E.g. one specifically liked playing in water, one really liked the cow's molasses in buckets nearby, some had a little bit more sass than the others, etc. The little tidbits that she gave for each horse was a clear indication that the staff & owners cared for and loved these horses - this is enough for any animal lover to want to support this business. It also made it easier to connect with and understand our horses to make the experience more enjoyable. HCT was otherwise fairly priced & reasonably understanding if customers are running late. The trails were beautiful and unique. The dogs running along with us were entertaining. I couldn't have asked for a better time! Note: They have a little outhouse on the side, but unless you're ok with those, be sure to use the bathroom before!

All of that was included. The rooms were old, but nice. Bunk for the kids and queen bed for us. We stayed in one of the lodges. There was a common room with a fireplace and some games we utilized, too. We had a mini fridge and microwave. We used those for storing breakfast and lunch items and the microwave for popcorn at night. Was a nice stay! The cross country skiing trails were great, even with the limited snow that this year has brought. Great workout and loads of fun. We did that with our kids for a few hours each day (January stay).

At the top of the trail ( we went on the 1.5 hour ride) there was a majestic view of Mount Evans and the Colorado landscape in all its beauty. Extremely disappointed. Been to Colorado multiple times on multiple rides with personal animals.. first time every paying for an outfitter and was sorely disappointed... do better Mr. Travis. Sharing in hopes he doesn't do it to someone else whos looked forward to something like this all week after driving 20 hours. Currently on the phone with bank getting debit card deactivated trying to recoupe some funds from it. Been to horse camps all over the south/west and never encountered this. We did a 2 hour private ride with a group of 12 and it was amaaaazing! The aspen groves are beautiful and the view from the top is awesome! All of the beauty without the work of hiking to the top. We also bought the cowboy hats that they sold for $30 in their store, and it brought the photos to the next level! Our guides were so kind and knowledgeable!! The horses were sweet and so so we'll trained - those horses live the best life! If you are going to go horseback riding in Colorado, your research is done - this is the best place you can go.

As an experienced rider, I was looking for a trail ride that would not be the stereotypical nose-to-tail walking trail ride that is so commonly offered, and this trail ride did not disappoint! We were able to ride in a pack, side-by-side each other. We rode from the ranch, out through a pasture, and up a hillside to the top of the butte. On the butte, they let us experienced riders do more than walk on our horses. Amy, Josh, and Josh were so warm and welcoming and shared some history about the area. Fantastic tour guides, and amazing humans. My friend and I were visiting Colorado for about a week, and Amy gave us some recommendations of additional things to do/see while we were in the area, as well. Next time I make it back to Colorado, I would absolutely go back and visit Platte Ranch again. I would almost go back to Colorado for another vacation just to go riding here again. I cannot recommend it enough!!! Not only was the ride amazing, and the scenery too, but our trail guides were the very best. They engaged with each one individually, tried to learn a little about each of us and made sure everyone was having a good time, that we were all comfortable, and they let us know several times to just ask if there was anything we needed. This was my first time in Colorado and this was my favorite experience out of the entire trip! It's such a beautiful way to see the Rocky Mountains. Everyone who works there is knowledgeable and will make you feel at ease throughout the ride. I did the three hour and I highly recommend it but be aware your legs and booty will be hurting for a couple of days haha!! Still worth it! When I visit Colorado again, I will 100% be booking a ride here.
