Great boutique hotel in an excellent central location in Solvang. Everything is very walkable, which makes it an easy home base for exploring the town. The staff was responsive and helpful throughout our stay, and we really enjoyed the outdoor patio and courtyard area. Mad & Vin, the restaurant and bar located right inside the hotel, is also a nice addition and gives the property a lively but relaxed atmosphere. Comfortable, convenient, and well located. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely consider coming back.
This is our spot. I love the rooms. The hotel is so clean and fresh. The staff is exceptionally friendly. I love hanging out in the bar area. The pancakes for breakfast were delicious. And you walk out right in the middle of town. It makes navigating through Solvang very easy and convenient. It's like no matter where you are you feel that your hotel is close by.
Scent plays a really big part of making or breaking your day and so when you walk into the Landsby, you're hit with a scent that makes you want to curl into a ball in bed and sleep. The rooms were very tidy upon checking in, although there was an open bottle of white wine in the room (management was made aware of this and removed it and made note) since they have one red and one white bottle in each room available for purchase. Not sure why one was open but they handled that. They've got elevators and a couple balconies around the property that overlook different places. Would recommend staying here if you're ever in solvang.
When they say Scandinavian charm awaits at The Landsby, they really mean it.... A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of danish capital of America. Right in the heart of Solvang and walking distance to pretty much everything theres to offer. Your steps from the fame danish town, loads of restaurants, amazing and fun boutiques. There's loads of tasting room literally footsteps from the hotel. This place is perfect for it all. Right from when you walk in, the whole decor of the lobby just screams beauty. Whoever's the designer, major props to them. The perfectly crafted furniture which fits so well with the place. Front desk was amazing and friendly. Welcoming when we checked in. There's parking in the back both on the main level and covered underground. 20.00 per day fee. I know theres a lot next door but not sure how parking works there. Didn't want to take the risk. A little work area with computers is available. Each item inside the hotel is well designed and goes so well with the property. As it's a boutique, there's limited room but a good amount. Two floors, each room has its own unique charm to it. Even the hallways are covered in a cool wallpaper throughout the hotel. Our room, one of the king room. Simple yet beautiful. Once you walk in, there's the main focal of the king size bed. Night stands adorns both side. We also had a little sitting area with two chairs and a desk. A pretty design as well. Big flat screen television with a mini fridge and coffee maker. Nice plush robes, and slippers available. All the amenities, and amazing toiletries. Also, the sweet little bed satchel of lavender on the pillow was cute. Not to outdo it, there was an also a bottle of bubbly waiting for us. Each room is decorated with its own flair. Our friends had a room across from us and theirs was completely different. Still beautifully decorated. And the bed, wow... It was so comfortable. There's a restaurant on site, Mad and Vin which we've been to numerous of time and each visit was amazing. Nice to just come down the stairs and the restaurants is there. There's also a bar as well that offers happy hour. Let me say, the people in Solvang sure does utilizes it. We ran into two people we know who lives in the area. It's a cool little spot that has a television for your sports lover. If you want breakfast, it's offered here. Then you have the beautiful courtyard outside. Some of the rooms opens out to the courtyard which was nice. The patio dining of Mad and Vin looks out to the yard as well. Clean modern furniture with fire pits. Three sitting section all a fire pit for those chilly nights. And the perfect touch with lighting. Nice place to have tour cocktails during the day or evening around the fire. If you're looking for something nice, this place is it. Dining on site. There's a bar that offers happy hour. Bicycles available if you're interested in getting around town without the car. Walking distance from everything. Plus it's pet friendly which is alway nice. Staff were all amazing and very friendly. The restaurant is amazing. I believe menu does change seasonally as some items weren't on the menu from my last visit. We will be back again.
Beautiful hotel with extremely friendly staff located in the middle of Solvang. The staff are so friendly. From checking in, to servers, to groundskeepers, everyone is polite and quick to help make sure you have a great stay. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Plenty of paid parking options. They have a restaurant and full bar on site. First stay here and will definitely be the only hotel I use from now on.
I was looking for a nice hotel, but not without character, for my yearly solo trip and found The Landsby through some internet research. It lives up to the good reviews! The room was beautiful, the courtyard wonderful, and--from the lavender satchet to the Tolkien quote on the keyrings--The Landsby had all the little details that made my stay in Solvang superlative. The location is perfect for spending a day palling around Solvang (which I did) and is in a great spot for driving out to the country for some wine tasting (if you drink--I do not) or some nice visits to the nearby lavender farms and Mission Santa Ines. Very cute decor and very nice service. Will be staying here again!
The perfect hotel for a rainy Christmas vacation. This charming hotel situated in the heart of Solvang was the perfect place to spend our holiday. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant and bar area, a welcoming and helpful staff, and is very dog friendly. The rooms are decorated with minimal ease that creates a comfortable and warm environment. The suites were so nice! Our suite had a cute farmhouse door that we could open just the top to enjoy the sounds of the rain. The bathroom was perfection, a sparkling white, deep soaking tub that I used every night to relax. The lighting created the perfect ambiance making the room even more comfortable and vibrant. The breakfast was wonderful! Locally sourced ingredients and hearty portions created carefully crafted dishes that were delicious. The Landsby is the perfect place stay in the heart of this adorable town.
Clean, beautiful, and luxurious! They left a note for the details I put in our reservation. So thoughtful. Prime location... tucked away so you don't feel impacted by the crowds but right where all the good food is! The fire pits made for a nice evening chill spot. The hotel sends texts with amenity reminders and I texted asking check out time and got an immediate response. Highly recommend!
We absolutely loved our stay at The Landsby! The location was great. It's right in the heart of Solvang and directly across the street from Olsen's Bakery (btw, opens earlier than most of the other Danish spots in town). It made our morning so easy and delicious. We got them to go and ate on our breakfast terrace. Our room was very cute and modern. The water pressure was great!! The staff was amazing and made our stay great from start to finish. Mad & Vin, their in-house restaurant is also delicious and a great stop for a quick bite or dessert. The only negatives would be that our room was only accessible by stairs, so you have to carry potentially heavy luggage up. It's a sturdy staircase with handles, so not a dealbreaker for us. Our favorite place to stay in Solvang thus far and we'll definitely be back.
Solvang room 45 (deluxe room w/King bed) Pros. Location. In the heart of Slovang. Everything is within walking distance. Shower Water pressure was amazing! Cons: Walls are thin and you can hear neighbors and people walking outside your door. Can hear the water from other rooms. Mini fridge did not have adjustable knob to make colder. Drinks stayed cool whole time but never cold. Parking was $20? Both pro and con A/C system was extremely quiet. Probably the quietest system ever but the lowest you could set it to was 67° and I typically like my room to be at around -65°
We had a nice and comfortable stay here over the weekend. The location was perfectly situtated within walking distance to nearby shops, restaurants, wine tasting, and bakeries. Our deluxe room with king bed was cozy and comfortable, equipped with 2 chairs, a small lounge space by a small window perfect for reading and relaxing, small fridge, flat screen TV, and Keurig coffee maker. The bathroom shower included shampoo/conditioner/body wash. The sink area included hand-wash, lotion, hair dryer, and a disposable makeup remover cloth. Our room was located on the 2nd floor by the stairs and elevator. In the morning, it was noisey due to people walking by and housekeeping. We did however have a nice view of the mountains and public parking below. We had dinner reservations at Mad & Vin which was conveniently located by the lobby. They have a nice bar with some table seating. There is a nice courtyard where we enjoyed sitting by the fire pit and chilled. Staff at check-in was friendly and we received two sets of keys to our room and to the door which connected the hotel to the parking garage below. The check-out process was simple and efficient. We dropped off our keys in a basket with the instructions and received an email with our invoice shortly after. There is a $20/night parking fee which we didn't mind due to convenience.
If I could give the Landsby and the MadVin 6 stars I would! Beautiful hotel, it felt on the upscale side, and very clean. Staff at the front desk was very friendly and inviting. The hotel was on Mission St. which is tree lined adds to the quaintness! The restaurant Mad Vin was amazing, the food, the staff all of it! We will definitely stay here again!
really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! the staff was incredibly accommodating, parking was easy, and the hotel itself was stunning. loved all the indoor and outdoor seating arrangements and how walkable it was to all the shops and restaurants in solvang. my only critique would be that the walls are *incredibly* thin. if there's an event in the courtyard or your neighbors are speaking at even a slightly elevated volume, you can hear everything and that made it hard to sleep. but otherwise, had a wonderful experience!
I am going to let you in on a little secret.... Yeah, I'm going to share with you what i THINK is the best kind of getaway, well, at least in my humble opinion. It's the kind that doesn't abruptly end, but it just sort of.... keeps on going. Let me explain. Have you ever gone on vacation and said to yourself, or to your spouse or even to your kids.... "Gee, I could have really used one more night" Or Let out the exaggerated (Ughh)... "I don't want to go back to work tomorrow, I wish we could just extend our trip by just one more day" Well... On a recent trip with my family, We INTENTIONALLY did just that. My wife booked us a 2 night stay in Paso Robles at a beautiful boutique style/chain hotel. (The Ava Hotel in Paso) (Check out my review for the deets) Usually, when we do these short, weekend trips, I work up until the day of our trip and then go back the very next day once we return... But, NOT THIS TIME! Yeah, This time, my wife intentionally told me, let's book one more night on the way home from our trip in Paso just to break up the drive home and enjoy one more day off of work and time with the fam. Heck, I've got loads of PTO and who wants to be at work anyway, so it wasn't too hard to twist my arm on this one. And just like that.... Solvang, Here we Come! Yes, the cute, quaint town of Solvang is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway or even just for a one night stay like we did. Of course, my wife, the Queen of finding the best places to stay/eat... (AND I AM THE ONE WHO IS THE "ELITE" haha) booked us a room at the Landsby hotel and it was nothing short of a treat. Here's why: The Landsby is more than just a room... Inside of a hotel... Located in the heart of this Danish town known as: SOLVANG It wasn't just, "let's build a hotel where the people can stay and explore the town while they are here". At least that's not the impression it gave me! Instead, The Landsby has a Charm about, it has Character and most of all it gives you the impression that you are in a modern-day Dutch village. But one of my favorite parts.... The Room Key, keyword, "KEY" Yeah! The room key is an actual Key!!! A metal, lock and key, just like the good 'ol days! Ain't no digital, pre-programmed, modern day, technologically advanced system like every other hotel does it.... And I liked it! And to match the old school style key... The t.v is in black and white, the internet is run on dial up and the telephone is a rotary dial..... JUST KIDDING!!!! But wouldn't that be cool! Aside from the small town European vibe that the exterior of the building gives you, once you step inside both the hotel and then your room, you are immediately transported to a place that feels welcoming, familiar and most of all comfortable. Because this was a short stay (just a one nighter) we didn't take advantage of the amenities like we normally do, but next time we will. A lobby bar (our favorite place to check out), an onsite restaurant (Mad & Vin which loos really good), an outdoor courtyard to sit and relax, and complimentary cruiser bikes to explore the town. The Landsby is Pet friendly, so definitely check out their webpage for details for your furry friends. So....... Now that I've let you in on my little secret, I don't want you to keep it that way! This was such a cute spot for a weekend getaway in Solvang. The decor felt beautifully updated and stylish, and I especially loved the outdoor patio with fire pits perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of town and close to everything. My only downside was a very loud neighbor that disrupted my first night. That said, the staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure the rest of my stay was peaceful and enjoyable. Overall, I'm really glad I stayed here and would absolutely come back for another Solvang trip. read more

After researching numerous hotels near downtown Solvang, we ended up choosing Landsby for several compelling reasons. The hotel's cleanliness, modern decor, round-the-clock staff availability, & dog-friendly policy made our stay truly enjoyable. The impressive Danish-like architecture gives the hotel a unique & charming feel, transporting you to what feels like another country. It has a convenient restaurant located just below it, Mad & Vin, charges $20 per day for parking, but this didn't bother us much because the parking lot is very close & situated just behind the hotel. The hotel offers excellent customer service -- they were very accommodating when I called to make a reservation & promptly fulfilled my request for a microwave, which was already in our room upon arrival - free of extra charge. They have mini refrigerator in the room with 4 bottles of complimentary mineral water. They also provide ample supplies of conditioners, shampoos, & other amenities. Snacks and wine were available for purchase. We received a list of wine-tasting options, including complimentary and discounted opportunities upon check-in. As mentioned in other reviews, you may hear noises from the adjacent rooms & hallways, and noises from guests going up & down the stairs. While this is something that can be difficult to prevent entirely, some soundproofing measures could potentially help minimize the disturbances. The only downside for us was when the electricity went out for almost 6 hours with no backup generator. But despite the inconvenience of the power outage, we still believe that this hotel is worth considering for our next visit to Solvang. read more

After a long drive from San Diego to Solvang, we arrived at The Landsby and reserved a room overlooking the courtyard. Terry was wonderful helping us. Beautiful and spacious room with all the bells and whistles. Having said bells, we could hear the clock tower chime during the day hours. So nice! Great location on the main road to walk to all of the fabulous stores, restaurants, bars and wine tasting locations .We would definitely stay here again. read more

I can't believe this place charges $500 a night. The shower is so tiny you literally bump your head trying to move -- it's like washing in a phone booth. The TV only gets basic cable and is awkwardly placed off to the side, so you have to sit sideways to even watch it. This isn't a "boutique hotel," it's a converted motel with some new paint and a bar that tricks you into thinking it's upscale. I've never counted down the minutes to check-out faster. Honestly, I can't imagine a Motel 6 being worse. Easily the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. read more

We decided to take a family holiday trip to Solvang given its warm and festive vibe during the season. The Landsby seemed like the most modern hotel in town. We reserved the Village Suite for us, our two toddlers and dachshund. The size of the room was spacious and perfect for the kiddos to run around and give us space during bedtime as we placed their travel cribs in the living room. The decor is adorable mid century modern/Scandinavian. Starting with the good, guest service was great. Specifically, Guillermo was pleasant and attentive. We enjoyed the cocktails at MadVin in the lobby. On the downside, upon check-in our room wasn't as clean as we had hoped. The dining area had crumbs and the bedside lamps were very dusty. When I moved the lamp and turned on the light, a cloud of dust flew into the air. Which is unsettling to sleep in or near. The worst part about our stay was the pillows. They were so uncomfortable! No matter how much we repositioned, our necks were in pain and we basically endured two sleepless nights. I requested less fluffy pillows at the front desk, the female behind the counter said she'd make a note of it, but nothing was swapped. It's disappointing to spend approx $900/night and not sleep because of a poor selection of pillows. Unless the Landsby changes out their pillows, I don't see myself staying there again. read more

My husband and I stayed at The Landsby for spring break this week. We just got back and it was a wonderful stay, though there were a few things that could be better. First off, Kyler was absolutely wonderful. When we first checked in, he helped us with all of our bags (and we had many little bags and two large bags, instruments, a humidifier, and many other items), and even carried my husband's guitar on his back and held the keyboard in his hands while he pushed the cart full of luggage up to our room. He was absolutely amazing from the moment we checked in to the moment we left. Upon arriving in our Deluxe Room with King Bed (room 26), I immediately took pictures while I toured the room. Although smaller than I imagined, it was a good size for our three night, four day stay there. The room was clean, the bed was immaculately made everyday by house keeping. There was a tray of snacks and wine on the counter. The room had a desk which was perfect for my husband to sit and play music, type on his laptop, and attend an online meeting Wednesday morning. Two plush and cozy robes hung in the closet with care, which we used well during our stay. We loved the bathtub and filled it to the brim with warm/hot water every evening, though at first we couldn't figure out how to turn the water off, but did so eventually. The bed was comfortable and firm and we did not detect bed bugs anywhere. The hotel had a special 10% off Pedal and Picnic package which is better than the 10% off Spring in Solvang package deal because you get a free bottle of local Santa Barbara wine (you can choose red or white) and a picnic lunch along with an 8 hour bike rental. For the lunch, you have a choice of turkey or bacon sandwich (I recommend the turkey as the bacon sandwich was dry and had a harder to digest bread) or a garden salad. When my husband and I tried to ride the bike (they provide you with helmets and bike locks), we couldn't ride them, because my legs are too short. Even at the shortest seat setting, my short legs could not reach the pedals, so we had to forgo that free experience. We loved our stay at the centrally located Landsby. We walked everywhere in Solvang from our hotel, and one night, we crossed one street to get to the Lost Chords guitar shop and bar for a free evening concert (Wednesday - Sunday evening). That helped, because I was so drunk I could hardly walk back to the hotel. My husband did not like that the hotel had poor ventilation. The air conditioning took forever to start up and the windows would not open, making the room stuffy, especially after we both took a hot bath and the steam would fill the room and heat it up, making it uncomfortable for the both of us. Also, we didn't like how the bathroom had no ventilation either, so if we had solid waste, the bathroom was pretty much out of use for a while. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back next year in Solvang. I forgot to add that we also ate at the Mad and Vin restaurant. It was a nice experience. Also want to add that the seating area in the lobby smells too strongly of perfume. One evening, my husband and I had food to go that we didn't want to eat in our room so we ate it downstairs but could not get over the overwhelming and nauseating smell of lavender perfume pervading the entire area. It made our food difficult to digest, but we did. read more

The Landsby is great choice if you're staying in Solvang ! Perfect distance from everything and nice rooms ! The staff is friendly and the restaurant on site mad & vin is really good too ! We definitely need want to stay there for our next visit and recommend it ! read more

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by friendly staff, a beautiful property and just a good vibe. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary with a small road trip that started in one of our favorite towns of Solvang, CA. We will definitely be making the Landsby one of stops from now on. read more

I have been to Solvang many times but always on a day trip. This weekend we decided to stay overnight and chose The Landsby. The location is perfect. Right in downtown Solvang walking distance to restaurants, boutique shops, cafes and more. Lots of fun activities such as renting bikes, fun electric cars and surreys. The hotel is beautiful, with over fifty rooms with a nice lobby and a restaurant that serves good food. They have different size rooms and each room is styled differently. I passed by the village suite that looked amazing with its own patio and outdoor seating area. Would love to stay there in the future with my kids. Prices vary depending on the days of the week and time of the year. Obviously weekends have higher rates so we will try to go during the week. Overall a great place to stay at while in Solvang. Close to everything. Including Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. The staff is friendly and accommodating. read more

This is our 3rd time to stay here. We liked it the first time but this 3rd time they put us in a room that did not look like the other rooms we've had. No carpet and the TV is way off centered, you'd hurt your neck trying to watch TV. The biggest issue I have is the smell!! OMG, I have never smell cleaner or what it is so strong. I couldn't stand it. And it did not go away. So this 3rd room a lady came up and moved us to a different room and I asked her why does it smell so strong in here? She said because it was just cleaned. I said it's very overpowering and I was asked "would you like to move back to the other room." Kind of an uncaring comment I thought. Also, there are are no exhaust fans in the bathroom. You come out feel soaked and your clothes or night ware sticking to you. Had to get a mask from car to wear in room due to smell. read more

Highly recommend! Great hospitality! Front desk checks in via text on how your stay is & if they can accommodate you more in any way. Loved how the water bottles were complimentary in the rooms & they restocked them. Basket of snack is provide & first round is on them. The village suit had an amazing amount of space & even includes your own spacious private patio including a fire pit & cabana w/ an outdoor bed. Fire pit lit upon request. Overall a very clean hotel & LOVED the location. Very convenient for walking everywhere. The hotel gives you a "passport" for selective complementary wine tasting & deals. Paid $20 a night for parking which seems fair especially as everything is walking distance. The restaurant & bar & cafe attached were all great. The duck fries & calamari at the bar & restaurant are DELICIOUS. The hospitality from Alejandra at the restaurant was amazing. The bar was a great ambiance & the staff was very attentive! Everything surrounding this hotel will definitely be a go to for the next time we visit Solvang. read more
