Once upon a time, I moved to the other side of Andersonville where I was really far away from my regular dry cleaner at the time.

Since I ordered them online, I had no idea just how oversized they were until I tried them on in-person. Honestly, they reminded me of maternity pants, which isn't really my style! I went on Yelp looking for an experienced tailor, and used their quote request process to contact someone, Nura contacted me right away with an estimate of how much it was going to cost. She tailored the shorts exactly to my specifications, took in a couple of inches, and now they fit perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Of all the tailors I've ever been to in my lifetime, Nura is definitely the BEST. Her attention to detail is what truly sets her apart!

She explained that she went to advanced schooling but beyond being technically very good she is simply an artist. It's hard to describe but there is something magical how she effortlessly pins and pleats the clothes in a way that not only flatters you but is an improvement on the original design. The dry cleaning is also very good. I had a stain on a very delicate white dress and they were able to completely remove it. Parking on Lincoln is free and very easy.

When I went back, he accuses me of lying and tries to sell me a new zipper. Didn't even offer a discount. Sleaze. I should have known that a tailor who is also a selling shoes and electronics out for the front of their shop might not be truth worthy.

Yet, it is how a business chooses to respond that makes the difference. Case-in-point: one of the shirts I dropped off was a victim of a battle I'd had with a bowl of ramen. The result was tiny oily stains on the front. Generally, dry cleaners have no issue with stains of this kind. Further, when I asked the gentleman behind the counter what chemical they use, he stated it was "Perk" (writing it out). I will assume he meant "Perc"c as in "Perchloroethylene", a chemical which dissolves oil. All this to say, when I picked up the shirt, the stains were still there. I called this out, and asked "Isn't perc. supposed to dissolve oil?" The response given was that the machine was very full. (By the way, isn't Perc banned in Illinois?) I am confident I pointed these out, but even if not "We're sorry, you did not call out attention to these so we were unaware" may have been be reasonable. What was said was not only a poor excuse, but also an indication of a half-hearted job. Stuffing a machine so full it cannot clean means nothing inside gets effectively cleaned. Now, I want to give them some credit where it is due. When the shirt in question was redone, the stains were gone. The other items I had cleaned were also done properly, and I've no complaints. Other than the half-hearted excuse, it seemed the clerk was knowledgeable, as he suggested which items should be laundered, and which should be dry cleaned based on their material, however, I am not sure how much confidence I have with this, as I'd been having these items laundered easily dozens of times without issue. Thus, based on my experience, Newstyle did a solid job making my clothes clean and pressed - however, this required two visits, seeing past an excuse, and comes with the caveat that the machine in use may be stuffed over capacity and thus unable to clean effectively.

At $15 for pants and $5 for a dress shirt, weekly drop-offs become extremely expensive very quickly. While I appreciate the mission and the quality, the cost feels out of reach for everyday use. I brought a number of projects including a pair of pants & jeans that I didn't want the legs to be so wide. The tailor suggested doing it so that you wouldn't see it. Both turned out very well and were nicely pressed as a bonus. On one top he added fabric he had so you couldn't see through the openings around the buttons, but the button placket was sticked down and I could no longer un-button it. He said he'd see what he could do but didn't think its would be possible. On another top that I wanted let out, he added fabric to the underarm which didn't have enough of a hem to let out. When I picked up an item that I had a small hole "re-weaved", I looked and still found a hole. I asked him to re-do it and he said he would do it quickly while I waited. He said it must be a 2nd hole. He came back with it in plastic. When I got home i saw that while repaired it was pulled too tightly and causing puckering. I brought it back to be fixed. When I picked it up all the work had been removed and the hole was back. I was told that the manager had emailed me and refunded me, saying that they couldn't do anything more for me. I checked for any communication and didn't find anything. Also, there was no refund of any kind from Greener Cleaner. Not happy here.

It was one of the first things I planned to replace. But after one cleaning, CCG completely brought it back to life and it looks brand new. I have two big dogs, so I have them come about every nine months and they consistently do the wall-to-wall carpet in my basement and the stairs up to the first floor as well as my couch. And the couch is done cushion by cushion and pillow by pillow. Both the carpet and the couch always look brand new after they leave. Sporadically, I have also hired them to clean other pieces of furniture that I don't use that often - to an amazing end. And recently, they started doing my custom runner up the stairs from my first to second floor. I was a little nervous about it at first as it has custom canvas trim - but again - looks fabulous. Can't recommend them enough. I have been lucky enough to have Zach and Valodia do my service that past few times and they are always on time, pleasant, professional, and really good at what they do.
