So for me it was all about Adrenaline Peak their Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter 320 model which has a clone in New Jersey on the boardwalk and is also a super fun ride so I couldn't pass up getting to ride the Oaks version and let me say this coaster was super fun very smooth and all thrill which is perfect and totally awesome for a small family park like this one! They have a cool free train ride that takes you around the park so definitely don't skip out on that! They also had a small county fair going on when I was here so that was a cool mix to add to an already super fun park! There really is something here for everyone so don't sell yourself short as this is a great local park that is definitely something I'd frequently visit if I lived here as I love places like this and there just aren't many out there like this anymore! Overall super fun local family owned amusement park that has thrills great and small along with a roller rink a mini golf course and lots of other fun activities so do yourself a favor and go enjoy this awesome park as it truly is a gem in the area!

The retro nostalgic charm of this place makes it a true gift, but the rink isn't just about the past, the rink also hosts a world class skate team. The snack bar is a your classic greasy rink snacks, so don't expect a three course meal, but if you want fries and a soda, they got you covered!

If you're here for the sport, the ice is always fantastic; consistently solid and well-maintained, which is clearly why the Winterhawks use it as their practice facility. However, the rest of the facility definitely shows its age. The stands are nice enough, though they are located on the far side from the entrance, making for a bit of a trek if you're carrying gear. The lobby isn't huge, and the locker rooms are a tight squeeze, especially if you have a full-roster adult hockey team trying to gear up at once. On the positive side, you can tell they are making an effort to modernize. The lobby, locker rooms, and bathrooms have been renovated, which is a huge improvement over how they used to be. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, whether you're there for a tournament or just a public skate. It's a classic, "old school" rink that has its quirks but remains a reliable staple for the local hockey community.

The pandemic didn't offer many opportunities for fun events last year, but the Rose City Rollers…read morewere saviors with their ticketed outdoor skating events. During the summer you could skate outside the grounds of Oaks Amusement Park, and when the weather turned, they offered skating inside the covered (but side vented) Lloyd Center parking garage. Skating was broken up into 2 hr sessions with a 50 person max. They have speakers set up playing music (this works great at Oaks Park but the sound does not carry well in the parking garage so I usually bring my own headphones and music there.) They have two options: $20 a person with equipment rental (skates and pads) $10 a person if you bring your own equipment or you are just going to walk. If you are bringing your own equipment I highly recommend the softest outdoor wheels you have. The Lloyd center parking garage is surprisingly rough. I used my hybrid wheels the first time and made it work, but the experience was much more pleasant the second time on my gummy wheels.

She has been skating for about 7 years total. We had heard good things about the program at Lloyd and decided to give it a try even though we live less than 10 minutes from the Sherwood rink. I'm so glad we did! The value you get at Lloyd can't be beat. If you happen to miss a class it's easy to pick up another class as a make up plus you can attend Open skate for free and get a punch card to bring a friend to Open skate a few times each session. Freestyles are also less expensive than other rinks in the areas. If you have done a learn to skate program there are some more advanced classes you can take like Choreo & Moves. The coaching staff is awesome, knowledgeable and patient. They go above and beyond to make students feel welcome, safe and included. (Special shout-out to Lydia!) Lloyd Center is also great for folks just wanting to skate for fun. Much of the day is available as Open skate and there are in and out privileges for the day. That means you can skate, pop off to grab lunch or shop and then skate again. It's a great little outing to do with friends or family.

If I wasn't so worried that my nieces would need me for something, I would have just walked the mall but I got stuck taking pics and holding their phones like a chump..haha. good times.
