My husband and I have stayed in more than half a dozen hotels/inns in Solvang, and without exception nothing compares to the Wine Valley Inn and Cottages. The property is exceptional - spacious, attractive, clean, and comfortable as are the rooms. The rates are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the inn's lodging and common spaces with indoor and outdoor fire places, ample sitting accommodations, well-maintained gardens, and peaceful setting. Customer service is excellent on the phone and in person. The staff is professional and personable, kind and considerate. If we can't stay at the Wine Valley Inn and Cottages, then we can't go to Solvang; it'a just that special! Thank you! read more

This whole town made me feel like I was back in my childhood. Life .. so simple. The day I was there it seemed that everyone was checking in at 330/4p, so I walked to get a bite to eat to avoid the long lines. I believe it was Jessica that checked me in. She was very helpful. The room was comfy. The hotel was quaint. I did appreciate that they sent a little text inviting you to have a free glass of wine with others there. It's walking distance to everything. They give you a list of recommendations although it seems they've had some changes recently, so they're not all open. Had my services animals with me. In the back of the building there are some places for relief. Not a lot of grass in town in general. Walks were very thin, but the town kind of shuts down around 7pm so it was pretty quiet. My neighbor was snoring loudly so I heard him. Would def stay here again. read more

Room was clean, but was in need of repair, huge gaps in the flooring. Some paint pealing around the mirror, The first two people I meet were very friendly and helpful, the young lady that helped me check in acted like she couldn't care less. Back to the room furnishing were all hard and uncomfortable. The bed made a loud pop any time you moved. But the thing that ruined it for me was that you could hear every thing happing in the building in the room. So there was little rest and Less relaxation. I thought that if would calm down as it got later but no. The people above must have been chasing a child around all night. As for the breakfast I would just drop it all together. I have stayed at many mediocre hotels that do breakfast so much better. Overall not the worst stay ever but was very disappointing. Don't know if I was stay again. read more

I've stayed here 3 times in the past year (ish) and I really love it. I've stayed in 2 of the cottages (6 and 5) and one of the king tower rooms. Each time I'm just amazed at how HUGE the rooms are! Even the tower king was almost bigger than my apartment in LA, lol. It had a huge, pitched ceiling, and a cute little window that looked over the roof tops and an electric fire place. I've never stayed in the chateau or had someone above me, so it's possible that depending on what room you get, the noise may or may not be an issue. I suggest calling and booking with them directly so you can request certain rooms if you want to make sure you get some peace and quiet. If you want to splurge, the cottages are the way to go! There are six and each one is different. The grounds where they're located are super enchanting. I've enjoyed sitting outside in the morning and evening, watching birds, watching the moon rise, or even the sunrise. There's a koi pond and various little fountains... it's all just incredibly charming and quiet. The hot tubs in the cottage are a welcome luxury, but they're the only thing I think that could use a little spruce-up. It's very bare-bones, but there are patio chairs and a table and the hot tub itself is clean and has nice jets. Otherwise it's just concrete and wooden fence. Perhaps they would get some fake plants or something to make it a bit more charming :P At the end of the day, though, it's still an outdoor hot tub and I can't really complain about that! Very nice to look up at the stars during a night time soak and feels very private. As a single female traveler, I've always felt very safe here. The free wine hour from 6-7 on weekends is a cozy offering where you can get a free glass of wine and relax by the lobby fire. It's not a "brand new" type of hotel, but to me it holds warmth and history that I really appreciate with that "Hygge" Danish feeling. The design and layout of the rooms (that I stayed in, at least) have all been really unique and it's always felt clean and well taken care of overall. Beds have been soft and comfortable as well! The staff has always been very accommodating. They helped me get a room with a fireplace and gave me some options (for the tower king) and when I stayed in Cottage 5, I'd called to ask about the fireplace flames and they very promptly offered to have the maintenance man come check it out, all over text which was super easy. They also gave me some fish food to feed the adorable koi fish in the pond outside! Every time I've checked in or had a question, someone will acknowledge me even if I have to wait or make sure to call me over if they're free. Even one of the maintenance men helped me carry my suitcase up the stairs from my car when he saw how much stuff I had, haha. The clock tower chimes its lovely bell, the globe lights come on at dusk, doves coo and fly overhead, the outdoor fireplaces beckon travelers before or after wine or dinner and the colored lights reflect off the trees and water near the cottages... it's just a charming atmosphere and an excellent location where you can walk to everything. OH and the Enchante spa is in the same building and they're awesome! It's great to just be able to have breakfast, a massage, wine, fire place... all within just a short walk from your room. read more

I love the location of this charming hotel. Walkable to everything, in the middle of town. Looks like they have been working at updating the hotel. We had the Village Tower King Junior Suite, which was in the second floor with a view of the mountains. I loved the room and the bathroom was clean with a large walk in shower (all updated). I would love to see a little charm of the colorful outside brought into the rooms instead of the sterile Scandinavian grey and white shapes theme. Breakfast was just fine, all ordinary options. If you love a good breakfast head out to any of the breakfast oriented restaurants. My favorite is in Buellton to Ellen's Danish Pancake House. If you love a good Happy Hour, head out across the street to Mad Vin bar located in the Landby Hotel. The lovely bar area (not the restaurant) has a terrific area (outside patio too) to enjoy a good cocktail and a good Happy Hour food menu. read more

Because of the rain, the only two roads into Solvang were closed, so we couldn't leave for two extra days and honestly, it turned into a blessing. The whole city felt magical, calm, and cozy, and we really got to enjoy it without rushing anywhere. It's one of those unexpected moments that makes a trip memorable. read more

Centrally located the Wine Valley Inn is where we chose to stay the night. The parking lot is off another street and makes it difficult to find the office. One we did we were greeted by a friendly desk clerk. The room itself was spacious. There was no microwave or coffee accessories. There was a refrigerator that doubled as an "honor bar". No complimentary bottles of water. The AC unit worked but was so loud when it turned on it disturbed my sleep and made my dog jump. Other than that it was okay since the room itself was clean. I noticed a tipping envelope for the room cleaners. We're checking out today so why would I tip a person I'm not receiving service from? read more

What a charming inn located right in the heart of Solvang! My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in August after finding an unbeatable deal online only a few weeks beforehand. We checked in late on a Friday night and found the reception staff to be very welcoming! We were pleasantly shocked by the size of the room, which felt HUGE for 2 people! We loved the roominess of the bathroom and especially the in-room fireplace. The room came with complimentary breakfast each morning, as well a complimentary wine tasting (with heavy pours, I will say) on Saturday night. The common area next to the reception space was adorable and stocked with lots of fun board games for guests to use free of charge. The twinkle lights hung throughout the property gave a magical feeling at night! I can't complain about the location - I'm not sure we could've been any closer to the main shopping streets and restaurants in Solvang. The grounds were very well kept as well. My only notes - parking lots fill up fast unfortunately, but thankfully, street parking is in steady supply nearby. Also, tragically, I found all the the pillows on the bed to be super lumpy. It was hard to find a comfortable position to sleep because of this. Since we road-tripped, I would just plan to bring my own pillow in the future. read more

We had the sweetest little weekend getaway here. The place is cozy, charming, and beautifully kept, and our room was very clean. I loved the thoughtful touches like the wine bottles to choose from and the log for the fireplace at night. It turned into the most romantic night. A foggy evening, live music next door, wine in hand, and just the most safe, peaceful, romantic feeling. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, and the location is perfect. It's tucked away yet right in the middle of all the restaurants, bakeries, wineries, and everything you need. Everything is walkable, and it's so fun and easy to explore on foot. I had a really good stay here! My partner and I came a couple of weeks ago to spend Valentine's day weekend and Solvang. The price was pretty reasonable for the holiday weekend and the staff were kind. The rooms were very spacious which is a plus but could use a fresh coat of paint and a replacement mattress (very firm, if that really matters to you). We did the package that included the spa appointment at the little place across the street and we thought that that was well worth it (with the bottle of local wine included!). The location of the motel is perfectly situated in the heart of Solvang and walking distance to all the attractions and festivities, particularly if you attend Danish Days in September. Thursday - Sunday they offer a complimentary glass of wine from 6-7 pm which is nice. We also received a free breakfast each morning - the usual dried cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, various breads and coffee. The room itself had some issues. The air conditioning didn't work and we had to call maintenence the first night. The beds were uncomfortable -lumpy, and very old/flat pillows. Although I liked that the sink and toilet were separated, there was no door between the bedroom and the sink area for privacy or to avoid disturbing the other person. So some of the basics for a restful, calming environment were not met. read more

I would give more than 5 stars if I could! What an adorable inn & such a pleasant overnight stay. Located right in the middle of town, within walking distance of so many shops & restaurants. We parked on arrival & simply walked the rest of the time, being so close to it all. When we arrived, the ladies at the front desk were very warm & welcoming, & accommodating of our request for a slightly early check-in, being that we arrived a little ahead of time. We had mentioned that it was my mom's birthday on initial arrival, & upon returning to go to our room, a birthday card & complimentary bottle of wine were waiting. So thoughtful, just above & beyond. The room was so comfortable - bed & pillows were extremely soft, shower was spacious with great water pressure & temp, large tv for entertainment. Includes nice shampoo, conditioner, & shower gel should you need, with clean linens, towels, etc. The exterior of the hotel is just as beautiful at night, well-lit & felt very safe, which is always reassuring for women traveling. Complimentary breakfast is offered from 7-10am, & included bagels, sausages, scrambled eggs, cereals, local breads, juices, & more. I so enjoyed my time here. We stayed in one of the cottages at Wine Valley Inn, and overall, it was a bit disappointing. In my opinion, it was overpriced for what we got. The website photos were somewhat deceiving, as they presented a very different image and experience than what we actually found. Even though we were in a cottage, the walls were quite thin, and we could hear our neighbors, street noise, and people talking in the courtyard area. The cottages definitely need some upgrades and attention to match the charm that's advertised online. Not the worst stay, but definitely not worth the price based on our experience. read more

Oh my goodness, I am shocked that the reviews for this place are not better!! We stayed in cottage 2 and it was idyllic. So beautiful! Amazing hand painted tiles and antique decor all over. These are old buildings and very well preserved in a fun way. Our cottage had a wonderful little hot tub. The stay included happy hour and breakfast. I wanted to love this place but didn't. It ended up feeling like a quaint motel stay and I was a little disappointed. Not terrible but for the price I paid and the area, I expected something a little more unique, charming and comfortable. Location and friendly-ish staff was a positive but felt a little odd at check in and very roadside motel to me. They did provide a walking map of the city which was thoughtful. Room was clean and everything worked satisfactorily with the exception of the USB ports on the night stand for phone charging. We had to use a block and plug directly into the power which was not a big deal. The few fireplaces outside at night were very charming and it was fun to see groups of people hanging out by them, enjoying their own bottles of wine and you could tell they were enjoying themselves. Extremely thin walls made it hard to get a good night sleep with all the noise outside and from neighboring rooms. Bed was cheap and hard but surprisingly we did sleep ok once the noise quieted down. Breakfast looked ok, think Best Western continental (iykyk). We skipped it and went across the street to Mortensen's for coffee and pastries. Technology could use a refresh. No streaming on TVs (cable only) and computers in the business center did not work. This little place is in the most amazing location and has a super cute Danish look to it with a neat clock tower attached to the property. With just a few small upgrades this place could be a lot more comfortable and a truly unique experience. read more

I found this property to be excellent. I love traveling to small, charming places, but I usually don't stay long because the hotels are not always the most modern or clean. That was not the case here. This property is clearly well cared for. It was impressively clean, organized, exceptionally managed, and had great communication. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. A special shoutout to Mariah, who was lovely and shared some great local tips. She was also hosting their complimentary wine tasting in the lounge, which was such a nice touch. Overall, it was a great and welcoming experience and a truly pleasant stay. We stayed in Cottage #1 and it was a 10 out of 10 experience. It was in the mid 80's when we checked in and the second floor was about 80 degrees. The front desk lent us a box fan which did the trick. We set it up on the floor vent where the ac was pumping in from the first floor and that's all it took to cool down. My wife and I just stayed in room 50, which was a chateau loft suite and while it was a great price and the location to everything was great, the noise from other guests was excessive and the walls were thin. We had an emergency fire exit that lead into a thin hallway that connects all the rooms and guests were letting their kids run through it and of course it is right next to the bed so that gets really annoying. Guests were playing music really loud and partying till about 2:30 in the AM along with arguing and other things. My wife made the best of it for her Birthday but it made me realize I need to do more research on Yelp before booking an overnight somewhere for a special occasion again. I am sure there are other rooms where this may have not been an issue but it was a rough night being woken up constantly until the guests finally went to sleep. read more

Stayed here for 2 days and the staff were super nice and friendly! The breakfast was great, the fitness room was clean and well kept. The hotel beds were comfy, but the bathroom felt smaller than usual. Overall the room was clean, they did take the dirty towels and provided new ones. They said you could either leave in a pile inside the room or outside the hotel door. Breakfast included toast, English muffins, and bagels, yogurt, cereal, omelettes and sausage and/or bacon (depending on the day). They also had coffee, tea, and juices. Front desk was helpful as they let us know our car had a flat tire which gave us time to make arrangements. Super cute fireplace with a little pond behind it. Overall, it was pretty great! Only downside was the bathroom didn't have a fan and the thermostat wasn't easy to change the temp in the room. There was also a few lizards roaming around and one made it into the hotel room which we removed. Conveniently located by a lot of eateries and shops, highly recommend a stay! read more

They don't even have the decency to tell you about the charges and you better check your card you have on file. They don't email you a statement just put charges on your card and when you dispute them they make up things that don't happen to justify the charges they don't even tell you about. I would give it less than one star if I could. Don't stay here! There are tons of nicer hotels and inns that have better amenities. read more

I love the location of this Inn. Right next to Mortensen's Bakery and Peasants Feast, two of which were on my list to visit. The room was spacious and super cute. It's also pet friendly, and didn't have that dingy allergy provoking feel to it. The room seemed well cleaned. The staff are super friendly and gave great recommendations, even adjusting them to my veggie diet. They provide a simple breakfast AND a complimentary wine hour. Some cons are: 1) the air conditioner didn't work. Even though we went in winter, I think because our room was all the way at the top, it was kinda warm at night. It was also super loud! 2) there aren't a lot of toiletries offered. I did go down to the front desk to get some complimentary lotion but it smelled so nasty, like play doh. 3) the towels were really thin. I think they can upgrade to nicer ones. 4) USB ports didn't work consistently ‍ Despite the cons, I would definitely go back for the spacious room, friendly staff, and great location! read more

Location! Location! Location! Just one street off the main drag in Solvang. This cute hotel is almost in the middle of the action. Short walk to all the stores and pastry shops. An even shorter walk to one of the best restaurants in the area, Peasants Feast. Parking is a bit tricky but not super problematic since you are allowed to park on the street. They do have a small parking lot next to the check in office and another small parking lot in the back. We got lucky and got parking right in front of the office one day and then in the little parking lot the other day. Solvang is a very walkable little town so once you park (unless you are heading OUT of town), you don't need your car. The folks working the desk were super helpful and friendly. They gave us a map of the property as well as the town, along with some coupons for 2-for-1 wine tastings at a couple local places. The complimentary breakfast was surprisingly good. Their pastries were probably made fresh by one of the local bakeries since they were so yummy. They even had some hot options like scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage.... along with bread, bagels, cereals and milk, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, juice and fruit. So... it gets you going to for the day which is super nice not to have to go hunting up breakfast someplace else. I mean... it's a town filled with pastries so you don't really have to go far, but a lot of places don't open early. So, it's nice to be able to just go to the little lounge / dining area to grab a quick bite. The rooms were good size. We had a room with 2 beds and we didn't have to crawl all over the beds nor each other to move around. The room was not fancy but was comfortable and perfect for our needs since we were not there much. The walls and door are kinda thin so if people are talking in the walkway/hallway ... you can totally hear them. In fact, the small kids a couple doors down were early risers and you could totally hear them. Who needs an alarm clock when there are kids nearby. read more

What a charming place to stay in the middle of the Village of Windmills and Fairytales -- Solvang, Ca. My 12 year old daughter and I came for Christmas 2025, which was a misty night, threatening to damper our plans to take photos at the town part Christmas Tree, which has a musical display every hour. A Christmas miracle: my daughter rallied at 10:30p when the rain stopped and we got to see the 11:00p musical Christmas tree show! The best part was the song "Let it Snow" playing as actual snow began falling from the sky. We decided it must have been part of the show and coming from the trees above us. A magical stay in a lovely hotel situated so perfectly close to the Village Park that we could have such a magical experience. read more

The rooms all face parking lots. The ones in the front are NOISY. It's like the windows are made of cellophane. You can hear EVERYTHING in the parking lot. Why people are hanging out in the parking lot, I have no idea. But they do and they are LOUD. The walls are thin too. The room felt like we were in a remodeled Motel 6. The sink is practically in the bedroom. At least the toilet and shower/bathtub are separate. The room and property were really disappointing for the price. Just under $500/night. It's centrally located, but I would prefer not to stay here again. I gave them an extra star for the free breakfast and the cute fireplace area. read more

It's complicated to explain. Check in was easy. The staff is very courteous. Our room was not ready around 3pm. They guarantee by 4pm. So we waited and plugged the EV to the charger across the street. When I returned the staff said they were to find me available room that I would like on the ground floor facing the cottage garden. Score ! The room was small. Very clean. But the bed creaked a bit and we both had a back ache in the AM. The room upstairs was noisy till about 10pm. Being on the ground floor near a walkway well people conversations become something we didn't want to join. Breakfast every morning which is not bad. The location is great picturesque and convenient to the main shopping strip. Overall a generous 4 of 5 factoring that we just love the town. read more

First time in Solvang and the city was beautiful, just like in the photos.. We at first chose a cottage here in this Hotel but they only accept 2 dogs , we have 3, so we chose 2 rooms instead.. The main place was great, front desk customer agents were ok though not too feeling so friendly, the maintenance , housekeepers, security and other staff in kitchen were friendly.. The structure of the main Inn was beautiful same as the location as it is in the main downtown and heart of Solvang.. Breakfast Food - ok, egg, sausage, cereals, oatmeal, yoghurt, bread coffee, chocolate, fruits the typical continental breakfast was satisfying, Bacon was as thin as a hairline though.. The service was fast pace, the worker was great in checking on transition of the trays.. The Nail and Spa Business near the kitchen, staff there who's chubby old woman was sooooo Rude.. A simple question can be replied with a simple answer and not a smirk! Rude and mean! The rooms - We stayed in 2 different rooms located at the ground floor.. Nice view at night with fire place, pond and very close to the parking, so accessible, no hardships.. But I only have few complains of the room.. Cracks on floor and ceiling, stains on sink, bathtub was not immaculate, shampoo conditioner soap dispenser was empty (but even if not empty I always bring my own though), now the blanket, comforter and sheets.. It has a lot of Dry red stains, either human or dog period! The housekeeper washed them but chose to re-use , just plain very unhygienic and nasty! Reported this to the front desk and informed us of a discounted room that will apply as we check out. Next time, please do not reuse sheets with multiple red stains, throw them as this reflects the image of the inn.. But over all, the stay was wonderful! read more
