Union House is an outstanding place to have a family luncheon. Last week we buried our 103 year old Uncle and met at Union House immediately after the service. The Food was tremendous. Several of us had the Fish Special which is served on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Absolutely fantastic. Large servings and the taste was extraordinary. All the other luncheons which were ordered were similarly completely enjoyed. The employees who waited on our table were extremely professional and friendly. The lunches were served very quickly after our order was taken. This is a GREAT restaurant. I would give it 10 stars but I am only permitted to do five. read more

The Friday Fish Fry is one of the best in the area...tonight's service not so much. The parking lot is always packed, the bar area has a buzzing and the tables are always at a premium. The fish is dipped and dredged per order, so it's hot and flakey and quite frankly amazing! Tonight my mom decided on the Public House for proximity. We sat ourselves and the wait began. We ordered the fish fry with clam chowder. Fries, coleslaw and a hefty piece fish per order. You can get pierogis for $1 each. If it weren't for the great food we might have left. Our waitress was obviously seasoned but her attention to detail or complete lack was awful. She rushed our order, was annoyed when we asked for refills and then never brought them, outside of bringing our food and bill we never saw her. Stopped in after work and walked into a room with lots of empty tables. A large circular bar that was fairly occupied with clientele and one bartender. We sat at a table near the bar and after some time, decided there was no wait staff. Went to the bar, ordered a beer and asked for menus. Some places will surprise you with a cool atmosphere or food that you weren't expecting; then there is Union House which was exactly what it seems to be a dive bar/restaurant with decent food. Union House is suppose to have a great Friday fish fry so I gave them a try. Walking into Union House you find a dimly lit room with no real decor to speak of. The front half of the large room is the dining area with ordinary tables and chairs, the back half is a large bar area, there is even an old school bowling machine. I ordered the Clam Chowder and the Fish Fry. The bowl of Chowder was decent sized with enough clams and potatoes, but there was nothing terribly distinctive about it. The fish was a nice sized Cod fillet, battered and fried. The batter was good, but the fish underneath was just ok. The fries and slaw were both acceptable, but there was nothing that I could have picked as special or different. I love a good dive as much or more than most people, but for a dive to make it as one of my favorites, there has to be some sort of vision or inspiration that raises it above just average, unfortunately for me Union House did not have any such spark. read more

I'M OVER THIS PLACE!!!!! been coming here for years and we loved the fish. Just in the last year or so it's gone downhill in everyday. Party of Three: Went on a Tuesday night around 7 pm. Waitress was attentive and running around doing everything. Food was good - big portion and tasty. Same Party of Three: Went back on a Thursday and it was terrible. We sat down and after 20 minutes, my husband was trying to catch the bar tender's attention by waving. After another 5 minutes a man from the table across from our booth came over and asked if we wanted to order. He was with six other men. He went to the bar and spoke with the bar tender. After another 5 minutes, she came over and said "did you want to drink something".... She took our drink order and we waited another 10 minutes for two beers and one ice tea. She tried to walk away and we called her back to take our food order. Another woman came in then and said she was taking over and she served us our food and another round of drinks. She was attentive. Not the same woman that was there on Tuesday night. She saved the day for us - but we will NEVER go there again on any night but Tuesday. Food was ok. Not anything spectacular. The waitress asked us if we wanted bread. I told her this was our first visit. She looked at us and said we must try the bread. That it was delicious. A hidden gem in Parma takes first place on a no frills, classic back home fish fry. This place is the number one spot during the Lenten season for the best fish fry in my opinion. The owner is an absolute sweetheart (just don't give her any crap!) This is a local bar (regulars have assigned seating...lol) Excellent homemade food, affordable beverages, plenty of parking and friendly customers. The bar could use some updating, bathrooms remodeled, new bar stools, better sound system and lighting, but it is loved just the way it is by all the loyal regulars who are comfortable at Union House in the same way an old pair of shoes fit. I drive by this place on the way to my parents. On Easter morning the parking lot was packed at 10am. I always wondered if there was bikini girls or a Gary Coleman look-a-like bartending.. After finally going in I still dont understand why its always packed. Professional drinkers come here I guess..lol. The bartender was nice, place was clean and drinks were cheap. Not a crazy beer selection but that keeps all the uppity people from coming in, which is refreshing. They have Keno and a claw machine for your entertainment. I like going to a bar where I can find a parking spot, get a drink without waiting at the bar for fifteen minutes, and get good food. If you like mussels, I recommend trying them here. First time visiting. Menu does not specify which sodas are refillable vs canned. Menu doesn't say which sodas are canned, for that matter. Sodas are priced at $1.25 each shown on the menu, we got two. Price was $3. When I asked my server, I was told the extra quarter was because the servers bring it to your table. Again, that was not shown on the menu. All of this should have been explained when the server took our drink order. We both ordered pierogies, which were only editable with sour cream and the onions tasted as if they came out of an onion pack which were hard little like rice and crunchy....not fresh. I managed to eat 4 and waited 28 minutes for the server to check on us, with our plates pushed away from us. Only when a couple that came in that wanted a booth, did our server look at us and say, "You're leaving soon, right?" Needless to say, that was our first and LAST TIME we will visit. And the coin operated bowling game was lots of fun to play while we waited for our food. I miss the Gray Wolf, but supposedly this place has their old recipe(s). I went here to see the Tabloid Twangers play on a Saturday night. The acoustics were good and the table layout handled a sizable crowd. Patrons and staff were really nice. Not much of a dance area - room for 2 or 3 couples, but decent room between tables for getting the bar and restroom (which was clean). I didn't eat but my wife really liked the food.
