I want to stay here again! We impromptu landed here as a breather from SoCal to NorCal. Solvang is gorgeous and this hotel was colorful and comfortable. The staff were friendly and the door to door breakfast delivery was much appreciated. I loved that they supplied a kettle and pour over coffee maker. Check-in was quick and easy. I did notice that most of the associates that I interacted with during my stay seemed melancholy. I didn't get any smiles. Location is perfect. Walkable to everything you need to tour. The hotel aesthetic matches the traditional Danish style on the outside. The hotel room has everything you need. I called to the front desk to see if I could pick up utensils, and instead of making me walk which I didn't mind, they brought them to my room! I had some issues with my room but the office manager remediated it as quickly as possible. After I check-out, they allowed me to leave my car on the premises so I could finish exploring the town which I appreciated greatly! I withered happily paid extra. We booked a room based on the description and images (colorful, updated, vaulted ceiling). What we were offered was very, very different. The room was $200 + it was incredibly disappointing. When we spoke to office they said they used old pictures but offered us a $50 discount, or a refund, but that left us trying to find another hotel. This is really not acceptable. read more

This was a cute and perfect hotel for our 2 night stay. The continental breakfast was more than enough food to fill your belly. And it was in walking distance to all the shops and eateries like all the hotels in Solvang. They had a pool and a little area to play yard games which we made use of. I know most people only stay 1-2 nights in Solvang but my husband and I said if we come back we would stay here and spend about 3 nights next time just so we can enjoy the town more and the amenities of the hotel too. read more

We were visiting Solvang for the Julefest. The location and good reviews were the main reason to book this hotel. I reached Solvang around lunchtime on checkin day. It was almost impossible to find parking anywhere. I checked with the front desk. They were gracious enough to let me park at the hotel before checkin. I also received a text when the room was ready. The room itself was clean and in good shape. Beds were comfortable. For breakfast they made me fill out a form with things we'd like. Options included fresh pastries, cereal, milk, juice, fruits etc. Breakfast was delivered to our room early morning. The danish were fresh and so yummy. They also have a pool which was heated and a bunch of games like ping pong. Will plan to stay here again for my future trips to Solvang. read more

Wednesday, 12-18-2024: Check in was quick & easy. The young man , who checked us in was very pleasant and hospitable. He had us check off our choices for their continental breakfast and choose the time to have it delivered. We chose hard boiled eggs, string cheese, cereal, yogurt, a pastry, and orange juice. Coffee was in the room. The room was spacious and clean with a king size bed. The bed was very comfortable. We brought our own pillows from home. There was a roomy dresser available for our clothes and other items. There was a small refrigerator but, unfortunately, no microwave oven. The bathroom was pristine and roomy. We were glad it wasn't too far from the office and it was on the ground floor. We had already parked in front of it when we checked in. How convenient! Breakfast was simple and delivered promptly at the appointed time. It was a good way to start the day for hoofing it around Solvang. We would definitely stay here again. The location is ideal, too! We had a really nice overnight stay here. It's essentially a motel, but I love how the exterior is built to look like a Danish mini-village. We got a King Room for a good price, and it was quite large and immaculate. The bed was very comfortable, and furnishings all seemed fairly modern and updated. The bathroom had a shower only (no tub), but it was very clean and well-maintained. There was also a separate dressing/vanity area, so it almost felt like a suite. The room we got was at the very front of the hotel, with a small patio table and a couple of chairs -- it felt like we had our own little cottage. I was afraid the heater might not be enough for such a large room, but it was more than adequate, keeping things at a comfortable temperature. I also appreciated that it wasn't positioned where it would blow directly on the bed -- that can be a real sleep disruptor. Location is great -- very central, within easy walking distance of most shops and restaurants. Plenty of parking when we visited. Staff was pleasant, although we didn't interact with them much. The pool was under renovation when we visited, but it would've been too cold to use it anyway. Wi-fi was pretty slow, which was one of the only negatives (download speeds generally less than 10 Mbps). It also would've been nice to have a Keurig machine -- the coffee in the room and the lobby was mediocre at best. Overall, this is a great option for a Solvang trip. I love our 2 story room. It's huge. Got big tv upstairs and downstairs. And have couch in the leaving room. The only thing I don't like is the bathroom is downstairs. We have to go downstairs to go pee at night. It should be upstairs next to the bed. But I still like it. It's fun and very comfy. And easy access to downtown. read more

This is a great family friendly place to stay in Solvang. They had a little putting green, ping pong table, connect 4, and chess to play. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a good stay. They are very hospitable. They even brought breakfast to our door at the designated time we selected at check in. The rooms were dated and the air condition/heater/fridge made noises that were a little frustrating if you are a light sleeper. If it weren't for those things it would have been a 5 star. The hubby and I enjoyed our stay at the Royal Copenhagen in Solvang, CA. This was his second time staying here. The first time for him was in December when several of his family members stayed here in different rooms. I finally had a chance to come to visit Solvang and we chose the RCI. I like the Danish architecture of the Inn. My hubby described the front desk guy as being kinda grumpy. I think he is more of a "no nonsense" type. There are no microwaves in the room so, I had to go ask the front desk guy to warm up my food for a minute. He was OK to do it. Glad there was a fridge though. I was able to get a good night's rest in the bed. I did not need the ear plugs I brought as it was quiet even though our room was by a stairway. They give you a list of breakfast items that are available (continental) and pack it up for you in a bag and place it on a chair in front of your door in the morning, We selected hard boiled eggs, decaf, Danish pastries and orange juice. The decaf is in a packet and you brew it in the little coffee maker in the room. The room and restroom was clean. Toiletries are very basic and we were missing conditioner. The lady at the desk in the AM was kind and apologetic. There are some activity options outside like giant connect four, cornhole, and chess. In the warmer months, there's the pool. As for parking, there was free parking onsite. There was a game we wanted to see on TV one evening but, the cable did not pick up CBS and that's OK. In the lobby, there's helpful maps to help navigate around the village and magazines regarding the Santa Ynez Valley. I'm sure we'll stay here again in the future but will bring our own toiletries. What a great place to stay in a great town. This was my first time in Solvang and we stayed here. Initially, they gave us a room with 2 queen beds, but we reserved a room with a king size. We had to go back and straighten it out but it wasn't a big deal. It was a good room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Every room gets a fresh Danish pastry in the morning! Solvang is a Dutch tourist town and most of the place reflects the Dutch architecture, this Inn is no exception. The grounds are very well kept and beautiful. I really liked the vibe with this hotel. The staff were really nice. I liked how they had breakfast delivered right to your room and that you could pick the time. I also loved how each room you stayed at had a different look for the building. However the colors inside room could be re-done a little so they pop more. The bathroom had a small shower with low water pressure. Not enough lighting in the bathroom, they had 2 lights on a timer in there, but when they were on,it made the bathroom hotter and made it feel like a heater was on. This Inn is right off the 246 highway aka mission drive , close to Atterdag Road. We had booked 2 rooms with 2 beds on May 17th -May 18th . Checking in was a breeze! Miguel helped me with checking us in , he also advised me of their complimentary breakfast served with a knock of our door in the morning, you can fill out the paper of what would like for breakfast. There is great list for breakfast whether it's danishes, to cereal & milk, yogurt, string cheese, orange juice, . You can choose which times you would like to get your breakfast in the morning. So that was very nice and very convenient. This inn is very cute the rooms outside look like little houses, making you think you were in Denmark . Outside parking is very spacious, clean and accessible. This inn is right near all the stores and attractions from walking distances, so we love the location! Our rooms were on the 2nd floor over looking over the pool & there's giant chess board so people can play! They also have a garden here, and patio Both rooms are very spacious, Super clean , very organized, both bathrooms were super clean, their beds are super comfortable! I slept like a baby & slept very well! This inn has mini refrigerators & coffee pot so you can have your coffee with small creamers. A home away from home. You will need to get your own water to fill it up. I Checked out at 11am by the help on Sven , he was so kind & sweet asking me if everything was ok? Ok ? it's was great!! The rooms could use a little TLC to reflect the warmth of staff and outdoor ambiance.My stay included breakfast yay.. very continental but then again this is not a restaurant..lol only thing is I requested 3 regular coffees and was given 3 empty cups when they know the room only has 1decaf + 1 regular boil it yourself per cup kit.. the kinda TLC needed I'm talking about. Rooms could definitely use a small coffee machine and smell treatment so walking into the room isn't the way you find out they are a pet friendly location. They have activities like golf, table tennis, chess, etc to keep your kids occupied. The breakfast was not impressive, just some cold danishes, yogurts and string cheese. Even though my trip to Solvang fell through, I still want to give a review for the EXCELLENT customer service I received over the phone. Miguel was not only kind and patient, he helped navigate thru a couple of hiccups I had thru booking.com. I had to call him several times and he never got aggravated with me. I was able to work out the issue, thanks to his assistance. Today, I ended up having to cancel my trip bc I found out that Amtrak allows pets on their trains, but not on their buses! And even though it was after the 72-hour cancellation deadline, he waived the fees! I'd also like to compliment a young lady and another gentlemen who answered the phone when I initially called to inquire about the pet policy, the size of the rooms, nearby tourist sites, etc. What a pleasant experience! I will definitely book with Royal Copenhagen Inn again as soon as I find a dog-sitter for my mom's spoiled maltese, lol. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed at Royal Copenhagen Inn last season and we had an incredible time which was made especially memorable due to the wonderful and accommodating service. We want to give special recognition to Miguel who patiently and politely answered our questions and went out of his way (even on the simplest requests such as microwaving our food) to make sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. We've never had service this exceptional from any stay in the past! Our room was very spacious and had a large king-sized bed for maximum comfort. The inn provides free breakfast every morning and you get to select them from a decent list of options. I stayed a weekend here with some friends. We had two separate rooms and both of them have a foul smell in them. I believe that It is mould. I feel like I can not breath when in the room. The breakfast they provide is brought to your door & at first you think it is a wonderful thing until you go to eat it. Best part of the breakfast is the packaged yogurt. Lastly, the price. The price for what you get is terrible. The only thing this place has going for it is the prime location in the town. Overall, would not recommend. Get a place on the outskirts of town. read more

I selected Royal Copenhagen based off the reviews and was very disappointed. I saw pictures of the rooms on line and was excited about the cuteness. I was looking forward to experiencing the whole Solvang vibe in the room as well as in town. The day before arrival I checked reservations on line and noticed a price difference in rooms. I thought I would settle the difference once I got there. Upon driving up I noticed the outside was very clean and inviting. During checkin, I mentioned the room rate variance and the check in person was short about adjusting the rate but I let it go. When I opened the door to our room I thought I was at a Motel 6. The room was stark white with no carpeting and no charm or ambiance. In disappointment, I sat on the bed and it was so soft and low I could barely get back up. I realized I would not be sleeping well but again, decided to let it go. There were plenty of firm pillows but since the bed was so soft, the pillows were not comfortable. (I am 5'4" and 135 lbs. including this info because I could understand the bed and pillow situation if I was a larger person) The bathroom was good size with a small walkin shower. The shower handle was broken and there was very little water pressure. After looking around a little more, I realized they had given me a handicap room. Maybe that's why the beds were so low? Idk. The sheets were all flats and not big enough to be tucked in. When I woke up I was sleeping on a bare mattress. It was a disgusting feeling. The towels mostly had stains on them, there were ants in the bathroom and either a mouse in the room behind the dresser or in the wall which kept me up most of the second night. On a good note, there seems to be ample parking and they have a little breakfast deal they will deliver to your room. Overall, staying at Royal Copenhagen was a huge disappointment and certainly NOT worth the cost! I do NOT RECOMMEND and will not be staying there again. read more

Based off the one night I stayed, my review is a bit skewed. The first thing I noticed was that there was not an elevator for the second floor. So I wonder how it handles people with disabilities or maybe just they just stay on ground floor. Plus the peep hole is not for people under 5 feet. That includes that magnifying mirror in the bathroom. My only gripes. Upon entering our room, we could tell that the room was really clean based off the it smelling clean. The room is very simple. A small open closet by the front door. A small desk next to that. Inside the room was another small round table where you could eat. There was a small refrigerator in the room. There was a view to the main road on town. Bathroom was clean. Bed was nicely made and clean as well. You had the option of having a breakfast box delivered to the room. The options included a pastry,boiled eggs, yogurt, string cheese, juice and coffee. I can't remember what the other options were. I did appreciate the breakfast box and having food to eat in the morning and not having to go out. I'd come back again to stay for another night. read more

Overall... 5 Stars! I've been coming to Solvang since I was a little kid. I live in Calabasas, which isn't too far, about 100 miles away. I usually come for the day. This time I wanted to check in somewhere so I could go to the casino with my wife and then get some good sleep. We woke up early in the morning to get breakfast and stroll around Solvang for a few hours. Then we checked out and drove down to the beach/State Street area in Santa Barbara. The Inn was fairly priced and the employees were all very nice and accommodating. The Inn was very clean and the AC and hot water in our shower all worked great! This is centrally located in the heart of Solvang. I couldn't recommend it enough. Will definitely come back when I'm ready for another 24-48 hour quick trip! Thanks!!! read more

Here for the first time visiting beautiful Solvang. We did ride through on another occasion but this is our first official visit. My husband discovered this place online and it's conveniently located near everything. On our weekend getaways we love to park our car and just walk everywhere. So if you want a place that's close to everywhere this is your place. Getting back to the Copenhagen Inn, First off there's tons of parking in their parking lot which is always a plus for us. Our room was downstairs. The first thing that I noticed about our room was the size. It was roomy and spacious and perfect for us. The room had wooden floors or laminate. They were beautiful and clean. There is minimum decor and the walls are bare. The room came with the usual: refrigerator, blow dryer, iron / ironing board and coffee maker but no microwave. The bed was comfy and I have no complaints. The pillows were okay and you may want to bring your own .The bathroom is a nice size. They do offer a continental style breakfast if you like. They put it in a bag and knock on your door and leave it. They gave us cereal, milk, danishes, string cheese, milk, coffee, oj, yogurt, and condiments. As far as room service daily I think you need to request it. I didn't require it. I usually just ask for extra towels. But a money envelope was left for housekeeping for those who wanted to contribute. They have a secret garden and inside is a small park and it's really perfect for your fur baby. Check out is 11:00 a.m. but since it was daylight savings weekend I did request a later checkout. Amy, who was super pleasant & positive and had great energy at the front desk allowed us to stay till noon. All in all a wonderful experience with no complaints. Again, thank you Amy. The outside looks very adorable, the beds are comfortable. They have great customer service and provide complimentary breakfast delivered to your room. This place is amazing! We booked it the night before and stayed for two nights during the week. The rates are very reasonable. The best thing is they are dog friendly. They have a secret garden that is an enclosed dog area with a lawn, some chairs, and a water bowl. Upon arrival, I noticed a few things...their location is perfectly situated right in the heart of the town so everything is within walking distance. The other thing is the property is well maintained and clean. We booked a room with two beds and it was quite spacious, and included a refrigerator. I love that it has wood floors instead of carpet. Since it was my hubby and I's first time in Solvang last month (June 2022), we decided to stay in town. This inn was very centralized and had good Yelp reviews. When we arrived, there was lady who locked the office and we immediately asked if it was open and she replied a little rudely, "What do you need?" and we told her we were checking in. (I thought, that was not a nice welcome). She did however changed her tone when she realized she grabbed the wrong reservation (1 night versus our 3 nights). We got to our room and it was bigger than a regular hotel room! Plus it smelled super clean. As you can see from the pics, we were surprised that it was modernized inside. I thought maybe the inside would have a Denmark flair but it's ok. The reason for 4 stars: - our room was under another room so there was a sweet spot that when the guests upstairs walk, it squeaks - the cable on the TV needs repair. We would be watching and it would freeze, get really loud then restart. There's channels that were not clear. - the vent for their AC could be vacuumed (you could see the dust bunnies blowing inside) Will we stay here again? Absolutely!
