Upon walking in, I was immediately taken aback by how beautiful the space is inside. The murals on the walls are gorgeous, and the light fixtures are fun and unique, giving the whole restaurant an amazing atmosphere. We were seated quickly, and the chips and salsa arrived before we could even get settled. The salsa had great flavor and was a perfect start to the meal. I ordered the frozen margarita mixed with their house-made sangria, and it was incredibly refreshing. For dinner, I got the Vallarta Especial, and it was honestly one of the best I've ever had. Funny story. We went to Muchos Buenos by Home Depot. Place was packed. Must be good well we didn't want to wait 20-30 min. Came here and were so pleased with every aspect of the experience. Food was fantastic and prices were very fair. So glad they were full across the street so we could try this. Place is bigger which is why there were tables. I'm sure both places are great. So, we went to Tlaquepaque for lunch on a Saturday with six adults and three kids. We were all very happy with our meal. I don't have pictures of all the food. We enjoyed cheese burritos, taco salad, kid's pizza with fries (seriously! Two kids ordered pizza!) , kids cheese quesadilla with fries, chimichanga, seafood Molcajete ... super fabulous! The service was amazing. Beverages were attended to promptly. When one of the kids asked for a refill on their chocolate milk, the waitress made sure to check with Mom first. The restaurant and washrooms were clean. The restaurant is very nice. The staff was dismantling the Christmas decorations, which kept the kids entertained. read more

Ok I cannot pronounce the name but I do know good and this was it! Came here on Saturday night with a group of us. One of the people in our group said it was good so we were all game. 8 of us and they sat us right away. It was 1 of our friend's birthday so we're there to celebrate! Got some margaritas and drinks they brought the salsa and chips out. The salsa was kinda spicy. So be aware of you don't like spice. We all ordered something different. Tacos, burritos, fajitas, so lots of variety. I got the Burria tacos. Comes with rice and beans and the consommé. I thought it was great! I put the beans and the rice together. The beans weren't your normal refried blob. They were good, and with the rice even better. Everyone else seemed to enjoy. The burrito looked really good too. For our friend's birthday they sang and made her wear a hat plus they blew bubbles. It was fun. Prices aren't bad. And it's in a non descript strip mall so lots of parking. I'd go back. read more

Visited Tlaquepaque with family recently. We had a group of seven and we were seated immediately. Tortilla chips and salsa were delivered immediately and our drink requests were taken. I requested a Dos Equis grande, which was fairly tasteless. Next time, I'll go with the Modelo Negra, which is my usual go to beer. For dinner, I requested Polo Santa Fe. A little while later, dinner was served. The quac, sour cream, rice, lettuce, and salsa verde plate was larger than at most restaurants, which was nice. Plenty of toppings for the tacos. My Santa Fe chicken was delicious, especially when wrapped in a tortilla with the toppings. My father-in-law requested a strip steak and baked potato. I've never seen this requested at a Mexican restaurant, but it was very tasty and it pleased my selective father-in-law. The large margaritas are bigger than at most restaurants. The medium is comparable to what most restaurants serve. Our server was fast and friendly. Overall, we had a great experience. read more

Complimentary chips and salsa were a bit better than most other places offer. Decor is the trendy "Day of the Dead" style you see everywhere now and still looks nice! Pretty close to 5 stars. All we had was fajitas. Everything was pretty good except the chicken was chopped up too small which made it kind of overcooked. Not bad just could have been a tad better. Food was outstanding. Margarita was horrible. Service was mediocre. Ambiance is cool. Came in on a Sunday early evening, after another Brown's loss. The hostess has a hard time with eye contact and tried to seat the 5 of us at a teeny tiny booth. I was able to persuade her to find us a larger space, which were the booths on the far end of the store. Sun was setting and my view was into the parking lot, so blinded I was, but the space was worth it. Chips and salsa came straight away. Both were good. Salsa was fresh, more of a purée, but not spectacular. The physical menus on the tables are disgusting. They are papers stapled together, ripped to hell, with remnants of salsa and other food stuffs scattered throughout. A QR code on the table is more sanitary, but com'on man, get a real menu. We were also only dealt 3 menus for our party, but in the hostess' defense, she didn't make eye contact with us, so maybe she didn't know. Their margarita menu is broken down into 'Premium' and 'Standard.' I always go for the top shelf, but the only non flavored Premium was the Skinny Margarita. I've had that at other stores and it's usually pretty good....but not here. That thing was HORRIBLE. To make sure it wasn't just me, I had my margarita connoisseur son try it. His face after a taste was priceless. I asked the waiter what was in it and he had no idea, as he knows nothing about margaritas (makes sense, I think he was 16 years old). Needless to say, I asked it to be replaced with a traditional, lime Premium marg, which they came close to making. The replacement was acceptable, but like the chips and salsa, not great. For dinner I had the Tiaquepaque Special, which was EXCELLENT. Shrimp, chicken, chili relleno with chorizo and carne asada. The chili was super cheesy and the steak was crazy good. No complaint about the chicken, shrimp or chili either. The sides of guacamole, rice and beans were nondescript, like the salsa. Our server was very friendly, but not very attentive. I was trying to get his attention to replace the horrible skinny margarita, but he was too absorbed into an iPad at the hostess stand, along with several other servers that made their corner of the store look like a playpen. Soooooo, what to do, what to do. Drinks are better at Cozumel, best at Nuevo Acapulco. But the steak in the Tiaquepaque Special was the best carne asada I've ever had. Need to give this place another try, but next time I'll fly solo and sit at the bar, watching (coaching) the creation of the fine nectar. Hopefully a better bartender is on-site during the week! read more

Food was only second to my favorite place in Nogales, Mexico. It's the best and I want to come back once a week. Highly recommend the Molcajete for two, or one very hungry person. The sauce/gravy that accumulates at the bottom is to die for. Drinks were well balanced and fun, still has that Midwest pour (heavy handed), so you'll be having fun after one or two, but still delicious. Only one negative, some of the service. The kid at the front was on his phone, and made us wait a second to finish his text before greeting us. I'd be fine with a quick "hello, one second" ‍. Other than that, if we needed something, other servers were happy to help, and our main server was very polite and everything came out fast. read more

I rarely venture to Brunswick, but had lunch here yesterday with a close friend. We were highly impressed with the food, service, portions and prices. My spicy beef burrito with chorizo and cheese sauce was excellent. Had some heat, but not overpowering. Like that it comes with whole beans, not refried. Huge, too, had half left over. My friend liked her beef enchiladas. We also got carry out for snacks/more meals. My chicken quesadilla was very meaty. Good deal on happy hour drinks as well. This place has definitely been hyped up online so we were excited to try it. I got my standard, chori pollo, to compare amongst the other Mexican restaurants in the area. It wasn't anything spectacular but it arrived quickly! My partner specifically liked his strawberry margarita and loved the added detail of the fresh muddled strawberries. Fairly busy on a Wednesday evening. Everything moved quite smoothly. The only thing that threw me off was the tv being on a religious channel so I would look up and see bible verses being displayed. Ok, first off I will admit that I am in the minority here. However, here were our impressions. The food is tasteless. Simply tasteless. Every aspect was tasteless, in my opinion. The complementary chips and salsa were tasteless. Honestly, the chips were not impressive, at all. The salsa - bland. Even the unsweetened ice tea was tasteless (I know, it was unsweetened what do you expect?). Well, I have had it out plenty times and the actual brewed tea taste comes through. Nothing came through here. The entree - Chile Colorado was incredibly unimpressive. Both the rice and beans (I chose refried) were tasteless. While the mexican rice did have a slight yellow/red color to it, there were no veggies (onions, carrots, peas, cilantro) to show that it had been cooked with anything other than a can of tomato sauce. On their menu, they tout a "Jasper Grill" from Spain they purchased and the Chile Colorado description indicates "grilled steak". I will go on record as saying the strips of beef were sauteed and a canned red enchilada sauce was added upon cooking. Why do you say this? Because there was no grilling evidence - no char on the beef, no grilled taste. In fact no taste. I'd contend the beef was never seasoned and neither was the sauce it resided in. And there was no way that sauce was made with dried, rehydrated peppers and spices. It was way too watery. My wife got the Birria tacos and a margarita. Onion and cilantro in the tacos provided some taste however, she had the same tasteless rice and said that her churro beans were also tasteless. Based upon the 3 or 4 pieces of beef I saw her pulling out from her mouth (chewy, stringy and fatty), I'd gather the tacos were not much to write home about. Service was adequate - take order, bring food, drop off check. We tried to tell him we were disappointed in the food. He just smiled and got the check to us. No apology. Must be the language barrier, as he was mexican. So for us, a big PASS. Never to return. My thoughts - people who are unaccustomed to good mexican food probably find this very good - it's not spicy and there are no flavors to turn anyone off. read more

The new space is very pretty and I had high hopes. But unfortunately my visit went downhill quickly. It was a Tuesday evening with a party of 4. Not all of the tables were full, but it was a steady stream of people in and out. The service was terrible! Took 20 minutes for 1 of my friends to get her margarita, even though the rest of us got ours within 5. The food took an hour and 15 minutes to come out! Our server was MIA after she brought drinks. We had no idea why the meal was taking so long or if it was even coming. When it finally came out it was barely warm and another friend said hers was flat out cold. After all that waiting the server never asked if we wanted refills and brought our checks 2 bites into the meal like she was done with us. Serves kept taking the wrong food and beverages to tables. They've been open for a couple months at this point I was expecting better service. I don't know how long the table behind us had been sitting there waiting, but they got up and left and never even got drinks. Maybe I'll try it again after it's been running longer, but maybe I won't. Nothing about the meal was good enough to care either way. read more

Food was okay. Nothing great, sort of meh. I had a chicken tacos and chile relleno. The chicken seemd to have no spices on it at all. It was so bland I had to add some hot sauce and eventually dumped it out onto the chile relleno, so I could get some flavor from its sauce. My wife's taco salad was similarly bland. The waiter was courteous, but only just. Granted, we walked in on a Wed night 45 minutes before closing time and were one of only two parties left, but the waiter asked us if we were ready to order having handed us the menus literally 30 seconds before. Came here with my wife for dinner, and they have a very interesting interior. We sat at the bar because there was a bit of a wait for a table, and despite how busy the restaurant was they handled it well. Hats off to the only bartender that was working. They made drinks for a full bar as well as all the orders coming from tables. My wife and I both got margaritas which had immensely fresh flavors due to the bartender muddling the fruit right in front of us. I would say they could've been strained a little more as both were fairly pulpy but that's just my preference, they were great nonetheless. The chips and salsa were great as well and the food portions were hefty. My burrito was phenomenal but my wife's enchiladas left a bit to be desired. read more
