Do not go to this business. They are crooks. I took some items into be cleaned. They originally quoted me $80 and it would be a week. They left me a message that there would be an upcharge of $30 because it was harder to clean. When I went back after a week then said that did not send it out yet. The guy tried to charge me double to clean it. I told him I got a message it was only $30 more. I went ahead and reluctantly agreed to that. He said again it would be another week. When I went back a week later. He said again that he did not send it out and wanted me to prepay for it. I refused and just took my clothes back. This place is shady extortionist. The recently re-named Pine Cleaners (now Stellar Cleaners, if you're looking for a sign) is still operated by the same fantastic couple. A couple of years ago, I took in a coat that was... in sorry shape. It was mended, re-lined, and cleaned in under a week for around $20. Not being a a fan dry cleaning, I come here for all (ALL) alterations. Prices are extremely reasonable. If something isn't perfect, come back and explain. No problem. You're likely to get same day service in that case, and you may not even be charged. Overall, it's pretty clear that they want you to be pleased with the work. The hours are pretty great, too. Sure, there's a bit of a major language barrier, but you're creative. You'll work around it. read more

On a typical day, my shirts may get something on them and I clearly recall what it was. After a Yelp event, however, my clothing tends to have stains that require nothing short of a forensic investigation to determine their origins. I leave it to Pine Cleaners to magically, and consistently, remove them all. That alone gets them 5 stars! If that's not reason enough, try these: 1) I almost always get great, friendly service. It's usually the same person/people at the counter, so I'm now a familiar face. 2) If I need something in a hurry, I can usually get it. Otherwise, their normal service time is quick. 3) I can take my wire hangers back here for recycle/re-use. We all know how we feel about wire hangers... I have yet to try their alteration service. Today I went to pick up my order and I was given a large sum of money that I left in my suit pocket. This is only one example of the service that Pine Cleaners provides. They are always on time and if ever there is a mix up they make good. Once I had a jacket that came back with a stain and they compensated me for the garment. I guess this story begins a couple years ago when I decided to dress up as a Mormon for Halloween. I found a name tag and put the name Lemuel on it. Apparently there's a valley of Lemuel. Anyway, what does a Mormon wear? Well, a short sleeve, white button down shirt, conservative tie, and black dress slacks. Am I right or am I right. Oh yeah, and an understated, small backpack. Long story short, I drank too much and tried to crawl into a hole that I was too big for, in the process ripping my only nice pair of dress pants. At the time I didn't really care. But as each day went by, and with each additional assurance from my fiancee that the pants were ruined, a fire began to burn. I vowed that I would find a place that could help these pants, these sweet sweet pants. Enter Pine Cleaners I don't often have clothes dry-cleaned. But, having a wedding (not mine), to attend soon, and needing an original hem, I went down to Pine. And on the sly, I brought my Mormon pants, holding out hope that the elderly Asian woman I always see in the window could work a miracle. And did I mention they knocked about ten years of ring-around-the-collar off my white dress shirt? No? Well, they did. Have I sufficiently outed myself as a habitual t-shirt wearer yet? Anyway, I had a great experience and will go back if I ever decide to dress up as a Mormon, drink too much at a rock show I hate, and crawl into a space too small for myself, thereby ripping my sweet pants. I finally did it. I broke down, and against all my inner protests and probably better judgement I bought this season's "skinny jeans." as with any of those pantalones they call "premium denim" they are approximately 5 feet too long for what I always thought was my normal height of 5'5". Immediately I think, "no big deal, i'll take them to my little lady on montrose and she'll stitch em right up." but, when the # was out of order there and the shop appeared still there but dark I started to panic. enter Carolyn S., a fabulous yelper who had the pine cleaners suggestion at the ready only 7 minutes further (driving) from my original spot. I was the jerk who came in 10 minutes before closing thursday wanting to wear these new thigh squeezers with the obligatory fall boots this weekend. they were more than accommodating; the guy there shook my and introduced himself to me and welcomed me repeatedly! He also promised they'd be done by the next day, and sure enough at 5:30PM I walked in and they were ready to go for what I thought was a very fair tailoring price for the city ($13.50). The stitching was decent and well matched, wasn't a perfect flawless line, but it appears strong. If my beloved cleaner is closed Pine will definitely be my new alterations home. read more

A stich in time... I am so happy with my alterations recently done here. The "unstoppable force" mentioned in another review is a fantastically talented Korean lady. After a little chat, I was able to haggle the price down a bit, so keep that in mind. It would have cost a fortune but so worth it. Agree that the cleaning service is good (perhaps average?) and slightly pricey. But the convenience and courtesy is worth it for me. I got a few pairs of jeans tailored here..... For 2 original hems, and one waist-adjustment, it was over $50...... which I think is kind of ridiculous. However, they did make a second alteration to the pair that needed the waist fixed, because it was still to big. The quality of the work, in my opinion, was pretty good. Points for effort..... Been using them for quite some time, despite them being a bit pricier, I understand overhead is a bit more in the neighborhood. I thought it was a bit odd they had a small dog running around, but I let that slide. Unfortunately, the glue from their cheapo hangers stained my pants and they refused to reclean them. Not only are they overpriced... but they allow a dog to run around the business all the time. Usually, he is trying to get out the door while the owners call to him but never move to get him. Today, I picked up one pair of slacks for $4.50, and the dog was biting my feet. I reached down to remove him (when I wanted to give him a nice kick in the teeth) when he attacked me and bite my hand rather well, puncturing the skin and drawing blood. "He gets like that when he is trying to eat!" Here is an idea... If he is aggressive at feeding time, don't feed him out where customers are! DUH! Better yet, don't have a dog in your non-animal related business! $55 later after a tetanus shot, I won't be going back again. They are fortunate I am only posting a bad review and not filing a police report. read more

I rarely write these reviews, but felt compelled to do so. I've been using Pine for several years now, they've always done an excellent job hemming jeans for me, with the original hem intact. I just picked up 5 suits I took in to have cleaned, repaired, aged stains I never took care of, pocket repairs, new belt loops that had worn away. You name it, they needed work. I was astonished how beautiful they all turned out. It truly feels like I just picked up 5 brand new suits. Thanks Pine! Helps to start the new job feeling new and refreshed. read more

I honestly used to love this place. I considered the owners friends - and saw them a couple of time each week, They did a great job with my dry cleaning. Then they left to work on another store and the people who took over are not very good. They have lost items, then they find them a year later and blame me for not picking them up. I finally gave up when 4 times in a row, I went to pick up my dry cleaning and they held back at least one item to be sent back for more cleaning. It is nice that they do that, but please - can't you get it right the first time? It left me with no certainty whether I would get an item cleaned and back on time. Not worth it. read more

OK. So it seems to me like a lot of people have good things to say about this place. But I have to say that I literally got so fed up this morning that I created a Yelp account for the first time EVER just to review this place. That's how annoyed I am, and my threshold is really high. I don't mind most inconveniences, but this has been ridiculous. Firstly, there is a younger girl working here that takes in a lot of the orders. I have had employees repeatedly call me at work because they can't follow the ticket she wrote or because she left out really significant info, I've been overcharged on multiple occasions, etc. Here's the straw that broke the camel's back. I paid a ridiculous amount to have three pairs of pants hemmed, after which ensued more phone calls, questions, and a 30 minute in-person discussion about what the difference between two types of hems were, and less than one month later they have all fallen apart. I guess if you want basic cleaning and keep an eye on what you're being charged for, this place is fine. Otherwise, skip it. I am going to go and try to get my money back. Wish me luck. I will never use this dry cleaner again. read more

This is the only place I have trusted to hem designer jeans. They have hemmed probably 10 pairs of jeans for me in the last 5 years, and every one of them have been perfect. I always wear a short heel when being fitted, to make sure that they aren't too short when I get them back. read more

Tried this cleaner for an alteration based on previous Yelp reviews and am very dissatisfied! I normally buy right off the rack and don't have things altered, but bought designer jeans for the first time and needed to get them shortened (since they were like 10 inches too long). Pine Cleaners does 'original hem' and had pretty good reviews, plus when I called they said they could get them done in the timeframe I needed (brought them in on a Wednesday morning and needed them for Friday night). I put them on and they measured and pinned. I told them I wanted to keep them pretty long, even touching the ground with shoes on, since I'm concerned about jeans shrinking and then being too short. I washed them a couple times before bringing them in to help with the shrinkage, but jeans tend to continue to shrink some over their lifespan anyway. I don't mind jeans being a little long, but there is nothing worse then jeans that are too short! She said she understood, agreed, and they would keep them long. Went to pick them up today. They were scheduled for a Friday morning pick-up. When I got there at 11:15am, I had to wait awhile because they couldn't find them, then finally realized they were still in the sewing machine and needed threads cut. (Disorganized.) Tried them on and they are TOO SHORT, which means TOTALLY DESTROYED!!! They barely skim the top of flats and one washing will make them too short to ever wear again. I am so upset...$200 down the drain because of their incompetence. Do not go there with anything you don't mind trashing after they destroy it. read more

My naughty, naughty cat decided that peeing on my nice down Land's End coat was a good idea. Once I discovered the nose burning cat pee, I ran it up to Pine Cleaners. I was sent here because Macy's at Watertower no longer does tailoring. I had 2 suits that needed the jackets taken in and the pants out & hemmed. I also had 3 pairs of pants that needed out and hemmed. I don't know if it's just me but I think that $230 is a bit much for that work. They are very sloppy. They just "eye-ball" you, they don't bother to pin you up, so sizing is inevitably wrong. Not just that, but work I paid for was not done when I went to pick the stuff up. I tried everything on, as one should, and it was "where are the hems I paid for? These sleeves aren't right, why cant I zip these pants up, who sewed the pockets closed. What were you people thinking!!!" It took three weeks and it wasn't done right? They fall all over themselves with promises, we'll fix it, it's ok, don't worry... I HAD TO GO BACK THREE TIMES before they got it right. 4 trips and $230 for crappy work. The whole mess took five weeks to complete. I could have had a suite MADE in less time. Perhaps minor tailoring is fine, and some on here have said so, but for quality tailoring, look elsewhere if you want it done RIGHT and ON TIME. (I have posted this at 17 and Pine Cleaners, they own both. They started my work at 17 and shipped it to Pine, where I had to have it re-done twice. Both locations are equally bad) read more

I've tried this place for awhile and the shirts came out ok, nothing special, and not very good on larger stains. The biggest problem is when they promise to alter garments by a certain date, they miss the target and don't notify the customer. That's not good when you have deadlines yourself to meet. I don't think they have a sense of urgency or organization and don't admit to their mistakes, other than to say "I'm sorry." I will go to a more reliable and organized place that values timeliness and quality. read more

GREAT dry cleaning. I always take my cleaning here and I'll continue coming for the cleaning. They do a great job; they're fast and very reliable. The reason I take away two stars? Because the alterations are ridiculous. I brought one curtain panel here to have it taken up by about an inch. They charged me $18 (half the price of the curtain), never removed the original hem, and did a so-so job. Because she didn't remove the original hem, the curtain now has two seams at the bottom, rather than one. It doesn't look good and it cost way more than it was worth. This job couldn't have taken the seamstress more than 5 minutes. I will find someone else to do my alterations from now on. read more

I found them a bit pricey on the alterations, and the work--especially having a pinstriped jacket taken in, and where the striping needs to be even--wasn't exceptionally well-executed. Still, they were polite, friendly, reasonably quick, patient, and OK with my having some additional work done. They did very nice work with one Chinese silk dress, so my complaints are more a matter of perfectionism. I believe in supporting small local businesses, and I might use them again, but I'm also still looking around for the perfect tailor. read more

Based on the reviews from fellow yelpers I took some t-shirts and two pairs of pants to be altered. Why t-shirts you wonder? Well, they are long sleeve t-shirts, perfect for wearing under sweaters, but not if they sleeves extend past your hand. So I thought, dammit, I'm an adult and I should dress like an adult, and not looks so slovenly/juvenile. The pants needed hemming because I'm short with a big butt and small waist, so there's normally lots of tailoring needed with my dress pants. The quality was fine, nothing extraordinary but the price seemed a bit steep- 3 long sleeve t-shirt cuff hemmings and two pant hemmings-one with just the lenght and another with lenght and waist hemmed and it was 78.00. So I think I'll try another place for alterations next time and compare the quality and prices... read more

I have had lots of alterations done here. Sometimes I am surprised by the cost of a shirt hem. When they resewed a snap onto a winter coat, it was sewn through the pocket, such that it closed off part of the area of the pocket, so I'll have to get that redone. The few times I have dry cleaned here, it has been ok except 1 silk shirt with natural loosely flowing fabric came back stretched out such that the front side is significantly longer than the back side of the shirt. I don't blame them necessarily, as I suspect that may have happened anywhere, but obviously this doesn't inspire confidence. Thus resumes the perpetual search for an outstanding dry cleaner. read more

Way, way overpriced. I brought in a t-shirt to be hemmed and it was $15. My jaw literally dropped when she rang me up. That is extremely overpriced. I am a dry cleaner afficionado and every time I move, it takes me 6 months to switch to a new local dry cleaner. I have been pleased with Pine ever since I moved to Andersonville a few years ago. I actually moved a couple blocks south with a cleaner closer to my house but I will still make the trek to Pine. read more

GREAT SERVICE! I'm going with 4 stars on this one, leaving one star out because it was pretty expensive... But 4 stars for excellent service! I'd been referred to them for alterations to a bridesmaids dress I had. They were so thorough in getting every little measurement in every area to make sure it would fit properly everywhere. Before this place I consulted the tailor at a different place who said that this dress is only able to change then length of the dress and nothing else. So I was so happy to know that they were able to take stuff in/let stuff out everywhere else! When it came time for me to pick it up, I requested to try it on again. It was totally my fault that the first time I came in I was wearing a sports bra so my measurements of course would be different than the pushup strapless I'd be wearing for the wedding! hahaha. But instead of just blaming it on me and calling it a day, they apolgized for their error (it wasnt even their fault) and they offered to alter it. Since the wedding was the very next day, they hustled and get my dress remeasured and fixed within just a few hours. The man at the counter felt bad for having me stick around the neighborhood so he even offered to deliver the dress to my house once they were done. I told him it wasn't necessary. But that was a nice gesture. The dress came out perfectly and they waterproofed it all for me since it was pouring outside! (bagged it up a couple times, then put it in a paper bag for me) And the whole time I was working with them, they gave nothing but smiles and made you feel happy. :) I completely think they are worth the cost. I'm not sure if i would go there for ALL my alterations like hems and stuff cuz it's a bit pricey, but definitely for all my important things like formal dresses and what not. read more

I had a suit altered here based on Yelp reviews, and was very happy with the results. Aside from the hemming and sleeve-shortening, I needed the jacket taken in on the sides (since I have some junk in the trunk, I had to buy the jacket a size too big). The darts she added were beautiful, and matched perfectly the ones that were already part of the suit - you can't even tell that the suit was altered and it fits beautifully. I love Pine Cleaners. Been taking my clothes there for over five years. I primarily just do the dry cleaning, but I have done alterations there. Both always turn out great. They can turn everything around as fast as you need it - cleaning or alterations. Very friendly service.
