If given the choice between BWW or Wingstop, Wing Shack should be the first pick. My husband and I went with the boneless wings and we were very impressed with the breading to chicken ratio and how well the chicken was cooked. The fries were also fantastic, especially for crinkle cut fries, they certainly could have used more seasoning, but that is an easy at home remedy. The sauce flavors were also very good and well coated around the wings and not pooled up on the bottom of the container. Overall, very impressed! read more

I'll be honest. I'm a hard person to gross out when it comes to food, but... I could not finish my order. Fried mushrooms were decent--a bit undercooked, could be crispier, but overall definitely edible. The wings themselves were not bad--crispy and not dry, but the "sauce"? Is where they lost all of the points. I ordered the Golden Hot sauce on my wings, and the majority, and I do mean that literally, of the sauce was just oil. This picture is not even the full amount because half of it leaked out of the container and into the bag itself(and the bag sat upright in my front seat from the restaurant to my house, so it's not even like I was slinging it around). This place has changed ownership. They kept the same name but this updated version is way better! It's way more modern inside, more and better TVs, serve beer, better staff, and better wings. I did a take out order last night and got 10 traditional "Hotter" and a reg seasoned waffle fries. The fries were the best fries in Longmont. Wings were great. Sauce was flavorful. Not crazy hot. This place gets it. I am originally from Atlanta and I eat excellent chicken wings. It is a one hour round-trip for me to pick this food up. I'll probably pick it up twice a week. Teriyaki wings sometime, hot sometime, but, it is always correct and always excellent. They have not re-created the wheel but they certainly make sure you experience a smooth ride. If you get more than one flavor, it's 59 cents for each extra flavor. Our crew had Garlic Parmesan (okay), Medium ("heavenly"), and Spicy Garlic (great). Based on a delivery order. First thing, it took an hour to receive, which to me is a bit long for wings and fries. The food arrived well packaged, but I find the prices high for what tasted like fast food. My salad was ok, but I ordered boneless wings with sauce on top. What I got was chicken tenders cut into tiny pieces. I assumed they forgot the sauce, then saw a pool of sauce underneath the chicken. I found it odd they didn't toss the chicken in the sauce first. If you've ever been to a Zaxbys fast food chain, their buffalo chicken salad is probably twice the size and probably a solid $5 less. Additionally, I also just hate it when you feel nickel and dimed by a place. 10 wings and only one sauce? And I have to pay extra for some celery? Wind Beneath My Wings Wing Shack is definitely not for everyone and I can totally see that! At first, I was a little iffy on the place. The man of the house would always order from the shack because he just loves their lemon pepper wings but I wasn't a huge fan. I guess the reviews that I've read really tainted my opinions. After many-a-try, I guess it really grew on me. The delivery guy is the same person each and every time which is cool because now he has this little bond with the hubs. We also tip them real well ten, fifteen bones, maybe more if we rack up a tab. They seem grateful about it which is nice. They also know when we're calling since they have a little system. They have it noted that we always ask for "all flats" which they can't guarantee but usually do an awesome job at accommodating the request. One time they even forgot a sandwich in our delivery and I called to see if they charged us. They did and had someone ship it over to us with a few extras (fries & dips) which was thoughtful. The food is pretty good but they can sometimes over season but I don't mind shaking some of it off with no second thought. They take care of us and that's more then I can ask for. I'm sure they can slip up from time to time and use a little sprucing up here and there but, for me & my fam, the Wing Shack is a great local joint that won our hearts. read more

I'm trying to figure out why someone would give this place a 1 star review. Maybe it's a competitor from the Wing Hut? Can't tell. These guys take wings (and chicken, along with anything fried) very seriously. They have over a dozen different sauces (like hot, even hotter, burning hot, cajun garlic, etc.) and several dry rubs that give you an incredible choice of combo's for their various chicken meals. Small 6 wing meal, no problem. You want 100 wings? They can do that. Boneless? Yep. They have a rather scary menu of 'starters/fries that's basically, all heart stopping (literally.. as in, will cause a heart attack) fried foods from regular fries to mushrooms to pickles (all hand breaded). Rocky Mountain Oysters? Uh Huh. Hand dipped corn dog? Yea, they do that. All with available wild hot cajun sauce. This isn't just fried food. This is DANGEROUS fried food. The best kind. It may kill you, but man, what a way to go. Today I had the Western burger. A hand made burger (kinda like Five Guys does) where they shape it into a ball, make a hole in it, put in special seasonings and oil and squish it down and grill it up, all with a big onion ring on top and cheese melted just perfectly over the ring with kickass homemade BBQ sauce. And, it was freaking beautiful. What do I mean beautiful? Well, the burger LOOKED like the kind of burgers you see in those ads on TV where it's juicy and the breads fresh and full and the cheese is ooozzzing down the sides. That's how these guys MAKE the burgers. Not for a TV ad, but for ME. So, for under $10, I got a awesome burger, basket full of freshly fried up fries with just the right amount of salt, a soda and 3 chocolate chip cookies (3!). A full day of calories in one meal for under $10? Priceless. They also have some more mainstream fare.. you can get a salad, they have sandwiches, they have wraps and children sized meals. So, if you've got your healthy girlfriend or boyfriend there with you they can nosh on something that's 'reasonable' (i.e. won't give them a heart attack in the restaurant). Also.. this is not a franchise. It's a small family operation (a family of, I believe, 4..I saw the mom, dad, brother and sister while I was there). I think each of them asked me at least once how it was when they walked by. Very service oriented. Bottom line: If you're into healthy eating,this may not be your cup of coffee beans. Go have some sushi. If you want hard core American food Wing Shack's your joint. Sooooo.... overall, loved this local family run place. As a restaurant, it's a 4 to 4.5 star. But because it's NOT a chain and family owned, and Charlie Y. trashed them in a slightly suspect and unfair fashion, at least compared to my own experiences, I'm going with a 5 star on this one. read more

Best wings in longmont. Stopped here yesterday for quick lunch, everything made to order so took about 15 min to get my lunch but worth the wait. I sampled two flavors and ordered 1 lb wings with fries, and carrots/blue cheese got half "even hotter" and half "burning hot" even hotter is a tangy sauce that i would rate as medium in heat level and burning hot has a great habanero heat to it. Great little place. No, it's not a big sports bar like buffalo wild wings, but the food here is actually edible and the wings are great, which I can't say confidently about buffalo wild wings. The sauce is made in house, I order the cajun garlic and there's actually bits of the garlic in the sauce I can see, not just garlic powder. It doesn't come from a bottle on a shelf, they make their own sauces and dips. When you ask for crisp wings, you get em. Can't say the same for many other wing shops. Wing Shack is by far my favorite place in Longmont to get Buffalo Wings. Its a small location in terms of size, but their customer service, delivery quality, and overall options in wings and flavor are far superior to everyone else in the area. In the 2 dozen times I have stopped in over the eyars when I needed some wings for a party or event, I have never been disappointed. Food is great, prices are fair and the service is top level. When they first started out they only had wings available and justly so, but now they have grown into a great all out American Eatery having burgers, fried mac n cheese and chicken or pulled pork sandwiches. In addition to all of that, they have a hundred different combinations of wins in incredibly compromising quantities. Something also not all that known, is that you can mix and match sauces to put on your wings. For example I start with Buffalo Ranch and have them combine it with the Jamaican Jerk rub creating an intense flavor explosion for your mouth and sinuses. Most of the simple sauces they will combine for no charge, but there are some "premium" ones like the rubs that charge a bit extra as if you got some extra sauce. Its totally worth it and allows for a nice combination of flavors away from the norm. The food quality here is also really great and they seem to value and understand the cooking temperatures that some food requires. I think in the 500 or so wings I have consumed from this place, maybe only 10 have had that red slimey bone goop that I tend to find from wings not cooked properly. Its rare if ever. The same quality translates to their burgers and they don't cook them to a hard brick (unless you ask for that), its perfectly done and executed with a nice flavorful patty. If I had to give a negative to anything it would only be the Fried Pickles, which to me is kind of random as to if you are going to get a nice tasty pickle or a salt nugget. I don't blame the wing shack for that however, I blame the supplier and it happens sometimes with pickles given what they are, but its a common miss for me. The service as I mentioned in my opening, is pretty fantastic. There have been times when I ran into billing issues or I was delivered the wrong thing, although rare, was addressed immediately and correct just as fast. The delivery drivers are also very friendly and make an effort to care about your food. It doesn't feel thrown into a bag and tossed around the car before being given to me. When you do go inside, the staff has always greeted me with a smile and is eager to take my order or make suggestions, also letting me know about upcoming specials or events to think about which is really nice. Overall to me this is the best place in town for wings and you will not be disappointed in the service and quality of the food. read more
