We were referred to Winter's Auto Service to have Mario diagnose the engine oil cooler on a 2007 Volkswagon Passat, during our research we found the replacement cost was between $65.00-$93.00, when Mario called saying it would be $800.00, we assumed most of this was for labor, however when we went to pick up the vehicle he charged us $585.95 for the part in addition to charging $300.00 for labor and also changed the oil WITHOUT our permission when the oil was recently changed in 9/2023. The total repair costs were within the original quote. He kept the 06 Chrysler till the fans were in good repair so vehicle won't overheat when driving. Local mechanic Mario was able to diagnose the check engine light on my truck. He was straight forward by telling me the ​prior owner of the truck may have messed with​h the​ ​ engine and that a replacement engine was needed. He was honest in his assesment and told me he didn't want me to throw in lots of money into an engine that may or may not fix the check engine light. I have to give this place only 3 stars. In order to replace a broken wheel stud, the steering knuckle and balljoint had to come off. The car repair guy hammered on the steering knuckle so many times to separate the balljoint that after the job was completed, the wheel alignment was now misaligned. FINALLY!!! An honest mechanic!!! I cant speak highly enough of this place. I don't even know where to start I am so impressed. First off, you get to talk to the actual mechanic who is knowledgeable. If you go to a dealer you just get a "service" adviser who has probably never touched a wrench in his/her life. I took my girlfriends car in for a brake problem. It is a very specific problem to her vehicle, and the code does not store in the computer. I did some online research and felt a brake booster would fix the problem. This shop advised me to NOT spend the $775 it would cost to replace as they were not sure it would fix the problem. He instead offered to have me bring in the truck back in when the problem was happening again, so he could grab to code to be 100% sure. He could have easily taken my girlfriends money, but choose to make sure we are 100% happy. He then applied my diagnostic charge to some other minor work he did to give us the best possible value. Most mechanics don't even credit the diagnostic charge back. They cleared the airbag light and tightened up some steering, the truck feels much better now! I feel so great having found an honest mechanic that charges reasonable rates and doesn't do unnecessary work. I can't recommend this shop highly enough, THANK YOU!!!!! read more
