Oh no! My love affair with the Wings Over brand was put to the test late one Monday night, as teh poultry pangs set in and I had to partake - stat. My usual order of the Hang Glider was nowhere on the menu. Guess as multi-franchised as Wings Over may be, it's still not 100% consistent location to location, thus rendering my 1/2lb boneless tenders, fries and a canned soda obsolete. "That's okay," said Emily C. "We'll split a DC-3." What a trooper. While the next day's report came back all thumbs for Em C, my Cajun Blackened boneless had a bad case of the bitters. Seems as though (from what my Encyclopedia Brown sense of investigation could offer), the already fried or perhaps just battered tenders were tossed in extremely dry, very finely powdered spice and then dumped in to the hot oil. The result? Burnt to a cinder tenders that were barely edible, albeit covered in ranch dressing. The smelled charred, tasted ashy and were only fit to soak up the night's antics. 1 star for being open at 11p on a Monday and a bonus for the gal working the counter - extremely friendly and warm to the nightbreed. Extremely unprofessional business. We were in line to order at 4:30 PM today and they just stopped taking orders. I understand it's a very busy day, but be courteous to your customers and at least place a sign on the door indicating that you are no longer taking orders at this time. What a waste of time for those people waiting in line and all of a sudden told to leave. Ever have those days when you need wings? I mean NEED WANT NOW?! Well, I recently started a low-carb diet, so my dining out options are limited, but I really wanted wings. And I sat here, half naked because it's 90+ degrees outside and I live on the third floor on the west side, and I go, "Gee, I don't want to cook, but I really want wings. Does Hooters deliver? Heck no, but if they did, men would probably never leave the house, so it's better that way. So not only did we not have to drive the whole 2 miles from Federal Hill to Hope St, I got to continue to sit on my rear in my spankies fanning myself while my boyfriend ran downstairs to get the goodies. The driver was courteous on the phone, and we got the order in half the time the email quoted. That's driving across downtown Providence on a Saturday night to congested Federal Hill. They made great time. We ordered a B-1 Bomber (25 wings) with a few flavors, including Jamaican Jerk which is fabulous, and a "small" Caesar salad that was actually the size of my head for about $4. "What about low-carb, doesn't Wings Over bread their wings?" They have an unbreaded option! Yes they do! This really made my night. I also out-winged my boyfriend. He capitulated, and we STILL have leftovers from 25 wings. I swear these are actually pterodactyl wings rather than chicken, but I'm okay with that. I'm not a huge wings girl. And I sometimes cringe at fried greasy foods, especially after eating a large portion. Girls have to watch their figures after all. But Wings Over Providence got me through a full month of working nights at Miriam Hospital. And for that, I am forever indebted to their middle-of-the-night delivery!! But beyond impeccable delivery service, these guys do wings FOR SERIOUS. The honey mustard sauce with their boneless wings are just so sinfully delicious. The chicken is also well cooked, without the feeling that it's over-fried or too-well-done--and I think it's because all orders are made fresh from raw. When I discovered this spot I was instantly hooked! I used to order 3 times a week. I order cajun blackened, well done, crusin altitude on the side. Then all of the sudden the sauce changed. I asked why and was told they were seperating from the franchise. I was instantly turned off, but still gave them a chance. Then I called one night and they were closed due to a supposed computer problem.. Now they went on Vaca. For the last week of May according to the answering machine. This is our go-to wings place in Providence. Their flavors are great, it's fresh, and it's pretty fast. The waffle fries and onion rings are also really good- make sure to order them extra crispy! Wings Over (which is a franchise) offers both boneless and bone-in wings. Favorite sauces include Oriental Sesame, Honey BBQ, and any of the traditional spicy buffalo ones (which are delicious with the blue cheese dip- it's surprisingly high-quality, with big chunks of blue cheese). The sauceless Cajun Blackened option is also a solid choice. Service is generally quite good. I usually order online, and it has never failed me. It works just fine, and there's a little status bar that pops up after you've placed your order to indicate the time remaining until delivery- very convenient! Over the phone, service is a bit more spotty. Make sure you specify the sauce(s) you want, any additional instructions (like frying fries extra crispy), and your method of payment because sometimes they forget to ask those things. To reduce the chances of being disappointed, I don't bother getting the boneless chicken anymore and go for the regular bone-in wings. Getting boneless wings increases the risk that your chicken will be super dry. Friends came over last night to celebrate the mister's birthday. We literally rolled a die to decide between Wings, Apsara, and Hope St Pizza because we are all indecisive nerds. Wings won. I steered my guests into getting bone-in wings and they were not disappointed. Everyone was completely satisfied: bellies full and happy. Regarding other menu items: the plain waffle fries are yummy. Don't get the cheese sauce; its some some sort of gross cheese water, not the delicious, thick cheez sauce that it once was. Burgers and the grilled chicken sandwiches are alright if you are outnumbered in a group not wanting wings but were dragged along anyways (been there, done that). You've either got the wrong establishment, or you're reaching to make a scene. To everyone else- portions well sized. Pick up is normally faster than quoted, so be prompt for best results (temperature). Delivery is a crapshoot, considering it's a college town and non-locals get hired. Sauce selection is solid, and dry rubs make for an alternate, and slightly cleaner, snacking choice. Oh Wings Over Providence, I miss you. I live outside their delivery area and don't go to Providence anymore. Pros: They have amazing wings. They usually have just the right amount of sauce (I hate when I can't dip my wings in bleu cheese because the wing is drenched in buffalo) and they're always nice and crispy. I usually get the boneless strips which are long and thick. They make dipping a bit more difficult but they make up for it in taste. Cons: Don't get the wraps. Just don't. I've had about a half dozens wraps from there and only the very first one was amazing. The rest fell apart, lacked flavor, or left me otherwise unsatisfied. I'll start off by saying that I drive a half hour just to go here when I have the craving for chicken wings. Wings Over Providence is an excellent place to get some great chicken wings, chicken fingers, and chicken sandwiches. I have not tried the ribs. When talking food quality and taste, Wings Over Providence is above and beyond the typical college food take-out joint, but it usually falls short on service in my opinion. Overall, I do find the people working there to be friendly, but I have not been there a single time where there wasn't some kind of mistake to my order. I always order online and they have very specific instructions and checkboxes for every option, yet I'm always finding myself short of a side of blue cheese or extra sauce that was requested. This normally wouldn't be a big deal but they do charge you extra money to get additional sides of sauce or dressing. Needless to say, I learned to check my bag before leaving rather than finding out after my half hour drive home when it is a lost cause! The bottom line is, if you want great chicken with a wide varitey of flavor options, then definitely check this place out! Although there was only one other customer in the entire place , I waited nearly 20 minutes for a buffalo chicken wrap. (There was one person at the front counter and at least two in the kitchen.) And after all that, the wrap was sloppily put together, not even cut in half, and fell apart the second I picked it up. There was supposed to be blue cheese on it but there wasn't. This is one of the places that must become more popular if it is to be there in six months or a year from now. If you have not been here, and you like buffalo wings the in the correct form without breading, come here. They have multiple levels of heat for the sauce. This means everybody is happy with their order. I would recommend the waffle fries garlic Parmesan style, or with cheese sauce. You will likely shove fistfuls of them into your mouth with no restraint and be filled with shame when you have finished, but hopefully you remember what they tasted like. There really is no comparable wings place in the state. There are some places with ok wings, but they will come prepared one way, with no option on how hot, crispy, or flavorful you would want them. Worst experience I ever had. I am a big fan of delivery service and a huge fan of chicken wings so when i moved to Providence, I was glad to find a chicken wings place near my apartment. I decided to try Wings over Providence last Friday, July 23rd. My boyfriend wanted to go out but I insisted on chicken wings delivery. She said the driver is actually on the road now and should be there in 7-8 minutes. Mind you, I live in Woodbine Street and the place is in Hope Street (it was a rainy night so I ordered in!!!) Twenty minutes later, I got a call from the delivery guy. He said he is in Woodbine Street in Pawtucket and is lost. I told him I'm in Providence, right off No. Main Street. He wanted another street to find his way... Rochambeau I said... The guy told me he'll be here and apologized for the delay - he said he had a flat tire. (what happened to the other guy who supposedly met up with him to take the delivery?) Exactly an hour and a half after I placed my order, I still don't have my food and I called and canceled my order. You think that's the worst part? Wrong!!! The gentleman I spoke with apologized and everything. He told me he will void the order but the delivery guy will still be bringing the food and that I don't have to pay, to just tell the delivery guy he had voided the transaction. 11 o'clock and there's still no delivery. Terrible customer service, BEST WINGS IN PROVIDENCE ARE AT PARKSIDE STEAK & WINGS at 285 park ave in Cranston, RI. Ordered and waited an 1hr 15 min wait when I was quoted 25 minutes. I asked manager to cut my bill in half for making me wait over twice as long as quoted and he said he'd speak to the owner. The owner wouldn't come to the front of the store, where 10 people were in the same position as me. I was told by "the manager" that I could just leave the food or pay full price. I paid for the food because I had hungary people waiting at home otherwise I would have left the food. The food is ok, they skimp on the sauce after they market the sauce as "we give you enough" and charge extra for extra sauce. There are plenty of places on Thayer St and surrounding areas that have good wings at a better price. These guys are one of my go-to spots for late-night delivery. That said, I'd really appreciate a portion less than half a pound - and a price to match. I keep going because of the garlic parmesan flavour. It's not a sauce, more of a breading, and it's delicious. (Thankfully, they also keep well, because you'll be getting three meals, especially if you order fries.) If you do get fries, do not get the regular ones, which are boring frozen things. As other reviews have said, the wings themselves are very good but the service here is very lackluster to say the least. After some initial confusion on the phone I decided to stop in and place my order. The ladies behind the counter seemed annoyed I was using the Lord of the wings coupon but they placed my order and told me to wait. The wait seemed to take forever just for a small order of wings...and the place wasn't even very busy. Ever since Wings-to-Go on Ives closed this place has solved all of my buffalo wing cravings. There are only seven tables but this is more of a take-out place anyway. Wings aren't cheap but they're comparable to any other wing joint. Expect to pay about $12 for wings, fries and a soda. I'm a big fan of all their buffalo sauces but their teriyaki mixes are great too. I usually go for the buffalo so I can't comment on any of the others.
