Our hosts, husband and wife team Chris and Christy, were warm and welcoming from the start. Chris' wine pairings and explanations complemented the insanely delicious food perfectly, and were educational yet unpretentious. They graciously accommodated all dietary restrictions and served a beautiful 5 course meal (with gorgeous wine pairings, of course). Having an intimate dinner with strangers was also a delight! We cheers'ed, laughed, bonded, ate and drank to our hearts' content and had a total blast. Looking forward to another special evening with Home Somm in the near future! This was the first location and it's also the largest. The selection is vast and there are some great wines and spirits available for purchase - including some coveted bottles of Fortaleza Tequila. The evening's line up featured French natural wine from Bob Singlar - 4 tastings for $20. Much like the other two stores the staff here are friendly and knowledgeable about the pours. They had a nice turnout including some locals who gather here on a weekly basis. I enjoyed conversing with them and meeting some of their fur babies. Hopefully, I can return for another tasting soon.

I've ordered everything from Meomi to Dom. 1855 gets it for me cheaper than I'd typically pay and I get it delivered to my door! The lead consultant, Aaron began my membership with doing an inventory of my existing wine cellar (less than 5 cases) and marking the ones ready to drink now, those that should lay down, and those that absolutely need time. He helped set up my storage so all bottles are kept in the best condition and will drink at their best when I open them. I'm looking forward to my next project with 1855 - helping me buy and arrange specialized wine glassware for my home. Boy were we glad!! In this heat, I think I would not have made it up the hill if we had to park in the lower lot!! There was already a line forming and people were already throwing their blankets onto the ground in order to claim a shady spot. We were lucky to sit underneath the tree, but since the speakers were close by, the music was kind of loud so it was challenging to have a conversation. By the time the rest of the group showed up, if it wasn't for us, they would be sitting out in the open and would have gotten heat stroke! There was only one food truck. I was fortunate that the other four people in our group came prepared with lots of goodies to share. BIG must. Bring stuff to eat!! Besides one food truck, there was free water. Very organized in regards to getting your wine tastings. You get to wear a wrist band with 4 tabs which are removed one at a time as you go up to get a drink. There were 3 or 4 lines which moved along fairly quickly. I noticed that they didn't all have a glass to place tips. 3 of the wines were cooled and the 4th was room temperature. The serving size was very good. BTW, you get to keep the commemorative glass (no stem) which is actually cute because it says Barnsdall on it. The Hollyhock House is available for touring during this event, but it's an additional cost. Wish I purchased tickets for it! Oh well, maybe another time if I ever do this event again which cost $35 for 3 hours.

This historic home was built by frank lloyd wright, in an aztec style with reminders everywhere of the barnsdall's favorite flower, the hollyhock. There are food trucks nearby, the day i went there were 2. The food was so-so. I recommend instead to definitely bring a towel and your own picnic! The wine pours were chilled white, chilled rose, and two reds i did not try. The white was my favorite.
