What was most off putting was that the waitress charged herself a 20% gratuity to my bill without my consent. I drove by this place and couldn't help but notice the big red glowing sign that read Wings! I had been craving wings for some time and was happy to find a place to fulfill my sudden urge for some buffalo style chicken wings. I was immediately greeted at the counter. The guy was polite and quickly explained that buffalo was a sauce on the menu and that the sign company made an error. I asked how long the restaurant had been open. He said it had been open for a year and family owned. I am a sucker for any place that has a counter to order from. I would rather have that instead of a waiter. So I ordered the wings. They weren't huge or small. In fact if you ever make homemade wings they are about the size you get at the store. The sauce was interesting. It was buffalo but with a New Mexico twist. It had just the right amount heat to them. Overall a very tasty wing. They have other flavors, so I have to try them all. They also have a red chile I am anxious to try. I think they've changed their ranch recipe over the years. It tastes like cheap bottled dressing. Wings are kind of tough and most are a good size but there are a few tossed in that are unbelievably teeny tiny. My boyfriend ordered the heat seeker wings and they were as mild and bland as could be. The chile cheese fries are decent, the green chile is super hot. Service is a little scattered. They did mess up my order once by giving me regular fries when I ordered seasoned curly fries but that's once out of about 6 or 7 times of going to this place. WARNING- the hotter sauces are EXTREMELY HOT! They will give you a sample before you purchase it so that was really nice and have even offered me a small cup for a soda while I waited. The wings are a lot better than BWW and Hooters. UPDATE: ordered chili cheese fries because my wife and I love them and if you see the picture you will know it was a sad sight when we opened the box. This place is tiny! Big sign out front, though. Like humorously humongous sign, comparatively. Not a lot of places to wait for ordering to-go/takeout except at the tables, so it gives the impression that you can't actually eat there. They do have beer, but their beer license had expired. So I guess, uh, moot point? I have been on a quest to find good Buffalo wings in Albuquerque, but frequently come up empty-handed. I had never expanded my Yelp search to this part of town - this is seriously out of the way, but I'm starting to think it was worth it (although it would be cool if it were centrally located ...). I think for ABQ, this is about the best I'll be able to get without cooking my own. Their Buffalo sauce is interesting and has a great deal of black pepper in it. This makes it an above average level of spicy. I would have liked a little less black pepper, but it was still pretty tasty. Definitely needs a side of bleu cheese, which they don't give complimentary with individual orders of wings. The size of the wing also matters - I don't understand why other restaurants and eateries in ABQ have such issues with providing wings that are of this normal size. But then again, I can't understand how so many restaurants in ABQ make such terrible wing sauce. Their sweet and spicy buffalo sauce wasn't good, though - it was like eating candied fried chicken ... which is totally weird. No spiciness detected. Could probably eat it for breakfast over waffles, though. Overall, if I'm in the neighborhood again (which, to be honest, has never happened until tonight), I'll definitely get more wings from them. read more
