It was seasonal but it was free to skate there because of local donors. There were always multiple staff who skated around the rink to make sure everyone was safe and guided people around those who had fallen or were creating unsafe situations for all the skaters. The figure skaters only practiced in the middle of the rink that had cones around it to prevent any public members from confusion and entering that space. You were asked to follow the direction of the skating and not go against the flow. There was a mandatory break halfway to clear the ice. This rink is a far cry from that. Skating is honestly a hazard here! I had to check in mid skate to see if I was still in public skate because there were so many figure skaters on the rink doing whatever they wanted. Skating wrong ways, blocking the path, zig zagging between skaters, all the things figure skaters do.I had a few almost run ins myself. I don't understand why public skate can't be a fun time to skate around and around without worrying if you're going to have a head on collision with the figure skater. I felt really frustrated because this wasn't the first time that I've come here and had this happen. Can there be a designated time for the figure skaters to practice? I get it.. share the ice but when it's a literal free for all it's hard to predict where to skate and stay safe. I'm familiar with how to stop safely but for newbies this is really unsafe. I want to take my nephews here but is there a time when it's truly a public skate?

Our favorites were the rollercoaster which we did twice, I did the Zero Gravity ride twice which was fun and surprisingly relaxing too, and we loved the adrenaline rush of the AtmosFear ride. Plenty of food and beverage options available. Merch for sale. Kiddie rides, family rides, adult rides. Great for groups, family, kids, teens, adults, couples. Soooo fun! I guess that should have been a clue. You can buy a bracelet, or individual tickets for rides. If you're accompanying a child under a certain age, you are able to buy a bracelet for a lower price. There's a handful of kid rides that kids can go on if they meet the height requirement. There's also a game area, with carnival-like games. But they're freaking expensive; we played the pond one since it was a guaranteed win and the odds of a 3 year old playing any of the other games successfully are pretty low. But it was 6 bucks. There were 3-4 other games in that area. It wasn't a very extensive park. And when we went on a Friday in August, there only seemed to be one of the food trucks open--the boba truck. So that was disappointing. But luckily they had other food, and that food wasn't too bad. Parking isn't bad. There's lots of it and it's cheap, I think it was $2. However, the rest of the facility definitely shows its age. The stands are nice enough, though they are located on the far side from the entrance, making for a bit of a trek if you're carrying gear. The lobby isn't huge, and the locker rooms are a tight squeeze, especially if you have a full-roster adult hockey team trying to gear up at once. On the positive side, you can tell they are making an effort to modernize. The lobby, locker rooms, and bathrooms have been renovated, which is a huge improvement over how they used to be. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, whether you're there for a tournament or just a public skate. It's a classic, "old school" rink that has its quirks but remains a reliable staple for the local hockey community.

During the summer you could skate outside the grounds of Oaks Amusement Park, and when the weather turned, they offered skating inside the covered (but side vented) Lloyd Center parking garage. Skating was broken up into 2 hr sessions with a 50 person max. They have speakers set up playing music (this works great at Oaks Park but the sound does not carry well in the parking garage so I usually bring my own headphones and music there.) They have two options: $20 a person with equipment rental (skates and pads) $10 a person if you bring your own equipment or you are just going to walk. If you are bringing your own equipment I highly recommend the softest outdoor wheels you have. The Lloyd center parking garage is surprisingly rough. I used my hybrid wheels the first time and made it work, but the experience was much more pleasant the second time on my gummy wheels.

The staff is always friendly and helpful. There are plenty of cardio machines, stair masters, treadmills, elliptical, rowers, etc. There is also an area dedicated to crossfit with all the equipment you need, including the assault bike and even a rope to climb. Great crowd, everyone picks up after themselves and cleans the machines after use. Something the people in Florida need to learn, basic gym etiquette. There are sanitary wet wipes to wipe the machines. As a clean freak, I appreciate it. Also, the locker room area is very clean. The membership is a bit pricey but, as a visitor we were offered a 7-day guest pass. Or you can buy 10 visits for $100. Or pay as you go $10 a visit. Only thing I can say was that it felt muggy at times.
