Yet, it is how a business chooses to respond that makes the difference. Case-in-point: one of the shirts I dropped off was a victim of a battle I'd had with a bowl of ramen. The result was tiny oily stains on the front. Generally, dry cleaners have no issue with stains of this kind. Further, when I asked the gentleman behind the counter what chemical they use, he stated it was "Perk" (writing it out). I will assume he meant "Perc"c as in "Perchloroethylene", a chemical which dissolves oil. All this to say, when I picked up the shirt, the stains were still there. I called this out, and asked "Isn't perc. supposed to dissolve oil?" The response given was that the machine was very full. (By the way, isn't Perc banned in Illinois?) I am confident I pointed these out, but even if not "We're sorry, you did not call out attention to these so we were unaware" may have been be reasonable. What was said was not only a poor excuse, but also an indication of a half-hearted job. Stuffing a machine so full it cannot clean means nothing inside gets effectively cleaned. Now, I want to give them some credit where it is due. When the shirt in question was redone, the stains were gone. The other items I had cleaned were also done properly, and I've no complaints. Other than the half-hearted excuse, it seemed the clerk was knowledgeable, as he suggested which items should be laundered, and which should be dry cleaned based on their material, however, I am not sure how much confidence I have with this, as I'd been having these items laundered easily dozens of times without issue. Thus, based on my experience, Newstyle did a solid job making my clothes clean and pressed - however, this required two visits, seeing past an excuse, and comes with the caveat that the machine in use may be stuffed over capacity and thus unable to clean effectively.

It's literally 100 meters from CTA Bryn Mawr. As for the place itself it sells clothing also along with cleaning, and alterations. You can purchase leather jackets, jeans, trousers, suits, uniforms, and other items at Newstyle. The price is great at Newstyle, and I'm very well sure that i will return in the future for cleaning my clothing items.

If it were a one-off, I would be more understanding, but it seems as though more times than not when I'm here, something goes wrong. Also, as an aside, perhaps it's not the best idea to tell a customer who is upset that things are constantly going wrong that he's unlucky. Let me give you a core example of what I mean. In summertime, I brought in a down jacket to be cleaned and repaired after I fell off an e-scooter. Oops. The quoted time for the jacket to be cleaned and repaired was a week. I gave them two, and the jacket wasn't done. Once again, I was quoted a time of a week. I came back in two, and the jacket still wasn't done. The response given was that, and I quote, "You don't need it." Well, you know something? Maybe I don't, but you don't know that for a fact. Maybe I'm going to Greenland or something. Don't promise something if you can't deliver it, and especially don't do so twice. There was another incident where I was almost given a shirt that wasn't mine. Thankfully, I am the kind of weirdo who more or less knows the labels on the insides of his shirts. I recognized it wasn't mine. This did recur a couple months later when the shirt I was given was definitely not mine - I could tell by its pattern and design, which again surprised her. Yes, mistakes happen, but it's weird that this happened twice. I can only imagine if I had taken someone else's shirt home by mistake, and then that person would have come back saying, "Where the heck is my shirt? Why did you give it to somebody else?" There was also an incident involving another item I gave them to be cleaned, where the company to which they outsource out did a poor job, and there was still a stain. So, the item was sent back. When I arrived, I found the shirt wasn't done, and I wasn't notified beforehand. Okay, fine. So, I came back later at the agreed-upon time, and the shirt still wasn't ready because the company to which they outsource their cleaning still hadn't done a good job. I received no notification of any kind. At this point, I said, "Enough is enough." I took my items back, I took my money back, and I took my items somewhere else. Let me close on saying this: The employee here is very kind and very sweet, and the prices here are almost unbeatable. I urge you to give them a chance assuming: 1. You are in no hurry. 2. You carefully check to make sure that the clothes you get are your own. 3. Don't give them any expensive or valuable items in case they're accidentally given to someone else.
