This was the only restaurant we could find open for outdoor dining this afternoon! We didn't realize closing time was 8pm, we showed up a bit late but was treated with amazing hospitality. I had the Buffalo chicken salad. The veggies and greens were super fresh. I didn't need the additional dressing provided being the sauce that came on the tenders was enough. (Which I enjoyed) My husband had the chipotle burger requested pink. It was perfectly cooked! The fried pickles had an amazing ratio from breeding to pickle. Flabby Yellow Skin - three words that should never be uttered in, or about a restaurant specializing in chicken wings. Yet there I sat, to my chagrin, FYS slapping my chin. I mostly like this place, but just can't get past the wings. If it's part of the restaurant name, they'd better be good. Buffalo chicken sandwich was fine. Salads met our approval. Bird's nest of fries with cheese, green onions, bacon and sour cream was a good idea for pub food. Burgers are also a solid choice. They have a fine selection of beers on draft, a friendly staff, a nice layout with tables along the perimeter for dining and families, and a decent bar area. There are a couple of TV's if you want to watch a game. But I went to Wingman for the wingz. I was in twice and was disappointed. They seemed to be cooked through, and the meat was done. Fried wings tend to get the skin crispy, and then you can douse them in sauce. Barbecued wings will tend to be smoky and crunchy after spending a good amount of time on the grill, and the dry rub is all you really need. Wingman didn't achieve that crunchy exterior, but had the dreaded fys. Sauces were good, and they have some variety. Traditional buffalo was pretty spicy and the Thai peanut sauce was also tasty. The sauce tends to mask the texture, and you can crunch some celery and sip your beer, and still enjoy the game. I'll give it another try on a future trip to the Wallas. This restaurant has a good concept, but I'd like to see them raise their game on the dish for which they're named. read more

Update 2-29-16: leaping lizards no more half price burgers on Monday nights! Bummer. I had to look at the menu like 40 times (I hate chicken) and eventually settled for a salad. Half price burgers on Monday nights is the trend for many places in Walla Walla, so I have a rotating list, which featured Wingman at #1 for 2-16-15, but sadly the place was packed with no chance of a table. Why? President's Day. Fast forward a week, and I'mmm baaaack. Second time ordering the Chipotle burger, and the second time my taste buds are screaming. The bacon was cooked crisp, just the way I like it, and the guacamole, cilantro and bun (from across the street at the Walla Walla Bread Company) make a really tasty burger. First time, I sat at the bar (only place open); this time, at a table for a different perspective. Either place is awesome, depending on your dining preference. I couldn't finish all the fries that were on my plate (really, there were A LOT of them). Maybe next time I'll opt for the salad instead of the fries. Or not. read more

We had a pit stop here and we really enjoyed it! We didn't have any beers which I'm sure we'll come back and try. We got a Cobb salad and 12 wings which you get 3 different sauce choice... I'm a big fan of that! We decided to go with the tequila lime, boom boom and the chuckling buffalo. The tequila lime wasn't all that impressive, chuckling Buffalo is your typical buffalo sauce but the boom boom was our favorite! The boom boom sauce is some thousand island buffalo mixture but it was sure tasty- not spicy but just a little bit so it had goo flavor/ balance. The Cobb salad was good just your normal Cobb salad with a spring mix instead of romaine so that's a good switch up. Overall We likes it and would try new stuff when we come back. Seriously, the salad was AWFUL - a bunch of lettuce, about 3 croutons and a dressing with WAY too much garlic. After politely complaining to our waitress, she said "sorry" and that was it. Eh, this was an average local "Ram" or "BJs" or any other brew pub. The food was fine (nothing amazing), they had lots of choices for beer, and the vibe was sports bar. The place was packed, but they got us in quickly, and we did not have to wait long. Understandably not my favorite restaurant in Walla Walla, but for this sleepy college town I am surprised at how busy they actually were (for the amount of restaurants in the area). If you want a family friendly sports bar to catch a game, a decent burger and beer, and grilled cheese for the kids, this is your place. They also have decent outdoor seating. read more

I've been going to Wingman for a couple three years now and early last year I started asking for a dinner salad with every vegetable in the kitchen including a couple celery sticks I knew they must have behind the bar as it's a hard liquor, beer, and wine bar. And the salad is just delicious. Many places wouldn't bother going to this much trouble but Wingman doesn't seem to be bothered by the request. They do tack on a couple bucks over a standard dinner salad but it's worth it. WORTH IT! to have a real salad that actually has more then 3 veggies like most places these days. If you like a real salad, not two pieces of lettuce, one cherry tomato, and a few slivers of carrot, go into Wingman and ask for a dinner salad with every veggie they have in the kitchen, and a couple celery sticks. Not impressed! We made a reservation online, got a call from a very sweet gal who confirmed... We arrived and our party of 9 was split at 2 tables. We were visiting family from out of town so it would have been nice to enjoy each others company. Now onto the food- I very specifically ordered a burger plain and dry. That seems simple enough, but it came loaded. I can pick onion off, but when it has mayo slathered all over it, there's no saving it. I told the waiter about the error. I was brought back clearly the same burger that had been scraped of the toppings. There was a sliver of the cheese left on the corner, it was cold and the other bun still had the purple dye from the pickles, overall it's probably one of the worst burgers I've been served. The fries also tasted like someone dumped an entire can of beer on top of them... I'm not sure what they were going for, but they missed the mark. read more

Pros: clean and convenient and good selection of dishes. Cons: overpriced. at around $2.00 per chicken wing. More aggravating is the charge just to sample the beer on tap as you decide to what to drink. For what costs $6.00 for a beer they charge $1.50 or more for a taster. I get it, in a town of wine tastings you don't want to lose money on "beer tastings" but if that's the case then they could at least make the charge for a Taste commensurate with the amount of beer. Wingman is our favorite spot in town. It is our Cheers. We enjoy everything about this friendly, bustling pub/restaurant. The staff is always friendly and working hard. The food is great pub grub. It is basics, taken to imaginative and decadent levels. And it is consistent. Chef Yara has the kitchen running like a clock. They cook lots of food, it's always on time, and perfect. The owner Brendan, is usually there, and he is a hospitable, hard-working guy who remembers people's names and takes time to get to know his customers. The options for seating at the Wingman are many. You can sit at the classic bar, or in the restaurant area (where children are welcome). Or, on nice days, when they literally roll up the east wall, you can sit outside, or even just inside. The Wingman is good food, good service, great location, lots of fun, and very reasonably priced. We didn't order any wings. We came here for a snack and a beer before heading off to more wine tastings. The guy at El Corazon suggested us going here so we did. They had a good patio with draw doors so that even when sitting inside you felt like you were sitting outside, open concept or whatever you wanna call it. We ordered: - sweet potato waffle fries - jalapeno cheese popper things - beer I think my friend was looking for a hef and they didn't carry any so she had to settle on something else. I jalapeno cheese poppers were tasty with a good but not overly spicy kick. I ordered the fries and they were good as well, $6 for the portion though wasn't really worth it. Even though this is a wings place, we came for burgers. Yes, we know, some people go to McDonalds looking for vegan food or go to Chinese and order a grilled cheese sandwich but we wanted burgers. Yes, we were in the mood for burgers, only burgers and that is what we got!. And, yes, they do serve burgers as well as steak and chicken wingz. I ordered drinks first, an Icicle brew from Leavenworth, which had a subtle, well actually not-so-subtle, taste of vanilla and chocolate cake and my wife ordered a pint of cider. It is almost impossible to go wrong with cider and this was dry and very flavorful. We both ordered the chipotle burger and fries. Both burgers were cooked medium rare and we were not asked how we wanted our burger cooked (maybe because the restaurant was packed and the waitress was swamped). As we like diametrically opposed burger flavors, this was great for me but not so great for my wife as she likes her burger cooked (did I say burned?). The fries were good and were salted lightly. As this was a Friday evening, the place was packed and we managed to find a space at the bar by shoving a few people over a couple of seats. Well, actually they moved over and we grabbed the two open seats. The bar server was immediately attentive and we were able to order our drinks at once. As the evening progressed the number of people waiting for a table increased dramatically until there was standing room only. The wait staff seemed to keep ahead of the crowd and the tables were emptied and bussed efficiently. As this restaurant has only been open for a couple of weeks, it is great to see that it is being well patronized. Let us hope that it flourishes and is another addition to the expanding list of fun eateries in Walla Walla. (Next time I will have to try the wingz as the group next to us was really enjoying theirs.) On my most recent trip, I tried the Tokyo Burger. This topped all the other burgers I have eaten here. We did not originally plan on coming to this restaurant, but I am glad we did! Initially we were going to go to the Green Lantern to eat, but the staff there was so rude to us that we left. This restaurant, however, was great. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our time here and I would recommend it to others. We had tequila lime, parmesan garlic and sweet thai chili. Our favorite was the tequila lime! Which was a surprise, our whole table thought the parmesan garlic would be the fave. Only down was we ordered 2 appetizers a d 1 came out fast but the fried pickles came out as were finishing our last wing and only after a reminder to our waitress. Great beer as well. I admit I was skeptical - so many sauces and some that seemed a bit odd. We tried three ... Manila Verde, Thai Red Chile, and Wingzville Hot. All of them were AMAZING, served on an even mix of drums and wings so there was plenty to eat without ordering a ton. We were only in town for three days, but made it our business to catch at least one meal here every day, get the Manila Verde, and then try another topping. Service was great. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the weather from a shaded breezy table. I only wish that this place would open a restaurant in Seattle. read more
