If you know where Hot Tamales is, go behind it and hit Upscale Rio! First of all, this place has so many options of what I'd call comfort food and everything is good! They have shakes, desserts, yummy starters, mac and cheese, burgers and much more! What's my favorite thing? So many items are gluten free!! Hallelujah!! Even the burgers can be ordered with a gluten free bun! We also had a super sweet waitress! I had to go gluten free last fall and it really cut down on us eating out as most places have little to no options. Here, MOST things are gluten free!! Like what you may ask? Well, today I had chicken fried chicken, green chile gravy, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables- a medley of corn, Lima beans ,bell peppers and red onions. They use a gluten free rice flour and the batter on the chicken was crispy and delicious!! They are also super generous with their portions so I took half of my food home and can't wait for dinner! I also had a double chocolate shake and a cold brew. They proudly brew Whispering Bean Coffee which is super tasty! My husband had the Green Chile Chicken Pot Pie and really enjoyed it and ate every bite! My mother in law had the Basic Cheddar Burger with fresh cut fries and raved about it. She also had a Key Lime Pie Shake. No photo of this, sorry! They normally have a gluten free fruit cobbler but they were out. I'll be back to try that for sure! All I know is I found a place that has super tasty gluten free options that I can't find anywhere else. I love you Upscale Rio! I'll be sharing this with all my gluten free friends! See you soon!! XOXO

Upon the arrival of the dishes, the entire assembly was struck with a sense of profound wonder at…read morethe sheer magnitude of the provisions set before us. To state the matter plainly, the portion sizes were of a wild and almost chaotic generosity, recalling the grand banquets of antiquity rather than the conservative pairings of our modern era. It was a display of hospitality that bordered on the extravagant, ensuring that even the most robust and demanding appetite among us was entirely subdued. Yet, this monumental scale did not come at the expense of quality. The flavors achieved by the kitchen were of an extraordinarily superior character, possessing a richness and depth that brought immediate delight to the palate. Each ingredient had been married to the next with a masterful understanding of culinary harmony, producing a profile that was at once bold, invigorating, and thoroughly wholesome. Every morsel delivered to the tongue was a revelation, and the meal proved to be so exceedingly filling that a contented silence soon fell over the table--a silence born of absolute satisfaction and physical comfort. The physical surroundings wherein we consumed this magnificent repast were of such a refined and captivating beauty that they deserve their own dedicated commendation. The design of the quarters was an absolute triumph of architectural taste, calculated to enchant the senses and elevate the spirit from the very moment one crossed the threshold. The grand salon was appointed with an elegance that managed, through a miracle of decoration, to balance immense luxury with a welcoming comfort. The illumination was perfectly judged, casting a warm and benevolent glow over a company of a most respectable character. Every appointment, from the polished woodwork to the fine draperies, conspired to create an atmosphere of pure tranquility and sophisticated charm. If one were to apply a modern scale of perfection to these quarters, they would undoubtedly merit a score of ten out of ten, for there was not a single detail out of harmony, nor a single element that did not contribute to the overall splendor of the environment. To complete this trinity of hospitality, the governance of the floor was conducted with a degree of perfection that reflects the highest possible credit upon the house. The staff moved about their duties with a quiet, synchronized grace that resembled a beautifully rehearsed courtly dance. From the initial reception at the portal to the final farewell, the attendants displayed an incredible diligence and a profound deference. They possessed an almost supernatural intuition, appearing precisely at the moment a vessel required replenishing or a table required clearing, yet vanishing back into the background with such silent velocity that our private discourse was never once interrupted. Their speech was marked by an admirable politeness, entirely free from any vulgar familiarity, reflecting a pride in their noble calling that is a rare privilege to witness in this hurried age. To reflect upon the experience as a whole is to contemplate a flawless tapestry of hospitality. The incomparable abundance and zest of the fare, the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings, and the peerless diligence of the servants conspired to create an evening that borders on the sublime. I shall, with the utmost urgency and a clear conscience, return to this sanctuary of culinary art at the earliest opportunity, and I advise all persons of discerning judgment to do the same without delay.

First off their food portions are huge and the service and atmosphere is so welcoming. I met several people that work there, and they're all incredibly sweet and friendly. Daisy, Rylee, Brandon, Arron, managers Shelby (amazing), and Johnny all of whom greeted me and their service is beyond super stellar. I ended up ordering a cheeseburger and fries off the kids menu just because the size is like a regular portion for an adult. Typically this place is packed, but I popped by on Friday afternoon when there wasn't as many people so I got all the attention! Lol, no but seriously Brekki is 5 stars--6 stars just for their attention to customers and quality of their work. Parking is pretty available, plenty outdoor spaces to eat or inside. I'll coming back here soon without a doubt.

The sunrise burger is still one of hubby's favorites in the city, and the fries are incredible. I tried the High Point Mac & cheese (green chile mac w/steak sliced on top) and yowza. So much flavor, and the steak was perfectly tender. The restaurant has food nailed. And our server was amazing. Unfortunately, th manager did a poor job estimating how busy they'd be on a Friday night, so the two servers were running ragged. The manager pitched in, but they were playing catch up with the silverware and we had to wait for it when the food arrived. Which, no biggie, but it was a fork when I had steak and my husband had a messy burger. So we right away asked for knives. I pointed out my steak, and the manager got snarky with us like she got it. But then she brought us butter knives. When I got up and went to the bar to ask for a steak knife, her attitude was even faker. I don't abide fake when someone's eyes and mouth clearly say they think you're stupid or annoying or both. As a manager, you learn how to school your face and keep people happy or you don't last in management long. Also, if she miscalculated staffing, then it should have been her job to get into the bathrooms and keep them presentable. They weren't. Paper everywhere, and the walls need some serious touch ups. It's hard for people to trust the food safety if the job-food public areas aren't kept clean and well-maintained, you know? We'll be back because the food IS awesome and we always have an enjoyable meal. But they definitely need to turn an eye toward building upkeep and service.

Unfortunately, my take away was that the owners, maybe managers, are new in the restaurant management space. It feels like a lot of different ideas are happening but not converging as well as they could. The general impression I got was: confusion. A few specific issues stood out: * Friendly, enthusiastic counter service, but overworked, focused on too many tasks. * Drip coffee was not ready at 10 a.m. * About a 20-minute wait at the table for coffee to brew * Huevos were nicely presented but uneven in execution (papas flavorful but a little too salty, beans bland and unseasoned) * Outdoor seating is a nice idea, but tables felt small and cramped * Heavy direct sun on outdoor tables (limited shaded seating; north side might be worth exploring) * Exterior branding does not clearly communicate that this is a restaurant - feels more like branding for tattoo parlor/vapeshop/auto detailing * Overall concept feels pulled in too many directions * Menus are difficult to read (cramped text, color choice, and font) To the owners: I really hope you make this work. I would consider bringing in a consultant re service, hiring a graphic designer to up the branding/menu game, and focus on food consistency. It may be worth looking at books on customer service and restaurant psychology such as: * Service Design: From Insight to Implementation * The Science of Shopping * the Restaurant & Bar Marketing series by Erik Shellenberger I would love to delete this review and replace it with 5 stars in the future.

It's solid New Mexican cooking by…read morea skilled artisan - notably tastier than most local places _even in spite of_ the fact that no animal products are used in the chile. Yes, the chiles are vegan. (So are the beans - pressure-cooked to creamy tenderness.) Yes, they're delicious - both the red (from pods!) and the green. (And, yes, it's me - noted grumpy traditionalist who usually wants an extra scoop of bacon grease in pretty much every dish - who's writing that.) The room is small, but well thought-out. There are nice little two-top tables outside along the sidewalk/patio in this pleasant part of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Lavender Cocinita is popular, with a steady stream of folks coming in - but I've never had a problem getting seated and I've never felt rushed (even when sitting a while, jabbering in the chile afterglow). (Free parking is plentiful in the area, but a little weird in the Los Ranchos pedestrian area: your best bet might be trying for street parking on Tyler Road, the E/W street just N of the restaurant.) The chef is friendly and will answer questions. The counter folks have always been friendly and kind: checking on us periodically. Really nice folks. It's an order-at-the-counter/pay/take-a-seat/they-bring-it-to-you place, but the service is good enough that you'll kick yourself if you don't tip heavier than usual for such an arrangement. Get your own water at the counter. Food is cooked to order (perfectly in all my visits thus far) and will take a few minutes to get to your table, but you'll be happy. Portions are always large (I leave full, and I'm a big eater) and the cost is on the low edge of today's pricing. The chiles are real-deal: they tend to be notably more piquant than at most places in town but they're real chile and vary in heat with the batch being served (I am used to and appreciate heat and one time the green was HOT!). As noted, the flavors are just wonderful. Bear in mind, NM red and green chiles are relatively simple sauces with few components: the artistry of the chef and the quality of the ingredients are absolutely vital to the flavor impact of the finished product served - and Lavender Cocinita absolutely nails this. Foodies have written the place up over and over, and they've won awards that would impress folks in the know in the short time (less than two years) they've been open. Without being melodramatic, this place gives a serious-about-the-flavors vibe that reminds me of those noted in places that have won James Beard American Classic awards. Lavender Cocinita is a reasonably inconvenient drive for me, but every time I've made it I've driven back with a grin and a vow to do it again soon.

I ordered their Combo Special and chose the ground beef burger and beer battered fries options, over the grilled chicken or chips choices. I added green chile and cheese to make it a de facto green chile cheeseburger. Drinks were sweet tea for me and water for today's partner, which were expeditiously delivered to our table as we waited on the food to arrive. Sweet tea was pretty ordinary and less sweet or tea flavored than most I've had. Kinda thin on taste. Burger & fries portion were plenty generous. The well stuffed bun came butter toasted from the flat top & required a good bit of jaw stretch to fit it all in. Burger patty appeared to be hand formed, was very nicely grilled, and had excellent flavor. Lettuce, tomato, & onion, plus a drizzle of their house sauce, were intelligently placed under the cheese topped patty in the sandwich. Thereby keeping the juicy patty from drooling & sogging out the bottom part of the bun. Which was only partially successful since the squeeze needed to eat the sandwich, coupled with the juicy fillings, made some sogging out inevitable. Green chile was rocking impactful flavor and a substantial spicy kick to match. It brought a lovely burn to the lips & tongue!! Beer battered fries came hot from the fryer, substantially crispy crunchy on the outside, tender inside, lightly salted, and really tasty. These fries could make Revel Burger a destination all on their own. Really noteworthy fries! Counter lady was welcoming and very efficient getting our orders taken. Premises were bright from wall of windows facing the road and clean. It shares space with a Pizza 9 so a faint aroma of pizza spices permeates the space, which can be confusing to the brain while you're eating a burger. Demerit for thin watery tea for me and partner being charged $1.69 for a bottle of water, then getting just a paper cup of iced tap water instead of an actual bottle of water.

We didn't wait long for our waitress to come over. She was very nice and attentive I asked her for a drink recommendations, and she mentioned some good ones. Considering the day before was New Year's Eve and I probably should've took a break from drinking, I said say screw it and got something light. It was a blood orange cider, and it was delicious, I was not expecting it to taste like that! Unable to make our minds up, we decided to split a salad and pizza. For the salad I wanted to get the Valley grande, but we compromised and got the brazos which was essentially a Caesar salad. That's how it was huge. We had enough to share and more, it was also tasty, the dressing. You could tell was definitely house made. For the pizza we decided to get a split half truchas and half chimayo (my half) and it was amazing the flavor was great and the topping fresh. Although next time I will ask for well done. On to dessert. The best thing we ordered all night was the Apple calzone. It seemed to be the size of a little football and came with two scoops of ice cream.
