I was looking for a semi-sweet wine that pairs well with red meat. I asked James for a recommendation in which he gave me two options that were under $25. The one that I ended up choosing is exclusive to this Wine Stop, if you want to find it within the U.S (originally from Italy). A truly, fantastic wine. Paired amazingly well with red meat. I honestly believe that this wine can be versatile. It's sweet, but not too sweet. James is extremely knowledgeable. I wanted to confirm my very little wine knowledge with him. I asked him questions and he gave me even more. A great experience overall. I will be back to get this wine and to try other ones as well! Parking is all street parking, so it can be a bit hard at times.

My favorite... Arke Primitivo from Salento, Italy

You know when you got something good, something great, but it's TOO good, TOO great, to the point where you almost don't want everyone to know about it? That's Wine Stop to me. And that's why I struggle over writing this review. I got introduced to Wine Stop almost 2 years ago and what seemed like an eclectic destination for entrepreneurs, artists, smugglers, dancers, models, photographers, recovering pickup artists, fashion designers, filmmakers, general bon vivants, and Taiwanese people has become a second home whenever I'm in LA... which is sometimes every week. Alvaro, James, and the rest of the team have been able to curate a light environment where the wines are on point, everyone is welcome, and good times are had by all. Speaking specifically to the wine, however, you can find no better selection here. Thanks to the fine taste, decades of experience, and real desire for people from all walks of life to enjoy and learn about wine, Alvaro and James have utilized their insider connects to source incredible wines from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, and other locales in Europe... with many of the bottles being special imports exclusive to Wine Stop only! Perennial favorites are the Pronto, a fizzy Lambrusco from Emilia-Romagna and my personal favorite... the limited batch, full bodied, Arke Primitivo from Salento. As I mentioned, many of these Italian wines are not just difficult to find, but they're also sold at a GREAT price at Wine Stop. If you come in with $20-30 to spend, you're sure to leave with a bottle (or two) of something phenomenal to bring to your dinner party or (wink) date. Come out on Thursday nights for their $15 wine tastings... you get 3 pours of 3 of their delicious wines as well as a cheese and charcuterie board. What a deal! You'll also be able to join our bohemian posse of apprentice wine fiends and wanderlusters, not to mention make real life face time with the local Taiwanese embassy, which just so happens to meet at Wine Stop every Thursday night for these tastings! I love Wine Stop... and I don't want anyone to ruin it. As the current reigning Yelp Duke of Wine Stop, I had to write this review... but I swear to god, if anyone reads this and brings bad vibes to South Santa Fe Avenue, I will unleash my dynasty warriors on you!

Very good selection of wine and nice to open a bottle in the shop and taste. I hear they have tasting t and th and can't wait to come back and try. Everything is very affordable and well worth the visit!

UPDATE: I am updating my rating to 3 stars purely based on how management handled my situation…read more Shortly after my initial negative experience, Amar reached out to me directly. He was highly professional, apologized for the unacceptable service, assured me he had spoken to the staff so it wouldn't happen again, and went out of his way to completely cover the cost of my order. It takes a lot for a business to own their mistakes and make it right, and I really appreciate that ownership actually cares about their customers. ORIGINAL EXPERIENCE: Do not order delivery directly from their website. I originally placed an order online for a couple beers and two bottles of liquor, and despite living only 2.8 miles away, I was called by an employee named Angelo who told me it would take 4 hours to deliver. When I expressed frustration, he offered zero compensation or alternative solutions. He claimed there was "no manager" to speak to, and told me to just go use DoorDash or Grubhub instead because nobody wanted to drive a moped less than 3 miles. It is incredibly frustrating when a business takes your money for an advertised service, refuses to fulfill it, and then tells you to go pay extra fees on a third-party app. Overall, I'm giving 3 stars because Amar's excellent response and accountability balanced out Angelo's initial terrible service.

All about the Boomtown Brewery!…read more This Arts District favorite is a beat away from Union Station where I typically make my way over from to enjoy all the good good that Boom has to offer. Located on Jackson Street between N Vignes Street and Center Street (but actually on the corner on Vignes) you can find local street parking throughout the area, but nothing beats a train ride or a ride share to enjoy responsibly. Always have a great time here on the inside or their long patio with flat screens outdoors (as well as in) to catch the latest events. DJs always spinning the best beats. The brewery where the make the magic is pretty spacious yet intimate. Was able to go on a tour here and learn more about the ins and outs. The taproom is stellar for group hangs and socials. Pool tables, photo booth, arcade style games, loungey area, communal seating, and local food vendors who come out and serve up great eats. Not as many vegan friendly spot, though the few that are on select days and times are pretty solid. If you're an IPA enthusiasts they have at least 6 on the rotation including the Nose Job (7% abv) and a personal fav. Their Hydration Break WC IPA, is a little more of India Pale Ale punch (7.4%), but you can't go wrong with any. Flights are still a recommend if you want to feel out the variety. For Hard Seltzer lovers, you've got the Frosty Fresco or Al Fresco. Fruit Snacks Lager is surprisingly epic as is the Brett Michael's Blonde Sour. I do miss some of their more seasonals such as the red lager aka Part-Time Lover but do enjoy all that's on the rotation. You can pop in for events like Friday Karaoke, Tuesday Taproom Trivia or Open Mic Mondays. Book a private event for all style of events. Family and pet friendly until 7pm. Beer and wine packages available with up to 300 person capacity. No matter the day... Still come for the beer, stay for the cheer. Take in the rustic decor, artsy vibes outdoors. Planty vines and nothing but things that make you thrive. Boomtown Brewery always gets me feeling the good vibes.

We ended up getting some cookies from an indoor stand a vendor had set up inside. They were good af. Overall it's a laid back cool spot to down a few rounds with friends, and we did end up singing along a lot of times... so we kinda got a performance in lol. Some performers clearly outshined others but was a good time! I also liked that it's a dog friendly establishment so best believe I got some good pets in with the furry friends. Definitely would come back to try making the list earlier another time. Cool find!

Naturally, we followed the music... and wow, what a vibe! This place is such a vibe-y outdoor hangout spot. Super cute, super chill. The first thing you see? A full bar built into a refurbished 1954 Spartan Trailercoach and yes, it's as cool as it sounds, serving beer and craft cocktails. The music was bumpin', the energy was up, but it still had this cozy, intimate feel. Perfect combo. My boyfriend and I both got the Paloma and we snagged a spot in the back to catch the DJ doing his thing. Our table was a little wobbly and my cocktail tipped! Such a bummer but the bartender didn't miss a beat. She sent someone to clean it up immediately and replaced my drink with a fresh one. Didn't catch her name but shoutout to her for the amazing service! There was a big group nearby just vibing, laughing, and living their best life.
