Super cute bar with delicious wine! I had the #2 white wine and it tasted great! They also have a happy hour til 6 with a few bucks off some whites and reds and some of the snacks. Friendly bartender that was very helpful as well. Def worth stopping in!

Generous, attentive and happy spirit here. Aaron was working the bar. I had 5 tasters of white and red blends but settled on the chilled red and roasted almonds. Happy hour includes the blends so perhaps I missed the deal but I'm satisfied with my choices. Limited food though the local empanadas are a good offer $7 each. Two tables outside and it's bright inside with chill music that will make it cozy for the coming rains... I always hope for the rains. This chilled red is from a natural wine maker. They like to work w/small production winemakers who tend to be more organic I believe. A "Good Wine Karma" board is here if you'd like to pay a glass or more forward! A new wine home. Two other nice touches: Aaron was attentive to my having a glass of water which I really appreciate. And, blankets available for when it gets cold at time.

Have walked past this place a few times it located in SOMA. I went here on a random Thursday night to grab some wine after dinner. I got a white wine which was great and refreshing. They also that this cool program called "bingo" . Every time you go in for wine you can mark off the drinks on the bingo chart that they provide and keep for you until your next visit. And if you try everything on the bingo card you get invited to a party. The service was excellent very helpful and knowledgeable. Would totally go back.

Wine Down SF is my third place, and for good reason. They have a great selection of red and white wines. And let's not forget the Chambong - a must-try! Owners Sarah and Jaime are incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Black Out Bingo loyalty program is a brilliant touch, offering amazing perks like a chance to get invited to an bingo bash with all you can drink wine and even the opportunity to get your own personalized glass and a spot on the wall! If you do sign up for their Blackout Bingo program, say that I referred you. Beyond their amazing wine and the loyalty program, Wine Down SF also hosts fun events like monthly trivia nights, bachelor watch parties and the competitive Wine Olympics. It's the perfect spot to unwind after work, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a glass of wine. Five stars all the way!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS COZY WINE BAR! This is such a hidden gem in SoMa area and I will be back! My friends and I came for their Bachelor finale watch party and had a great experience all the way from the service to the great wine/food options. We started with a round of their workbook white which was super delicious and nicely refreshing. Everything is also well priced and they even offer a wine bingo card you can complete if you try all their wines. They also had great small bites like cheeseboards and empanadas which smelled delicious. Beyond the food and drinks, this bar is super cozy with little nooks and great photo opportunities. For their bachelor watch party they created special bingo cards and even had prizes for the winners. The staff is very friendly and make it a point to get to know their customers. The staff offered great recommendations and we had great conversations with them. All in all this was a great night and I'm excited to come back soon!

I only came here once with a big group of friends. I like that they offer carafes of wine, it's just easier for groups. They do offer happy hour which is great. I feel like the city is stingy on happy hour so when a place offers it, it's always a nice surprise. The meat and cheese plate was only okay, cheese wasn't special but I love they do pita bread instead of crackers. I remember the empanadas were really good though. That was a good order for the table.

When I lived in the East Bay I would drive by this location often on my way to the Bay Bridge. I would look over and imagine myself with a glass of wine and appetizer instead of another hour of traffic jams. I arrived early for an appointment that I had in the neighborhood, so I decided to find a spot to enjoy a happy hour drink. Since I was early, the place was empty and got to learn more about the place. The bartender was great, let me know what they had on special and I tried the Point Reyes TOMA cheese plate with warm flatbread. To drink, I had the Sparkle Pony from the local Black Hammer Brewery. I loved the wine and beer selections that they had. The options of food and beverages are great for a happy hour get togethers, dates and special events. Overall a great place and can't wait to come back with others.

Wine Down is one of those magical places in SF that has fantastic drinks, food and decor as well as an incredible staff that's always a joy to interact with. I've planned multiple after work gatherings here for my team and they love the vibe and delicious food. An exceptional experience all around, definitely worth the trip every time! read more

Hands down, fave wine bar in the city. Love to come here on occasion or just to de-stress after work! The co-owners are AMAZING, and always have the cutest ideas for bachelor nights. Jamie is so sweet, and v supportive of that blackout bingo, haha. Wine pours are generous and the foods are great! They have a great modern decor, and the bathroom is to die for. Heads up that they may have private events, but always keep on the lookout for their emails! read more

I've been to Wine Down with friends a few times since opening, and it's always been such a lovely experience! In fact, we love it so much we had a friends engagement party there last week! Sarah the owner was so easy to work with and was sure to help us coordinate an event that was within our budget. Wine Down is great for events or just a post-work sip. The wines are local, always delicious and very affordable. They also happen to have awesome music and pretzels. read more

Hosted a casual birthday celebration here with about 15-20 friends and everyone loved it! The staff are fantastic--super friendly and helpful and responded to all my questions both in person and by email. They reserved a section of the bar for us with signs and didn't charge a minimum, which is nice. The selection and quality of wines and beers was excellent and reasonably priced considering the location in SOMA. I pre-ordered food to be served and shared with our group: the presentation was great and the food was super tasty. Empanadas were delish! I will definitely come back here for after-work happy hour and would strongly recommend a group event here in the future. They make it so easy, and I'm all about supporting female business owners. read more

So glad we found this little unicorn near our office! It had just opened! We love every single detail put in the decoration even the handwriting. Who says no to a golden Unicorn? My fiends and I come here a lot after work. Decent wine selection, cool staff, not too expensive. It gets packed and loud after 5pm but I enjoy spending time here. I wish they had a better food option available. read more

This is a great place for a drink and light dinner after work with friends. We came here and sat outside at the lovely picnic tables. Our waiters were great. Checked in occasionally, but also let us alone (it was the perfect balance, not always easy to find!). The red blend was fabulous, and the empanadas delicious. I especially recommend the mushroom one. Will defiantly be coming again! read more

After a hectic day at work, I knew it was time to wine down. As I entered, my work anxieties were quickly eased by the reassuring sight of a golden unicorn bust which greeted me on the wall. We soon named him chardonayyyyy, in preparation of the wine we were soon to quench our thirst with. The knowledgeable, amiable staff quickly presented us with a plethora of wine samples, and though we wanted to order them all, for the quality was that sublime, we decided upon a glass of the dry Riesling (medium bodied, tropical after notes) and the chardonayyyyy (fresh, not too oaky or buttery) and were very satisfied with our choices. Then came out the spread of a delectable hummus/taziki blend, and the meat platter containing the most magnetic prosciutto my lips have ever feasted upon, accompanied with a variety of crunchy dippables. With our first two glasses floating around dreamily in our bellies, we ventured on to a glass of the delectable Pinot noir (rich with a lingering buttery finish) and a vessel of the workbook white (a desirable white blend, a mildly fruity dry creation) and soon found ourself needed to relieve our bladders, which lead me to the bathroom, which is literally plated in glimmering gold glitter paneling. All in all, wine down reminds us that all that glitters is actually gold, and that we all need to take moments like these to chill out with a cool glass of white wine and a mouthful of prosciutto. So fellow citizens of SF, it's 5 o clock somewhere, get yourself into wine down and down that wine. read more

Just the cutest and most fun bar around. Has exciting games and great bartenders. Everyone makes you feel like your at home. Also a lot of really attractive people frequent here so if you're trying to date, put down the apps and meet IRL! I suggest the cheese board (for 2 obviously) and red wine. You'll love it! read more

My expectations for this wine bar was very high because of the 5-star rating. There are a couple of things missing for me to rate it as a 5-star. Happy hour is a $1 off per glass and $5 on carafe which is not much for being an happy hour. The bar was super loud to be able to have a conversation and there were really no charm to the place, a very plain deco. The glass of wine I had was good but that was really it. read more

Winedown made sure our two-day company event was executed perfectly. Love this easy spot for a ladies happy hour! You can't beat the awesome vibe that comes from Wine Down being a female-owned bar, right down to the golden, glittery bathroom. Great place to get together with friends for small bites and a quick drink! The staff is really friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed and easy going. So... I hate to just write "this place is the best" because that is so vague... But yea.. It is. Let's see.. They've got all local wine and beers on tap, a hip minimalist vibe and awesome staff who also happen to be the owners!? SoMa is a very fortunate neighborhood that these ladies chose to put their business here! Also-- pretty great and satisfying little plates like fresh hot pretzels or empanadas... I like wine, but I'm more of a beer guy. I avoid wine bars in SF because frankly they intimidate me. I saw this place serves some interesting beers so I checked it out. Came for the beer stayed for the wine. Started talking to the owners and sampled a few before I settled on the gruner. Totally unpretentious, almost like drinking at a friend's house if your friend lived in really clean well lit bar. Never tasted the beers but they had almanac on tap so now I have to go back. This is the beginning of a long and glorious relationship. read more

Took my co-workers here for happy hour on Friday. A perfect combination of chill (not so loud that you can't hear each other and not so packed that you can't get a seat) and tasty wine and beer. I talked to the owners a bit, and they seemed to have really taken their time to find the right small wineries and breweries. Also they have good snacks (cheese and meat plates, olives, etc) because I'm always starving at happy hour.... read more

If you are looking for a good place to get a great wine or great beer, this is the place! They have a great selection of local wines and beers, with a chill atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and having a good time. Prices are very reasonable, and they have snacks as well. Wine Down features a frequently rotating list of California wines, Bay Area beers, and snacks from small local producers. Join us for happy hours, celebrations, or any time you want to wine down and drink up!

History

Established in 2016.

We met while working at a sustainability-focused organization (just a few blocks from 685 Folsom!). We love good wine, beer, and food, and believe they are an important part of everyday life, but no matter how many places we tried, we never found the vibe we were looking for. So as an alternative, we started raising money to buy good drinks and snacks and host a weekly office happy hour known as "Wine Down," to help all of us relax at the end of a long workday. Eventually, discussions about the need for a casual, friendly place to enjoy good wine, beer, and snacks at a good price led to months of research and finally the concept for Wine Down. We're proud to have built the bar of our dreams in Wine Down at 685 Folsom Street. It's a magical, happy place and we hope you join us soon! - Jaime & Sarah (Co-Owners)

This is my new favorite happy hour spot! I've tried nearly every one of the 16 wines on tap and haven't had a bad one yet. Prices are very reasonable (around $8-15), and even the more affordable ones are very good. They also have Happy Hour from 4-6:30pm with discounts on glasses and carafes ($1/$5 off at the moment). It's really dangerous to have wine this good at such a good price :) I also like that they have carafes/pitchers of beer for groups. The staff is super friendly and attentive, I don't have to wait long before ordering another drink or getting my water refilled. It's also nice that they serve food (empanadas, meat/cheese plates, ) for when I'm drinking and get hangry :) Also when you go, don't miss out on the bathroom! Two words: GLITTER BOMB :D read more

The staff and owners are really nice! I come here regularly - it's get's busy, but we can always find a couple seats. The wine taste great and is affordable. Lots of it is from small California producers I haven't seen anywhere else. The design is light and clean - this feels energizing after a long day in the office. They just put up a mural that looks really cool. As a fan of 90's hip hop and 2000's pop, they're music playlist is killer. read more

My friends and I come here considerably after work. Decent wine selection, cool staff, not expensive. It gets packed and loud after 5 pm, but I enjoyed spending time here. Yummy wines and a perfect day! Brought home some incredible wine to share. read more
