Saw this Fix beer in the back beer cave out on the shelf alone. Never seen it before so I thought I'd try it. Shrink wrap on the beers did not have date on it so I didn't know til I opened it at home. Went back 2 days later to return it. It was first thing in the morning and was told only the manager can do returns and he doesn't come in til 12. Also told that no one answers the phone there. I tried and yeah they don't answer. Zero stars. Extremely disappointing experience for a friend of mine. The owner made racist comments that were completely unacceptable. Using derogatory language towards any group of people is not only hurtful but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes. The person behind the cash register called a friend of mine the N-word. Using the N-word to address a customer is never acceptable. It's shocking and disappointing, especially considering the owner's own experiences as a minority. Racism has no place in business or society. I will not be supporting this business again and would advise others to do the same. Respect and inclusivity are essential in any establishment. read more

I really like this shop. It's become by go-to as they have all the essentials and more! Im surprised by the low reviews. I agree with the good review of the previous yelp elite who came here. I think the workers are friendly and helpful and the store has a ton of wine to select from, and all the essential liquor and mixers and beer. I think they could definitely improve upon the number of options they have. There's a beer or a gin that they don't carry, and a few of the cheaper bottles of wine are only doubles, but the best thing is that if you ask for them to carry a product, and you're a regular, they will accommodate the request. What more could you ask for. No complaints from me and I enjoy the kind woman typically behind the counter. read more

Just went to the store to pick up my regular beer. saw a sign on a case of can wine and I say let me try it, why not it's on sale. so pick it up with my beer and ask if the sign is correct cause it's a significant drop in price. the the older Indian guy start going off like crazy I had to tell him he need to stop before this really get out of control. so I cancel my order and walk out. I'll never go back there ever again. Attitude and customer service is wild. but I wasn't trying to get into anything because of someone else ignorance. read more

I bought a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon and the sign said $31.99, so I paid and left. Got home and reviewed receipt and I was charged $39.99, so I went back to Wine Merchants for a refund and George the manager would not honor price posted. I believe it's a law in Ct to honor the price posted. I will make a formal complaint. read more

I happened upon this store in Hamden plaza while looking for a good bottle of wine. The place was busy with people getting everything from liquor to beer to wine. The store is huge and situated right next to wal mart. There are a large number of all types of wines, mostly arranged by type. There are signs to help guide you. There is also a large variety of liquors and even some hard to find commodities! Towards the back of the store is the beer, both refrigerated and not, bottles and cans. More than once I have found shock top (my favorite beer) seasonal varieties in stock and refrigerated! There is also a walk in beer cooler that has most of the domestic beers and a few others. Walking towards the front again one will find the champagne as well as additional refrigerator with seltzer and other non alcoholic items. And almost always, there are a couple of shopping carts with sale items, always worth going through. I've found some really good steals in these carts! They have the typical little bottles as well as the really fancy liquor behind the counter. They also take credit cards as well as cash. The staff is always nice. Come and check it out! read more

Insanely overpriced liquor ( Eagle Rare whiskey is about $20 higher than anywhere else and is actually priced more than rarer whiskey they had in stock, seriously f these guys.) I always pick this place over any other liquor store in the area. I always find something new to try and am impressed with the wide variety of wine and liquors they sell. The prices are great. The owner is really kind and most helpful man. I also love how they check IDs religiously. The only reason why I left out a star is this one time I went and found this awesome new honey vodka + wine drink. It was so new that one of the workers needed to call the owner to figure out how to put it in the system. It showed a bit of unorganization but they helped me it the nicest way possible. I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

Selection is good. Location is convenient. A handful of prior visits were uneventful. Then I met the manager (and owner?). I was trying to explain that the bottle of Shiraz I'd purchased the week before was not just bad, it was like a punch in the face from a rancid prune. I'd brought back the bottle, less the 3 or 4 oz. that had nearly killed me and my guests, and asked if I could return it for a refund or store credit. I noticed that since I'd made my purchase, two cases of the stuff had appeared in the clearance section and had been priced down to $3.99 a bottle. Presumably something had happened in the interval to make him decide to clear the stock quickly. "I've sold over 150 cases of this particular wine, sir! You're the first one who's complained, sir! Everyone's palette is different, sir! It's just you, sir, everyone else loves this wine!" Bullshit. In hindsight, I wish I had offered to buy a case of the stuff on the condition that he drink a single glass in front of me with a straight face. What I did was much less dramatic. I took 'no' for an answer, left the bottle, and told him I wouldn't be back. read more

Had a very bad experience. I am a transplant from NJ and this store is located on the main street in my new town Hamden. Being right next to Walmart I found the store quite convenient and the prices were great. When I made my way to the register, I told sthe cashier debit please...she bark back at me without even looking at me..CREDIT ONLY!!!! I said ok....Then she had a problem the way I signed the sales receipt all the while on her smart phone. She was annoyed that I took her away from what she was doing. When I left she said something under her breath....LOOK...do you know how many liquor stores I can choose to spend my money in?...lots...never again. Please find workers with better attitudes.This princess is is driving your customers away. I am sure I am not the only one. read more

If I could give negative 5 stars I would. The worst customer service and consideration for people anywhere. Walking out of the store carrying $75 worth of alcohol and the 12 pack bottles box gives out allowing all the bottles to fall to the ground. Only one breaks and the rest I retrieve. I immediately return into the store telling them what happen and the owner tells me to call blue moon and have them refund me. No hey no worries here's a new 12 pack. Nothing. Says I'll give u a Busch or bud light solo for the one that broke. Really that guy is a moron. Their are 5 liquor stores right in the area and I will never return or rec anyone giving that guy a dime. read more

Do not support bad behavior and service. I ordered 1/4 keg . I went to go pick up and no one could ring it or get it. They claimed they didn't know which was mine. I had to wait an hour for a manager to show up. I was told by the manager that the owner decided to order for me, he selected Bud instead of Miller, and light instead of the standard beer. I asked for a discount as I was not Called and told, I was told No. Think twice here! I didn't bother to buy my other liquor here because of it.
