i went to this salon to get my hair dyed. i wanted a dark blue hair. winnie started bleaching my hair for about 30 minutes and i thought it would be enough for a dark blue hair but she insisted that it isnt enough so she bleached it for even longer. it got to the point where she bleached it for almost an hour and a half and it started to burn and too white. she said no it wont turn out good she started scrubbing really hard on my scalp. it hurt so so much. then she started dyeing my hair blue and the blue hair that i wanted wasnt the color that i got. she made me choose the hair color dye and when i saw the hair example it was exactly how i wanted it however it turned really vibrant and too blue / purple. i payed 125 dollars for my hair. i am very disappointed with how much i payed and how my hair turned out. i would like to get a refund because the salon did not reach my expectations. my hair is now frizzy and takes too long to dry because of the bleach that now has damaged my hair. i also need help because i dont want frizzy unhealthy hair i just hoped she tested a strand of my hair before she dyed my whole head please help :( read more

Affordable but nothing fancy! Came to cut my hair from long to medium length. Went in on a weekday with no appointment right when they opened. I was hoping to see Winnie specifically since my mother-in-law says she's pretty good. She took her time and constantly gave me a mirror to check that I liked the length/cut which I honestly appreciated a lot because most places don't even let you give feedback until the very end. (Then you go home hating it and you're stuck with ugly hair for months) The only reason she isn't getting 5-stars isbecause she did not even attempt to style my hair... she just cut it and sent me on my way. I booked a wash and blow-dry after hurting my back, thought it would be a nice treat- but it unfortunately was a total waste of time and money. For starters, when it was my turn to get serviced, I was brought to the shampoo bowl, without being Draped. I figured she might put a drape on me once she brought me back to the chair, but nope. After she washed my hair, she clipped up HALF of my dripping hair, and sat me under the dryer. Still no drape, but she DID give me a tissue that I used to wipe the water dripping down my forehead and shirt. She disappeared for about ten minutes, then when she came back out, we moved to the chair. She took my hair out of the clip, and at this point half of the hair on my head was dry and frizzy, and the bottom half was still sopping wet and VERY tangled. She then proceeded to blow-dry my hair, without combing it out--or adding any kind of heat protectant--or detangling cream-- and still no drape. As she was blowdrying my hair with her fingers, I could literally feel and hear my hair being torn and pulled. After the hair was about 60% dry, she then pulled out a round brush and proceeded to rip my hair as she was yanking it through my tangled and frizzy hair (my hair is thick, and curly) my hair was about 80% dry when she was "finished", the roots were still curly because of the moisture she left, while my end were so frazzled and frizzy because of her lack of product usage, knowledge of how to properly dry/ style hair, and just over all patience and passion for what she's doing. I wish I could give this place more stars because it was busy when I got there, and they seemed nice, but the experience was so bizarre, and the overall visit defeated the purpose of me going there in the first place. If you are charging people money for a service, you should at least to the bare minimum. read more

All the ladies know what to do, work quietly - they don't talk much - to each other or the clients (which I like instead of a loud establishment) and they knock out haircut after haircut, women w/long hair, older gentleman, kids, and regular joes. They are fast and thorough- best yet, they remember their clients preferences. They are also blunt and will tell you if they don't agree with your selection. I have been going to Winnie's for over two years now for haircuts/trims. When I go there I always have my haircut and eyebrow wax done by only Winnie herself. Winnie pays extra attention to you if you open up to have a conversation with her. She works best when you show her a picture of what you want, even if you need to pull out a Hair Book at their salon. (note: the chance of a hairstylist giving you better results because of showing a visual is always HIGH! That's an advice for anyone that goes to ANY SALON) She is wonderful at seeing a picture and being able to capture what you want. She even blow dried my hair free with no charge! I had good hair cuts here. So, I decided to try their body waves. I told the hairdresser that I just want a slight wave to my hair. And I told her I usually have the white and grey rollers alternating. But, I just want a slight wave so, can you just use the larger rollers? She said she will use the white rollers... She suggested that we leave the chemicals on for 30 minutes. Well, when it was time, she made me wait another 10-15 minutes longer... I didn't want to leave the chemicals on my hair any longer! So, I started to get up ! She was not happy, but she finally came over to rinse out the chemicals... Well, guess what? My hair was SO tight, it was disgusting!!!!! She tried to comb it out, but she was unsuccessful!!!! Needless to say, I did not leave her a tip!!!! First time no tip at all!!!! It had been well over a year and a half since my last proper hair cut and I was looking like Cousin It. I decided to get it cut at Winnie's Cuts when I had the opportunity. My sister had gone for the first time a few months back and was very happy with them. I'm always a little uneasy about getting my haircut in the Antioch area. The other salons I've gone to have been highly rated but so far, I hadn't found anyone that really knew how to style Asian hair. But stepping in to Winnie Cuts reminds me of the Chinese hair salons that you'll find at Asian malls in the East or South Bay. I felt right at home! (Well, without the Cantopop videos or stations playing Chinese movies in the background. Winnie Cuts plays KKIQ instead. A consequence of location, I guess. I miss Cantopop :( ) Winnie cut my hair. I came in with a, "Uh, I really don't know what I want but I trust you'll make it look awesome." An hour and a half later,I came away with an awesome cut and highlights. A cut is included with any color as is a free eyebrow wax! I also added on a lip wax. All this for a grand total of $59. Not. Bad. At. All. While I was there, there was a steady parade of customers. Lots of guys are regulars -- at $11 per men's cut, it is WELL worth it. In summary: Rock bottom prices but top notch service. I have no problem recommending this place to others. Cut exactly how I asked and lined me up in the back perfectly. repeatedly asked confirmation on every little thing.
