SCAM! be careful before you get any haircuts done by them. you will be charged more $$$ than you think. there is a price board but they DONT go by the board. they WILL charge you whatever amount they want. they will ADD services and not inform you of extra charge. trust me! i've experienced it by different hairdressers. you think you will pay $20 for haircut but it goes up to $60 in the end or $20 for straightening and end up paying $30. and WORST part is they don't even disclose that at all -not in the beginning and not even during the process that they are increasing their rate. Just SURPRISESEEE you in the end! not so professional behaviour. showed pics for exact haircuts I wanted for me and my friend but they kept hesitating and unsure on how to start. experts don't hesitate ! read more

I came here around 12:30pm on Wed 6/9. The place was empty, so Sylvia came right up to me to see what I needed. She was very nice, and we chatted the entire time while she was cutting my hair. She was nice enough to blow out my hair with a round brush once she finished cutting it, to make sure it did curl under. read more

Came into this salon for the first time, very lively environment. Everyone was cheerful and welcoming despite the gloomy ongoing Covid. Had my hair cut at Designer Cuts yesterday and am very pleased. The last time I had my hair cut, I made the mistake of going to Great Clips in Antioch. They completely messed up my hair. Even after they "fixed" it, it wasn't quite right, even though it was an improvement from the original hack job they did the first time. So, I was very relieved when the nice lady at Designer Cuts was able to fix it and cut it correctly, with very little effort. I was beginning to think my hair would never be quite right again, after the stylists at Great Clips made my simple A-line cut seem like some sort of extremely difficult task. Thank goodness the people at Designer Cuts actually know what they're doing. To be honest, places like Vamp Salon and The Secret Garden are a bit out of my budget range, considering that with my specific cut, I have to have my hair trimmed frequently. So 45-50 bucks every time is a bit steep. It's nice to know that there's a local place that cuts hair exceptionally well, but doesn't come with a hefty price tag. read more

I've always gone to high-end salons for haircuts. Pay about $40-60 performed by young and fresh ladies, where they serve mimosas and very modern/classy decors. Only to go back once or TWICE to get my haircut redone because I just didn't like it. Then I came upon Designer Cuts & met Anna. Not only is she (and all the other ladies) super nice, but she knows what she is doing. With many years of experience and knowledge! I haven't had to go back to her to get something fixed or redone. You tell her what she wants and she gives you exactly that! I even got all my friends and families to go to her :). Its been a little over 5 years now and I wouldn't go any place else! read more

The Lovely ladies here are very experience. I have been going to them for about 20 years. I usually rotated through the different ladies and they all do a great job. This place prefers cash but they do have a credit card machine. There's plenty of parking also. I recommend this place because they have really reasonable prices for haircuts. Went here on a Sunday morning and found two workers, each had clients. Two others waiting and figured, shouldn't be that long. Well, after I walked in, three others walking in behind me and one worker started to collect names so that everyone there would be in order. She asked the names of the two gentlemen that were there when I walked in and then proceeded to take then names of the three other, skipping over me. Well, I wouldn't be too ticked off but the other three behind me even told the woman that I was in front of them and SHE TOTALLY IGNORED ME and went back to cutting the persons hair that was in her chair. Going to log that as my worst hair cut ever. Felt like a was getting my hair cut with a machet. She did not care about the cut had little knowledge of how to even cut hair. I took my two toddler aged boys here for a cut and they both were having a bad day. Both ladies took them in the chair and got right to work getting the job done and handled my boys beautifully. My family and I have been going to Designers Cuts for nearly 20 years. Anna of course is absolutely fabulous. Jenny is the bomb!!! My son now 25 years old, was in the 8th grade at Delta Vista, I do believe it was last day of school (Crazy Hair Day) Jenny shaved my Sons hair into an arrow - there is a cartoon "The last Airbender" Jenny nailed it she was flawless. Of course I (mom) spray painted it blue. He was a hit at school of course. In 2014 I needed a couple of ladies to do some "do ups" Joann, Tammy you rock. You ladies were reasonable, flawless in your work and left us very satisfied for our event. I even purchased baby white roses which they added to the hair. Excellent job! I can give you a million more examples. And still in 2019 you all ROCK!!! Thank you all for being very pleasant, workable around our busy schedules and very good at what you do. This was my second time at this place, the first time I went the lady who cut my hair was nice and did a fair job cutting my hair, I'm not the picky type but for $16 you gotta expect a fair hair cut. The second time was today, this time is was a different lady (not going to mention names but if they read this they will figure out who it was), I was asked what I wanted and I kept it simple, she was done quick meaning didn't really check her job and I had to ask to fix the back and one of the sides, she kinda fixed the back but when I asked to fix the side because I could see hair sticking out, she had the nerve to ask me "aren't you going to use gel??" I said no worries, paid and went home. Lady, please do your job right!! if I use gel or not has nothing to do with you doing your sh*t correctly!! Glad I walked away, next time I'll just just pay more somewhere else, as long as they do a good job. read more

I took both my boys there today. The wait wasn't bad. The ladies are very nice. My oldest sons hair turned out nice. I can't complain. My youngest sons did not come out so nice. He got his haircut by someone else.. My mistake... I should have waited for the same lady... Anyway... I didn't ask for anything difficult. Just fade and clean up around the edges. His hair is so messed up!!! The his hair is not faded at all. You can see where his hair is supposed to fade. When she was done I had to ask her to blend it better because you can see a line in his hair. I regret even paying for the haircut. read more

There aren't too many walk in hair salons that are worth visiting, but Designer Cuts in Oakley is! Never a long wait, always greeted as soon as you walk in. We've been taking our entire family here for years and we look for Susie. Susie has done everything from a basic trim to a complete style change. She can look at the shape of your face and head and cut hair accordingly. My husband's hair grows crazy and he always walks out saying what a great cut it was! My daughter has had everything from blue color added to the tips of her hair to having over a foot cut off! She's worth a try and she won't break the bank. I am finished with this place. I went in today and was told there were three people ahead of me. I sat down and the three people were called up. Okay, so now it's my turn. Wrong, the owner of the business skipped right over me and called up a gentlemen that came in about 10 minutes after me. He didn't say a word and when I stood up the owner said, Oh were you next? I told her yes I was, but don't worry, I will take my business elsewhere. She was rude, no apology and let me walk out without even batting an eye. I will tell everyone I know to say away from this shop. If I do go in again, I will make sure Kristy or Susie is working and they will get my money. Not the rude owner! read more

I went to have the underneath layer of my hair dyed red. I set my appointment the week prior. When i arrived for my appointment she did not have the hair dye to my hair. After several phone calls she left to go purchase it. Jenny ( to my understanding the shop owner and my appointment hairdresser) unnecessarily bleached my hair twice (I have since talked with 4 other hairdressers who told me it should not have been bleached more than once) which made 6 inches break off the length of my hair AND left me with a bald spot the size of a silver dollar. Which, three months later, has still shown no signs of growing back. I went back after a month had gone by (i explained to Jenny that I needed to cool down so as to not make a scene in her shop. You can understand how upset I had been) to show her the results of her work and she blew me off and wouldn't even look at the damage she had done, never mind offer me a refund. She told me it was "NORMAL" I was charged $130 which she refused to refund, and refused to do anything to rectify the situation. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I recently had one surgery after another (neck & shoulder), it was hard enough to wash my own hair let alone style it, which has been out of the question! When I arrived at Designer Cuts in Oakley I did not intend on having my hair washed, just trimmed & styled. After explaining my situation to Wendy she insisted that she wash my hair... I didn't realize hairdressers were experts in scalp massage! After melting into the chair by the sink, Wendy helped me up, trimmed my hair and styled it beautifully. I left there feeling as if I was leaving a spa. I will be going back & telling everyone I know about Designer Cuts in Oakley! read more
