It's here where they had their annual Arts and Leisure Festival, where different reporters and columnists interview various celebrities. Included this year were Cornel West, Tom Brokaw, Martha Stewart, Josh Brolin and Feist, whom we saw. You walk in, and it seems like the lobby of a museum or the opera house. Its very clean, very proper, with very serious looking people working there as security and ushers. And since it is the New York Times the majority of people there were above the age of 40. Yes, even for the Feist discussion there were more older people than younger. The theatre itself is rather small but it looks like it fits about 300 people. So that means that every seat in the house is a good one. The sound system is very clear and not too loud, which I know alot of the older people would've complained about. Plus the seats themselves are plush and very comfortable. As for the show itself, it was great. Feist can pretty much talk all day and night and I would be enthralled. They even had a Q&A where audience members got to ask questions, but they had to goto the microphone at the head of the aisles. Needless to say, my partner pretty much bum rushed and gang tackled me and everyone else on her way to the mike so she could be the first one there.

You can probably do about 350 people here comfortably at an event in the theater... more than that, and you can't cram them all into the auditorium but at least you can project it downstairs in the hall. Would've liked to see more seats in the hall itself downstairs during the breaks, but I guess it's not bad to stretch the legs. Also a rumor of wifi, but no signs or anything else to denote how to use it. Perhaps the event coordinators didn't bother to order it? Overall, great experience with the staff, venue checked out well (clean and bright), though the line for the bathroom did get a bit long (we had a full conference).

The 4-million square foot BAT complex was used as a supply base and military depot during both World Wars. During WWII, it became the country's largest military supply base. Soldiers were deployed from here -- Elvis Presley being the most famous. BAT was decommissioned in 1964. Much of the original architecture remains today. A variety of tenants lease the space. I spent a long time in Building B's impressively majestic main atrium, soaking in the stunningly silent and solemn atmosphere. It was late in the day, and overcast. I was one of the only ones there. It felt almost reverent, as if I was in an industrial cathedral. Very cool to also see the old track where freight trains use to pull in and unload their cargo. Afterwards, it was a short walk around back to catch the NYC ferry. I'd love to return one day and explore more of this remarkable place.

Overlook is a gorgeous space with floor to ceiling windows and skylights. It overlooks the Bryant Park skating rink, Winter Village and has views of the surrounding buildings. The views here are AMAZING!!! I recently attended one of their free yoga classes as part of their Winter Fitness program. The space is pretty large and comfortably held the 40 or so attendees the night I attended yoga. We all were informed beforehand to bring our own mats and towels as these would not be provided. The yoga sessions are run by different yoga companies and the one I attended was by Sputnik Yoga and was a silent headphone yoga session. We each were provided, free of charge, headphones to wear during class. This was my first time attending a session like this but had a blast! The headphones took a bit getting used to, but I loved that you could clearly hear the teacher during the class. They also played some cool music while helping to block out all other sounds. This really helped me focus on the movement and the instructions. The class was an open level Vinyasa but the movements and flow were slightly advance. It was quite a workout and I was sweaty by the end. After class, we were each given wipes to sanitize the headphones and our mats. Then we all took selfies in this beautiful space and one final group picture, which they posted on their Instagram account. This was by far the coolest yoga class I've ever taken. I've been telling all of my friends and co-workers about it and have already signed up for some of their upcoming classes. Overlook offers other types of activities like Meditation, Ribbon Dancing, Barre classes and Story time for kids. It is a great place to watch the skaters below and enjoy Bryant Park's free activities. I highly recommend trying them out.

What sold us was the suite layout, a proper separate living room with a sofa bed for the kids, a kitchenette for keeping drinks cold, and a king bedroom that felt genuinely spacious rather than the usual cramped Manhattan hotel room. The antique-inspired furnishings gave the whole place a bit of personality too, not just another generic modern box. We were lucky enough to get a room with a balcony, which is basically unheard of for a hotel in this part of the city, and sitting out there with the skyline in front of you is a proper treat. Location-wise you can't do much better, a short walk and you're right in the middle of Times Square. Staff were great throughout our stay too. Would happily book again.

The building has several floors with fast elevators that take you between the floors. There were beef, crab, tofu, any type of slider for every diet and preference. Snacks were changed throughout the event from a pretzel wall to a donut wall. Better for you options included veggies and a pickle jar. The rooftop reception had bite sized appetizers from small hamburgers in a fancy black box to kebabs. Everything was so good! They also provided quality coffee throughout and Coca-Cola products. 3) Service: The staff clearly take their jobs seriously. They are hard working, not intrusive, and run the event so well. 4) Location: It's just south of Hell's Kitchen close to the Hudson River. Easy to walk to and/or take the subway. 5) Vibes: It's an industrial design with lots of open pipes, etc. It's very Instagram worthy! But I will attempt to answer: 1) I want a Yelpie, and I want one BAD. Oh you didn't know Yelpies were a thing? Well yeah I didn't either until yesterday, now I'm really finna turn it up on these reviews. Imagine how good a Yelpie would look on my mantle right next to my 8th grade basketball CYO pre-season tournament MVP, which is my crowning achievement to date. 2) This park is right across from my place and it's honestly SICK. It is covered in greenery and there is also a small little amphitheater-like seating arrangement. During the week it's a great place to come mellow out, smoke a CBD joint (allegedly), or just read a book. On the weekend there will be little cookouts (I have yet to be invited to one but I remain optimistic), concerts, or just cool, niche events. A lot of culture in and out of La Plaza Cultural. Hahaha see what I did there? 3) I just have a lot, and I mean A LOT, of fun writing things. The hotel itself has an incredible history and so much potential, but it's clearly in need of a significant renovation. Much of the property feels dated, with noticeable wear and tear, including damaged furniture in the room. For a hotel of this caliber and reputation, I expected a much more polished experience. One of the main reasons I chose The Plaza was the size of the rooms, which are some of the largest you can find in New York City. That aspect definitely lived up to expectations and was appreciated, especially given how limited space can be elsewhere in Manhattan. That said, the staff was outstanding. Every employee I encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Room service was excellent, prompt, and one of the highlights of my stay. The fitness center was another disappointment. While the equipment was adequate, there didn't appear to be any staff monitoring the space. During one workout, several young children were running around the gym, which made it difficult to focus. I love kids, but a fitness center should remain an environment where guests can exercise safely and without unnecessary distractions. On my final morning, a personal trainer and what appeared to be a resident were carrying on an extremely loud conversation throughout my workout. I could hear them from outside the gym, and even with my headphones turned up to maximum volume, I could still hear their conversation and a phone repeatedly ringing. It was disappointing, especially from a fitness professional, who should understand basic gym etiquette and be mindful of other guests. One thing I do want to highlight is that the tea service and dining experiences at The Plaza are truly exceptional. The service during these moments is where the hotel really shines and delivers on its iconic reputation. In fact, I've noticed that many reviews focus heavily on the tea and dining experiences, which are undeniably memorable. However, they don't always reflect the actual overnight stay experience, which can be a bit misleading for guests booking a room expecting the same level of consistency throughout the property. Would I stay here again? Probably not unless the hotel undergoes major renovations. I've stayed at other comparable luxury hotels in the area, paid less, and had a noticeably better overall experience. While The Plaza's history, iconic status, and room size are undeniable, the guest experience simply didn't meet the expectations that come with its reputation.
