I ordered the food to go which is was very easy because they tell you a timeframe, and you meet at the bar for pick up. Upon arrival, I walked in and was directed to the proper area and the order was ready to go! I really appreciated this. I ordered the 12 pc honey hot wings with a side of fries. The fries were really good. They were dipped in maybe a batter. Would return for these! I think my order may have been wrong because the wings tasted more like buffalo only. So, I had been hearing about Frank's from friends and figured we would try it. My first impression was it is *loud* for a restaurant. It was people talking boisterous and it echos. They let us know that the booths needed to be cleaned, and had a table available. Okay. It is in the center of the room. More noise echo. I adjusted my hearing aids and dealt with it, and had husband speak up. Food, was good, but not spectacular. I ordered the Ocean Plate so I could try the catfish and the shrimp. The breading on the items was well balanced. I ordered Sweet Grits instead of fries, thinking I would still get the coleslaw. Nope, just grits. Oh wow! This was pretty darn great! The restaurant is very cute and one of the best homages to Prince I've seen, and our waitress was very friendly. They serve wings and strips, not chicken in the traditional sense, but the wings were yummy. Maybe it was busy but after getting sat, it took 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order, and on top of that, nearly another 40 minutes to receive our food. It also took about 20 minutes to receive some water. Maybe it was because we were seated outside? I wanted to order a peach cobbler but didn't because I didn't want to spend another hour just waiting for food. If you haven't been to Frank's, it really is an Albuquerque must try. You'll find food here that you really can't find anywhere else in the city. When it comes to what to get, I always go with a classic chicken and waffles and of course, a glass of Kool-Aid. They have a lot of really great offerings when it comes to southern sides, including incredible fried okra. We went on Sunday evening, which was the perfect time to go because it was really calm. I thought it was pretty great!! My friend and I shared the chicken fried steak and the temptations platter. The platter came with yams, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese and fried chicken. Everything was delicious. The chicken fried steak was excellent and so were the mashed potatoes. I found the green beans fairly bland, but my friend liked them. It was definitely too much food. Absolutely the best Waffles anywhere!, but one must order the pecan bacon sauce with them. They are good just with the syrup, but 100 times better with the pecan bacon sauce and the service is very, very good also! The ambience is relaxing too. Traveling through Albuquerque and found this wonderful place. Located in a mixed, industrial/business area, this place serves some of the best Soul Food I've had in a long while. The ribs were fried to perfection but lacking a bit of flavor. The Mac and cheese tasted like a box recipe nothing spectacular there. The greens were okay, no smoked turkey as stated but they taste like southern greens. The fish was fried a bit too hard for my liking but a little hot sauce lemon juice and tartar sauce went a long way. I'd definitely recommend. This was my family's first time visiting this restaurant. I've always heard good things about it but we never really go driving out here. I'm so glad we made the trip out, because it was really good. Good service, great music and delicious food. Wall art was pretty cool too. When we arrived, the hostess stated it would be a 40 minute wait. But we probably waited 15 minutes and then our beeper went off. It was after the lunch rush, but when we arrived there were still a lot of people dining there. We were seated and told our waitress was going to be with us in 5 minutes. Which was totally fine, because this was our first time here and we didn't really know what to order. Since it was our first time, we decided to try the chicken and waffles. Although they do serve up many different items, like shrimp, ribs, chicken fried steak, catfish and a wide variety of side dishes. Everything on that side dish menu sounded so good too. We'll have to try it next time. We ordered the 6 wings and 2 waffles, also the 2 tenders and 1 waffle. We were anxiously waiting for our food. Looking around us, everyone's plate looked good. And when the time came, oh wow! It looked so good and the chicken was juicy. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food. The waffles too, delicious too. Our server was helpful and attentive.
