I recently had the pleasure of dining at Frank's Chicken and Waffle in Albuquerque, NM, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly set the stage for what would be an unforgettable meal. The rustic charm of the decor, combined with the lively buzz of happy diners, made it feel like a home away from home. I started with the Shrimp and Grits, and let me tell you, it was a revelation. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, plump, and juicy, seasoned to perfection with a subtle kick that danced on my taste buds. The grits were creamy and rich, with just the right amount of buttery goodness, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that left me wanting more. Next up was the Fried Chicken and Waffle Jr. Plate, a true masterpiece. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, seasoned with a secret blend of spices that elevated it to new heights. The waffle was fluffy and golden, a perfect vessel for soaking up every drop of syrup. Came in for a late lunch early dinner and the place was busy!! Got the 6 wings and 2 waffles which were really good and just a ton of food. Washed it down with a kool aid which brought back to the good ole days! The food was good and all but the staff and vibeof the restaurant was what really did it for me. Super friendly staff and just a really fun environment. I'll be back.
This place is one of my fav spots in town, not only because of the delicious food and hospitality, but also because of the community events they host. They also have a wide arrangement of vinyl you may never find on their second floor. I've had their chicken and waffles which were delicious and most recently had the fried fish. Everything is very flavorful and tasty. Plus there's always something to admire with all the special memorabilia throughout the restaurant. You won't regret going to visit Frank and his team.
I ordered the food to go which is was very easy because they tell you a timeframe, and you meet at the bar for pick up. Upon arrival, I walked in and was directed to the proper area and the order was ready to go! I really appreciated this. I ordered the 12 pc honey hot wings with a side of fries. The fries were really good. They were dipped in maybe a batter. Would return for these! I think my order may have been wrong because the wings tasted more like buffalo only. I think I'll try something different on my next trip. The sweet tea was sweet, which is hard to come by unless you're more south. I also ordered the catfish and fries as well. The catfish was pretty good, and would try again ordering in.
So, I had been hearing about Frank's from friends and figured we would try it. My first impression was it is *loud* for a restaurant. It was people talking boisterous and it echos. They let us know that the booths needed to be cleaned, and had a table available. Okay. It is in the center of the room. More noise echo. I adjusted my hearing aids and dealt with it, and had husband speak up. Food, was good, but not spectacular. I ordered the Ocean Plate so I could try the catfish and the shrimp. The breading on the items was well balanced. I ordered Sweet Grits instead of fries, thinking I would still get the coleslaw. Nope, just grits. I wanted to know if the coleslaw was viniger based or mayo based... sweet or tangy- so no idea. Our wait staff said hi, didn't check on us much. It was okay. Husband ordered, 8 piece Tenders and Waffles and fried Mushrooms. The mushrooms came out first which was nice. They were down right good mushrooms and a rarity in Albuquerque. The waffle was a thin waffle that balanced the chicken well.
Oh wow! This was pretty darn great! The restaurant is very cute and one of the best homages to Prince I've seen, and our waitress was very friendly. They serve wings and strips, not chicken in the traditional sense, but the wings were yummy. Husband had the shrimp and grits and said it was some of the best grits he's ever had outside of the "south". Prices were reasonable, and we left with 3 to-go boxes!

Maybe it was busy but after getting sat, it took 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order, and on top of that, nearly another 40 minutes to receive our food. It also took about 20 minutes to receive some water. Maybe it was because we were seated outside? I wanted to order a peach cobbler but didn't because I didn't want to spend another hour just waiting for food. The waitress felt bad and did not charge me extra for the chili cheese fries since she knew it took a long time, but probably won't be back because of slow service.

I thought it was pretty great!! My friend and I shared the chicken fried steak and the temptations platter. The platter came with yams, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese and fried chicken. Everything was delicious. The chicken fried steak was excellent and so were the mashed potatoes. I found the green beans fairly bland, but my friend liked them. It was definitely too much food. We probably could've shared one thing, but it was fun and yummy. Next time I go, I would probably try their chicken and waffles. Fun place!

We finally checked Frank's Famous Chicken & Waffles as part of our quest for good breakfast places (with good AC for this hot summer). The ambiance is clearly musical with not only nice tunes but music icons on their walls. The good side of the south was clearly thriving here! They had quite the amount of patrons so it took a little while. All staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. We both ordered a mason jar of the regular iced tea and the 2 Tender Famous and replaced the regular waffle with the Pecan & Bacon Waffle. The chicken tenders were on the small side. However, the flavor was great! I am unsure what seasoning they use or what they put on the batter, but it was quite delicious on its own. The waffles had a good amount of caramel sauce, pecans, and bacon. Both the pecans and bacon were crunchy, giving it a very satisfying texture to the meal. Both elements were great together as well, with a lot of sweet and a bit of savory. If I were to change something it would be a thicker waffle and bigger tenders, but I know that may increase the cost of the dish. Also, a spicy option would be nice with either a special buffalo sauce or green chile (since it's a staple here). Overall, I am glad we finally made it to this place as we had a good experience and good food. There are many other items I would be ready to try the next time we are here. read more

This place is a classic! It's small but has the best atmosphere and food. The service was excellent! The decor on the wall is very entertaining to say the least. It's got memorabilia galore! This is one of the few places that even has chicken & waffles. You more than likely will have a wait because it is so small, but it's worth the wait, trust me! read more

Danielle was our waitress and she was very friendly and personable I really enjoyed talking with her, she was very knowledgeable and gave us some history about the restaurant. Wow. Moved to NM from Gorgeous Prince George's County, MD. My wife grew up there and said the restaurant feels like it could be located in Bowie. The honey hot wings were scrumptulecent! The grits were hearty. The butter and syrup savory and sweet. The waffles hold syrup and butter and wrap around the chicken nicely. A Belgian Waffle Option would we swell. For the Owner, find "Taste of Belgium" in Cincinnati, OH. Hunty said the Nashville hot wings were perfect! Was pleased there were Mimosas of offer. read more

Love love LOVE FRANK'S! Everything you order is always hot, fresh, seasoned perfectly, and delicious! We've been here several times but today we decided to sit outdoors in the patio area which was new for us. We took our dog and a waitress brought him water right away without us asking. Drinks were brought out quickly as was our food. The waitress was friendly and helpful and got everything perfectly! We usually get the chicken and waffles but today we opted for sandwiches. We ordered the chicken sandwich and the shrimp po boy. We also ordered a hot link and some tenders. All superb! read more

Traveling through Albuquerque and found this wonderful place. Located in a mixed, industrial/business area, this place serves some of the best Soul Food I've had in a long while. Service was excellent and our food was served fresh in less than 15 minutes. My chicken wings were delicious and the Mac and Cheese was top notch too! Everyone there was very nice and if you're into music, lots of cool memorabilia throughout the restaurant. Bonus: only a few blocks away from historic Route 66 read more

I have been hearing about this place as of late, so I had to check it out. I ordered the 4 Tender Famous Chicken as well as a hot link for lunch, since I was very hungry that day. I will report that this place lives up to the hype. Add a little bit of hot sauce on the tenders and the syrup on the waffles and you have yourself some lunch. That hot link was also serious stuff. Tried franks today for the first time, had the catfish and my mom had the chicken fried steak. Everything was amazing best okra I ever had! BTW there sweet tea is to die for one of the daughters served us, didn't catch her name but she was the sweetest girl!! We will be back! Keep on keeping on frank and fam read more

Inside was pretty packed but a small quaint place. The server was nice. I preferred my food to go. I ordered fried ribs, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, a side filet of catfish for $26. The ribs were fried to perfection but lacking a bit of flavor. The Mac and cheese tasted like a box recipe nothing spectacular there. The greens were okay, no smoked turkey as stated but they taste like southern greens. The fish was fried a bit too hard for my liking but a little hot sauce lemon juice and tartar sauce went a long way. I'd definitely recommend. I want to return to try the chicken and waffles and gumbo. read more

People, Process, Product all excellent. Service was good and accommodation's easy for a large party ... We enjoyed the food, but they need a better fly zapper... TMTC - Too many too count... was buzzing all over... Chicken XLT, Waffle Great - Tea a bit pricey...
