I was just looking for a good hot dog. And reader, did I ever find it. The name alone caught my attention - Winey Dogs? Hot dogs with wine? I knew I had to at least try it out. I went in on a Thursday afternoon and found a nice shady outdoor seating area and a cozy interior. I was greeted warmly and asked if I needed help choosing what I wanted. I could see why - there are plenty of different ways to get a hot dog (or sausage) at Winey Dogs. The Red Dog caught my attention immediately - an all-beef dog with Gouda and wine-infused veggies. It was even better than I'd hoped, packed with savory-sweet flavor and good to the last bite. Then came the debate - that was so good, should I get another? Of course I should. For the second round I tried a Fremont - this also included Gouda, but this time came laden with bacon crumbles, ranch dressing and honey mustard, with a pickle on top. It was gloriously messy and just as delicious as the first. I walked away from Winey Dogs feeling satisfied, but sure I'll want to come back again soon. Winey Dogs is definitely a hidden gem of Yakima. I went with the Seattle Dog which tasted just like a Munchies dog for all the Cougs out there. They have a wide Friday of hotdogs, size, beverages, including local craft beer. There is ample seating inside, and a nice patio area with umbrellas outside, which makes for a perfect place to sit outside and enjoy a nice Eastern Washington afternoon. Delicious and inexpensive! Service was fast and friendly. I tried the Currywurst and a Lavender Bubbly Water. The curry ketchup on the dog was SO GOOD! Wish I could buy a bottle to take home. Size was decent, left me satisfied but not stuffed. Honestly, I wished I had ordered a second one because I didn't want the flavors to stop. Can't wait to try some of the other options soon! The Lavender Bubbly Water was good as well. They use pump flavoring, so it adds some sugar. I found it to be at a medium sweetness level. First time here a week ago, I loved it and told myself if I'm ever back in Yakima, I'm definitely coming back here. While we're normally not fancy hot dog people, we were quite intrigued by the way these folks are doing things - wine infused smoked turkey dogs definitely get our attention! We had the blue heeled and the JR show dog, both of which were wine infused and dressed to the 9's. The $7 per dog seemed steep until we actually saw and tasted them - they were pretty amazing! The wine infusions gave the dogs some really nice flavor and changed things up more than expected, and in a good way. The toppings were ample and complimented the dogs nicely. From reading about this spot, it looks like they're expanding the menu and after this experience, we're excited to see what that looks like! The price on the board above the register is 6.25 for the Seattle dog and 2.50 for the water. how it came out to 16.50 is beyond me. I'm so glad we found this place! Their menu is great with a variety of options but not too many too overwhelm. I tried the Red Dog and my husband tried the Fremont sans tomato: both 10/10! Big dogs and lots of toppings but it's the perfect amount, not the kind where you're just making a mess the entire time and barely eating. Perfect lunch spot, we left full and happy but not stuffed. I've been going to Winey Dogs since it first opened with the previous owner and was sorely bereft when it closed. I was very excited to see what the new owner would do when she reopened in January of 2019. While at first it was a little shaky they have started to hit their stride and are doing something special. Most often I will get the special dog of the week. For $6 it is an inexpensive foodie adventure. There is always an interesting selection of sides from which to choose (choose the damn potato salad!). The regular menu is great as well. It includes my favorite the Poocheesie a Yakima classic. If it's busy you may have to wait a little for your dog but Lisa and the guys are chatty so sit back and relax it will definitely be worth the wait. read more

To start, the man working there was rude. I asked if he could cook my hot dog well done and he replied they are all precooked and placed in a warmer. There was a hot grill right next to him, so it seemed like an easy request but apparently not. So I order the red dog. It came with half melted plastic tasting cheese and "red wine reduction" which tasted like watered down grape jelly (disgustingly sweet). I asked to add tomatoes. When I got my hot dog there was three halves of a grape tomato that cost me an extra fee. I paid almost $20 for 2 unimpressive hot dogs and a can of soda. Save your wallet and tastebuds a favor and go to Costco for $1.50 delicious hot dog and a soda. read more
