Perhaps this place suffered in ranking a little because of where it is located (Niagara Falls is like a ghost town). Perhaps it was the slow service. Or perhaps it was the average food. Either way, it was an experience that left me with more questions than answers. For example, why did I have to go to the bar to order when I was sitting at a table in the dining room? Yeah, weird. I'm not going to even spend any time on the food as it was a forgettable experience. I do remember having a tasty local brew, but that was the only highlight of this adventure. I am traveling from out of town and it was great to go to a place, sit at the bar and have great food and friendly good conversation. I had a nice glass of wine and pretty good food. The menu was a little smaller than I expected, but I was happy with what I ordered. Had the spinach with roasted red peppers, garlic and pine nuts. My wife and I were in Niagara Falls for two nights and, not being big fans of Indian food or the same TGIFridays and Hard Rock fare you can get anywhere we figured we would stop here the first night for a bite and some wine since there really aren't many other options. Well, the food was INCREDIBLE. So good in fact that we went back the second night. As pescetarian see don't eat meat other than fish, and there were so many options. The mahi mahi tacos, vegetarian quesadilla, Mediterranean plate and sweet and spicy shrimp with risotto were all positively delicious. The only downfall was that because they serve Not Your Father's Root beer we never got around to sampling their wine or voluminous mixed drink selection. I was looking for somewhere to eat in the falls and found this on Yelp. What a nice surprise! Good wine list by the glass. Attentive, friendly servers and the food was awesome! elegant and simple. We had the beef strip appetizer over lemon orzo, the meatballs which were perfect, and the calamari which again was perfect. We also shared a field greens salad with blue cheese and walnuts and a lite vinaigrette which was our favorite. The we shared the salmon and I would go back just for that alone. This was our first visit to Niagara and to Wine on Third, and the wine bar was great!! Not in the touristy area but only a quick walk from our hotel near the Falls. Andy our waiter was really good and when he didn't know the answer to our questions about the food, he checked with the kitchen. The salmon risotto was delicious, and the special tonight was seared scallop and spinach risotto, which was equally delicious according to my husband. This place could be absolutely fantastic. The setting is warm and cozy. The wine list is great (with very good price points). And, the menu has some great sounding tapas.... which is something that is not all that prevalent in this area. Perhaps my experience was due to the fact that my visit was on a Monday night..... a time when many establishments do not have their star staff present. Two of us were told to sit any place we'd like, and after a bit of consideration chose a table in the back of the bar area that was right by the wine racks. Great ambiance! When I asked about a particular wine I was brought over a taste. Great service! The wine: Sangre de Toro from Spain was great.... and so we ordered a bottle. The tapas menu is great.... everything from mussels.... to tuna.... to artichokes.... to meatballs.... to charcuterie.... to lamb..... to potatoes..... All of the choices sounded great. We decided to start with the charcuterie platter. It was supposed to have meats, cheeses, dips, and breads. What we received was a slate board with tiny bits of three types of cheeses (swiss, pepper-jack, and parmesan), piles of mortadella and capicola, one deviled egg, three slices of toasted baugette, and a pile of previously jarred giardiniera... you know.... pickled cauliflower, carrots, celery, and peppers. No dips. And... not a very interesting spread, to say the least. When I questioned the waiter (who admitted he is usually a cook) about it, he brought out a huge bowl of olive oil drizzled with balsalmic vinegar. He later brought out a plate with four more pieces of toasted baugette (which we later discovered we were changed an additional $1.50 for). The next two items we ordered were the meatballs (which were served with red sauce and garlic asiago baguette) and the potatoes (which were served with roasted red pepper aioli). The meatballs (three of 'em) were much larger than golf-balls, super tasty, and perfectly balanced with the delicious sauce and the flavorful bread. The potatoes were pan fried as to be slightly crisp on the outside and yet tender on the inside. The huge portion was accompanied by a whole lot of flavorful dipping sauce. Now.... in these days of super-sizing it may be strange to say such a thing, but the portion sizes were much too big. This was supposed to be tapas. I wanted to order a whole bunch of things and have a couple of bites of each. That's the beauty of tapas. I did not want to be filled up with my meatball and my potatoes. The service was very friendly, but a bit scattered..... we had to ask four times for glasses of water.... and food was brought out by different people..... and wine was not re-poured..... and I still don't understand the additional charge for bread with the olive oil (although the charge was removed with only a little argument necessary). As I said.... great setting and concept.... but the execution was a bit sub-par. Still, I'd be willing to go back.... perhaps on a weekend next time when, hopefully, they are on their "A Game". read more

I was advised by my hostel innkeeper to give this place a try, and, I am glad that I did! I had the Chicken Marsala. My entree came in a HUGE bowl, and was creamy deliciousness embodied. This place is quite cozy and the atmosphere was rather nice. They have a large selection of red and white wines. Service was good. The food is tapas style, though not traditional Spanish tapas. Between two people we ended up ordering 3 small tapas plates and two glasses of wine. The tapas can be described as fusion of all types of food, excellent quality and taste. If you go get the Grilled Ravioli in Pesto, it was excellent. The scallops wrapped in bacon were on the dinky side, but the flavor was on target, I just wished they used bigger scallops like how the dish should be. The soy-chili beef skewers were a little tough, but still good. Overall, I would go back. A fair warning it is quite pricey if you really want to get full and make it a dinner. The scallop and risotto was loved so much, we ordered a second round! The fried spicy shrimp and goat cheese risotto was yummy as well. I also ordered one of their specials which was tuna tartare? Which was absolutely delicious but wow were they expensive at $18 for two tuna sashimi-like pieces on a crispy chip like platter with some guac and pickled veggies. This was really exceptional and truly some of the best braised pork I've ever had and well worth the $18; plus a glass of Napa Cabernet for $10 - again, excellent value. The service was pretty quick for only one person waiting on basically everyone. He was very accommodating and came back a couple times to make sure everything was good. The food was great. I ordered truffle fries, which was a very large order definitely enough for like two or three people. I also had the vegetable panini with couscous which was delicious. From our experience, this was the best food we ate in the area. Everything that out server, Jacob, recommended was amazing. I find that servers sometimes steer you in the wrong direction here and there, but everything he recommended from tapas to dessert was on point. The restaurant has a nice and relaxed vibe and the food was great. We had the ahi, pork belly, and cheesecake. Recommend by the hotel staff & yelp, we gave it a try...not that there are many choices. Sad to see the decline of this town. The food here was fabulous. We were visiting the falls with my cousin & her husband who are from Mumbai touring the US. They really enjoyed the food and the drinks were great. The service is a little slow but its not the fault of our server. I saw only two & our server was doing double duty as the bartender. Super nice guy! Plus it was pretty crowded with locals it seemed.
