My family and I wanted to try and eat inside, but the door was locked so we went through the drive-through, which is still OK because it wasn't a long line like it has been for weeks. The wait wasn't that long in the drive thru, which is a plus since again it's our first time here. We took a little bit of time to look over the menu and we finally decided we were just going to order the chicken wings with sweet red chili, which was very good and chicken tenders with the side sauces of slim sauce and Cayenne ranch. Fast food chicken. Not really expecting much but decided to stop and see what the whole hype was about. Yes the line is very long but it moves pretty smooth considering. Staff was very friendly directing traffic. We have never been to Slim Chickens before so I couldn't decide which sauces to get so i got 2 10 packs of sauces and we mixed and matched. We ended up loving the sweet red chili, sriracha garlic, spicy bbq, garlic parmesan and the mango habanero sauces the best. We did try both chicken tenders and wings. Both were decent for fried chicken but could have used more seasoning. Glad for the sauces. The fries were decent, not something to write home about. The fried pickles were good, not too soggy. I'm a bit shocked at the 3 star average here. We came by for our first visit on a busy Sunday lunch/after church crowd. The young staff was outstanding and crazy efficient. We watched as they interacted with guests and were impressed with the ease at which they took care of business. They are obviously cross trained as I saw 5 different ones operate the register during highs and lows of traffic. They also were quick to keep the tables cleaned as patrons left. The food was very good and came out of the kitchen quickly. We especially enjoyed the French fries. Simple pleasures maybe, but certainly a bonus of all the other choices. Didn't look at the food before we got home and when we did, oh boy! I do not exaggerate reviews because I don't want to be unfair to the store, but I have never seen chicken like this. All three of us in the Family could barely pull the meat of the bones it was so dry and hard. I wasn't burnt so the only thing I can assume is that it sat under a heat lamp for a very long time before being served. There is no reason for this, you could tell visually that it was dried out and tough and it never should have been given to anyone. Slim Chickens kind of surprised me. The food was great, the service was happy, and the restaurant itself has a great "small town bbq joint" vibe to it. Despite being short handed (my wife spoke to the manager after our meal to give compliments and the manager said that they were short staffed) the food came out quick. We got a nice variety of food. We tried traditional wings, the tenders, and the chicken sandwich. The tenders are up there with the best I've had. The wings were great - and a solid price as well. Slims chicken Tenders have more flavor than Canes , 17 sauces , of course extra sauces cost $0.39 for extra but worth it I had honey mustard and mango habanero. I've come here with my family a few times and each time has been great, I've never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, the portions are quite a good size, and the prices are fair.
