We got a real feel for the area and the wine making experience. We started with a tour and tasting at Glen Lyon. Picture yourself at a picnic table with the most beautiful mountains and vineyard as your backdrop tasting wine that came from vines just a few feet away, that's the experience you get with Tom. It's worth every single penny and I will always book with Tom when I "revisit". On a side note my mom needed a prescription filled and Tom dropped it off while we ate lunch in his amazing backyard and took us back to pick it up when we were done with our tour, it just showed what a kind man he is! His wife who got to enjoy lunch with was a real gem, very warm and welcoming. As a bonus they have two super cute dogs and their homemade wine was delicious!!! We returned to Sonoma in 2026 with a small group and booked another tour. Booking and communication was a breeze. Very good. Ends up the property I rented offered a wine passport and we were to receive a discount. I called to confirm and they let me know the driver would apply the discount when we paid him the day of the tour. All sounded wonderful and was very clearly communicated. The tour in 2026 only went to 3 wineries. Two were just ok and one was not good. I don't think anyone on our tour purchased anything here. The time at each winery was like a typical tasting with some information on their winery. But no real information on Sonoma and Napa and the history of the area. At the end our driver had no clue on our discount and kept telling me he would get in trouble for charging me less. He insinuated I was making it all up. In the end he did honor the discount but seemed he did it as a favor not that it was a program that Platypus participates in. All in all I was disappointed in this wine tour and would no go on a platypus tour again and would not recommend them. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Luckily all the people on our tour were delightful so that made for a nice day.

I appreciate how they already had an itinerary planned out for the day. We visited 4 wineries which one had a wonderful farm to table lunch waiting for us (which this was included in ticket price) Each winery visited made us feel at home/great stories/great people and great wine waiting for us upon arrival! Wine tasting fees are addl around $35-40 per person. Our last winery visited Paul helped us to get TSA approved shipping boxes which wine got home safely! Wish we could've stayed longer at Buena Vista and Sangiacomo. The staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and the true definition of hospitality. On our return from the rail bikes, I accidentally locked my keys in my car while it was still running with the A/C on. We were the last group there, and the two gentlemen working that day went above and beyond. They stayed an hour after closing while my daughter and I waited for a tow truck to unlock my vehicle. They even offered to let me use their own AAA membership to help with the situation. Not once did either of them seem frustrated or inconvenienced, despite having to stay well past closing.
