If Yelp had half stars in their rating system, I'd give Wingman 3.5 stars. Been a patron of Wingman since they opened a couple years ago in Pasadena. I was told by one of the employees that their wings are fresh and not frozen, and I gotta admit, their wings are delicious. The crab pretzel is also tasty. They have a good selection of sauce and I'm a huge fan of their smokey BBQ. Just a note that if you like your wings spicy, get a sauce hotter than X-Hot as I don't find the X-Hot very spicy at all. The only main negatives I've found with Wingman is that half the time, their celery has been stored too long which results in brown ends (gross). Also, they tend to estimate the wait time on the shorter side. There's been a number of times that I've showed up in the time range specified when my order was placed, only to have to wait there as my food were still cooking. This is especially true during football season. I remember one Raven playoff game, I arrived during the estimated time and had to still wait OVER 1/2 HOUR LONGER. Needless to say, I was pretty ticked with that visit. Overall, their quality of food is pretty darn good, which is what really counts in my book. Wing night on Wednesday is worth it. 50 cent wings. Pretty sure you gotta buy in sets of 10. The wings them self aren't bad, the sauces are hit or miss. If you want hot get 2 levels up. Since it was my first visit I wanted to sample the wings at not-quite-the-hottest flavor so I chose Cry Baby. I also grabbed an order of tenders even though I was looking for boneless wings which I couldn't find on their menu board. The wings were very traditional in size but happily no "mutants" and the heat was more on the back end but very nice. Will definitely go for the next heat level next time but Cry Baby has a good flavor and bite. The tenders were huge! I asked for honey mustard which was great and sweet and sour which wasn't. Finding a great sweet and sour like McDonalds is tough. Chicken was juicy with the right amount of breading. Did I mention they were huge? There is a sit-down restaurant and carry out with separate entrances. I went with carry-out on-site though they take phone orders. Pricing is right in the middle of what I'm used to with wings. I'm always skeptical when trying a new restaurant which we have to do every time we move, so I usually try a place a couple of times before writing a review. But this first time experience was so awesome, I don't need another one to be able to write a good review. We had the hot wings after reading the hot wasn't very hot and they weren't. They were soooo tasty, crispy outside, just cooked perfectly and quite possibly addictively good. And we had the sweet chili wings, which were also very good. The flavors "hot" and "sweet chili" are much like BWW's "spicy garlic" and "Asian Zing" respectively. And the ranch. It is so hard to find good much less great ranch, but you have it here!! I actually like the wings, but a few weekends ago they got my order completely wrong! And I got screwed cuz they closed at 9:30 on Saturday, rather than 10, like it says. My fiance and I were pleasantly surprised by this local wing place. Much better in my opinion then bbw. We ordered two 10 boneless wing combos and found that we could have just split the one as the wings themselves were huge. The fries had a nice coating on the outside, I think it was a tempura batter. Moved to Pasadena about a year ago and was glad to see a wing place near me. Ive been here 3-4 times and I've been disappointed every time. The wings themselves are bone dry and the sauce is always a greasy mess at the bottom. The fries and blue cheese are good but I go to a wing place for the wings. But be careful asking for extra blue cheese because they will charge you $2.50 extra without telling you. If the owner of wingman is reading this I need you to make the trip to Columbia and go to the restaurant Chick N Friends. Lost my business!!! I ordered over the phone on a Saturday night for pick up. Upon picking up I saw that my chili cheese fries were not chili cheese fries. Took them five minutes to heat up chili and pour over what was then cold french fries When I arrived home I realized they had my wing order all wrong. I called them to try to get it corrected and instead I got a manager on the phone who after telling me that I did not order what I ordered hung up on me. Customer service in the hospitality business is supposed to be at the highest level. Don't look for it here. Oh by the way, I am in the hospitality business. I ordered 10 mild and 10 bbq wings yesterday when they had their 50 cent wings. The guy who handed me my order said he gave us extra wings and that was really nice of him. However when I actually ate the wings, they were extremely greasy, especially the mild wings. There was orange grease just dripping off the mild wings and it was pretty gross. The flavor and size of the wings were excellent. The wings are the non-breaded kind which I like. I tried the Md Bay which were excellent. Also tried spicy bbq and extra hot. The only reason I dont give them 5 stars is because the wings were really light on the sauce. Im hoping it was just this batch or you can order extra sauce. My husband and I stopped in for some wings and wound up getting fried shrimp, wings, a pulled pork sandwich and chicken tenders! The menu is reasonably priced, and the wings were cooked perfectly and very meaty. Everything else was wonderful too and the customer service was excellent! Their wings are pretty good. They're way overpriced tho in my book. I'll only eat here when I recive one of their 50c per Wing coupons in the mail, which they now only allow for boneless wings. They're extremely stingy with their sauce also, so ask for extra if that's your thing (they'll charge for it). It's a shame they're not more affordable, I would come here twice a week instead of once a month if they were. I prob won't even go once a month now, unless they change their coupons back to allowing regular wings for 50c a piece. I guess Fifers will continue getting my business in the mean time! If you don't mind paying $1/ wing that are no larger than anywhere else you'd get wings, then this place will be great for you!
