arrived too late to check out the entire place, I hope to return someday for a longer visit! read more

SundayFunday! On the MI wine trail we decided to visit this pretty winery. We did have a fruit flight and a sweet flight that was tasty and Hailey was a treat for a server! But the true winner was the Tiki Party event! The tiki drinks were delicious with a food menu to go along with it. We had the pineapple rice bowl, coconut shrimp and chicken kabobs for the win! This beautiful winery is set on a hill, right outside of New Buffalo, Michigan. There are several wineries in this area, but this one is one of the most-known due to their signature round, white barn. I'd seen this spot in photos, so we were excited to choose it as our socially-distanced bachelorette party location. Prepping for the visit beforehand was a little complicated. Round Barn owns several restaurants, another winery, this spot, etc, so there's many different options of reservations online. I still don't know what the difference between the Round Barn estate, public house, filling station and pier are... From research we found that we could get either a special cabana wine tasting outside for about $500 (includes the wine and someone to lead you through them), or can show up and pay $5 a person to enter. We waited in a socially-distanced line, and they let one group in everytime one group left. I didn't find written anywhere that we had to sit at assigned tables, so we'd packed a lot of blankets to lay out on the ground. No problem though - a table was ready within about twenty minutes of waiting. We were sat at picnic tables and ordered lots of food and drinks. They have an awesome menu not only of wine, but also beer and fun fall cocktails. Our server wasn't in the best mood, but she was efficient and brought everything we needed. It was Saturday, so there was live music going on, which was fun, however super loud because we were sat at the table next to the stage and had a hard time hearing each other. I think the music would work better if people were still able to spread out on the grounds but I do appreciate them being serious about staying safe. My favorite things I tried were the Vineyard Red wine and the Kolsch beer. They were both excellent and I recommend you try them! read more

Round barn is one of my favorite wineries to visit and I have been here many, many times! Round Barn is close to my parents home so we usually make a trip up this way whenever I am home to visit them. I think they are such a great place to visit more based on the experience rather than their wines but I have found a few that I do enjoy. My go to here is always the Sangria - this last weekend, I brought my growler and filled it for us to carry throughout the new trails that connect to Tabor Hill. It was fun to drink and walk along the path. Also, I love all their Black Walnut drinks- I have purchased them all so I usually just get whatever I'm in the mood for. At the Estate, they have a black walnut/vodka drink that is amazing. I make the same thing at home but add a splash of rootbeer. This weekend we did the elevated tasting. Due to colder temps, our tasting was upstairs in the barn rather than in the cabana but was still a great experience. Our host took us through 7 pairings of wines and let us choose between which of the 2 we wanted to try. Most were a sweet vs dry option. I enjoyed some of the sweeter whites, like the gewurztraminer and edel doux and enjoyed trying their Crantini cocktail (comes in a can that you can also find in some stores) and some of the other options that we haven't sampled. I am not a fan of their Pinot Noir as it has a huge smokey flavor or most of their dry wines but still had a fun experience during this tasting. Since COVID, it is a lot longer line to get in the winery. Since we did the estate tasting, our server did help us get a table since the line was 30-45 minutes long but we did end up waiting about 40 minutes in our tasting area until it was needed for the next group. On the weekends there is usually live music which is also fun. We tried the trail last weekend and I am already looking forward to making our next trip back just for that. We did not make it through all the trail paths and I would like to explore more with sangria of course! read more

What an awesome find! I've been wanting to make a trip here for the past few years. I love the concept of traveling from one winery to another on the hiking trail connecting Round Barn and Tabor Hill. The property is absolutely beautiful and I love the multiple areas for seating or bring a blanket and enjoy the views from atop the rolling hill. They host awesome events and live music. Even though Michigan wines are not my favorite, Round Barn has many flavorful options to choose from. For me, Michigan wineries are all about the experience & venue. On a side note, they do serve food. We enjoyed the brisket white cheddar mac'n cheese! It was absolutely DIVINE! If you find yourself in this area of Michigan, Round Barn is a destination to explore. Igloo bad experience! We had a reservation from 11-1. The reservation for the Igloo was $160. The $160 only covers the cost of the non-heated igloo. It was 40 degrees out, so we asked for the heater to be turned on. The waitress chuckled and said her manager only allows the heat on when it's 34 degrees or colder. It was raining and the igloo was leaking. Service was terrible, 11am we were seated 11:30 our order was taken 11:45 we got our first drinks and rotten appetizers (see pics for the rotten veggies and mold on the olives) 12:30 we got our second round of drinks 12:45 we were handed our check We basically paid $160 to sit in a cold igloo for 2 hours with very little wait service and moldy food. read more

We walked the short trail between Round Barn and Tabor Hill. Round Barn is definitely a more laid back atmosphere. We sat in the area with picnic tables. It is a huge space and I felt like we saw maybe half of it. They had live music. My girlfriends and I loved the merch options. I visited as a part of the Wine Trail experience coming from Tabor Hill. It was quaint and very lively but the staff interactions we had were poor and the grounds nearest the food trucks and lavatories were in obvious need of attention. I was so put off by the condition of the lavatory and lack of response from staff who noted the indoor/handicap restrooms were locked on weekends despite signs stating they were available by request, we ended up leaving and giving up our table to dine. It wasn't like any winery experience I've ever had due and level of service. My recommendation would be to try Tabor Hill or another nearby. read more

My wife talked me into visiting this winery. 15 years ago we loved this place. Before it became Gewat America amusement winery but thought during the off season we might enjoy the property. Long story short got sent around to a few different places within the Property and after being told we could taste wine within the actual round barn we were sternly told by a staff member to go outside if we wanted wine. No apologies for any confusion created by other staff. This person was stunned when we said we'll just go to another winery. Rode here as a group on a motorcycle trip. The space is cool and the drinks were decent. Not a huge fan of their distilled products. We were not allowed to go up to the cabanas even though nobody was there and after they told us to roam the entire estate ? I do recommend a stop here if traveling through. Stop #2 on our sister wine tour was Round Barn, which was another personal favorite! Tastings are $12 for 6 pours, but here they also include spirits and creams on top of their wine! Pro-Tip: Their walnut cream was divine!!!! Do not leave here without trying it! The tasting room is actually very large, and they do get a LOT of foot traffic, but we never felt crowded or rushed. This is a must stop on your Michigan wineries tour! We came last year on a Friday and did a tasting inside. Can't remember how much we paid last year. $12 is what we paid this year but for outdoor tasting on a Saturday. All the wines were great but I was totally impressed with their Edel Deux. I will confess that I am by no means a wine connoisseur but you could feel the silkyness of the wine in the aftertaste which was deliciously peachy. I feel like we got a better deal last year only because the souvenir glass was actually glass where this year it was plastic. Although on Saturday there was lots more activities and opportunities to mingle. The person who was at entrance did not do a good job of explaining the different options for tastings as we were all confused about whether we had to pay extra to go inside (private event was sold out) and buy wine. They could do a better job on ensuring that all their pours are somewhat consistent as for some we thought we barely got any (yes, I know it's a taste but some felt quite stingy in comparison with others and with other wineries too). Overall, we all had a great time. Great selection of wines and spirits and service was good. I wished we got a better deal at the winery for buying wines there as later on the day we ran into grocery store and saw their wines for a few bucks less which is still cheaper than their buy 3 bottles get $5 off deal. read more

I was here this past weekend for a bachelorette party and I cannot recommend Round Barn enough. Upon our arrival our car got a flat tire. Two gentleman did end up coming to our aid and kept telling us to go in for our reservation and they would wrap up and let us know when they were done. Come to find out it was the owner Matt and the general manager that did this. On top of amazing wine, food, and views, the hospitality and kindness were above and beyond. I will definitely be back as many times as possible. I had the lobster roll as my meal but our group also split a charcuterie board. As for wines I strongly recommend the Cranberry and Gewürztraminer. I cannot say enough great things about our time at this winery! read more
