He had my car for over a month for a simple fix as well so if you don't need your car for weeks and like a shop that scams you bring it on down to Ruben. They are slow, but the job gets done. Plan on leaving your car for a week or two. I ended up with a leak a few months after getting the new transmission. It took some phone tag and we had a struggle fitting me in, he's short staffed and my work schedule isn't super flexible. He ended up sending someone to pick it up, he fixed it and brought it back to my house. He even fixed up some things that weren't part of the transmission. It was slow, but it got done. read more

Terrible service, deserves negative stars. He failed to repair my transmission in my work truck several times and now I might lose my business because I have had to turn down jobs and wasn't able to show up for jobs when it broke down time after time. I took the truck to another mechanic who said none of the work this shop claimed they did was done and they made the problem worse. In addition, they scratched up my wrap on my truck so badly I will have to get it re-wrapped. Now I'm out almost $5,000 I paid this this shop and thousands more from lost jobs. It will cost me thousands more to fix all the damage to my truck. He refused to give me paperwork and demanded cash only and won't give me the old parts back. I paid $2800 up front for a transmission to be installed in my shuttle bus in 2021. Since paying in full up front, I have not received any phone calls or communication despite calling dozens of times, leaving voicemails, requests to be called back, etc. When I do get ahold of someone it's one excuse after another. I filed a complaint with the bureau of automotive repair last week, and since then they have informed me that my shuttle bus was impounded last year, despite Ruben telling me time and time again that my vehicle was at his buddy's diesel shop. Now Reuben says they have closed down. I'm out the $2800 I paid in advance and my vehicle is nowhere to be found. If the situation changes I will update this review. read more

No answering machine so you can't leave messages. If your lucky enough to get someone to answer the phone most of the time they'll tell you to hold, and then hang up on you, or they say they'll call you back and never do. Very poor Customer Service and big lack of follow up and cleanliness. How do you allow a vehicle to leave with parts missing? Under the hood was a mess with Transmission Fluid spilled everywhere too. Had a Transmission and Rear Main Seal installed and then noticed the Rear Main Seal never got installed and the Transmission was making noise. They took it back and had it a week and finally just installed another transmission. We had their "shop loaner" for the week and Rubin forgot we had it! He says he forgets a lot. Guess that's why I can't get a return phone call or the missing Debris Shield. read more

Stay away from this place!!! At vehicle pick up the interior on driver side was filthy with grease and grime. Shop owner (Reuben) attempted to address with solvent and dirty rag, only to smear grease and grim deeper into interior fabric. Damage to exterior driver front quarter panel observed and reported to shop owner at pick up. Shop owner claimed to have video cameras but refused to share video while having custody of vehicle. Transmission repairs to vehicle NOT made correctly with damage to transmission main bearing, passenger CV shaft, and transmission casing requiring replacement of transmission and passenger CV shaft from another repair shop (Nissan of Elk Grove). read more

Iv been taking my cars here for over 13 years. not sure what Ruben's issue is these days. My 97 GMC Sierra was towed to Rubens shop, but Ruben's tow guy on December 9 2022. I paid for a new engine in full the day my truck arrived and was told it would be done no later then the 13th. on the 10th my truck was supposedly stolen and left on garden highway with the steering column busted the dash busted and the whole exhaust system missing. Ruben didn't call me until that filling Tuesday and it was at 4:58pm he stated his crew saw my truck drive off on Monday and he was informed when he arrived to work, he claimed maybe I took my truck?! come to find out he arranged for my truck to be taken and parts removed from it. and my truck was towed back to his shop from the tow yard. After sitting there for a week. Once my truck made it back to Ruben's shop he kept stringing me along telling me he had purchased another engine and was going to put the engine in my truck he stated my truck was stolen with the new engine he was putting in my truck. a week later I notice my truck now has my old exhaust system just chilling in the bed if my truck. all of a sudden. I have been trying to get Ruben to give me his insurance information but he states he has no insurance doing a little bit of research of my own. I have come to find out that Ruben gets sued a lot. I ended up having my truck finally towed back to my home reported Ruben to the bar and filed a lawsuit. Ruben also remove other parts off of my truck. When asking why he stated he was removing the old engine. Well then how come I didn't get my parts back when my truck was towed home. I don't know if it's drugs or that shady girlfriend of yours but it's sad to see, you ran your fathers shop to the dirt. I will not let you rip me off. read more

Agreed upon a price and a timeline. Successfully completed on time. Showed me broken parts. Transmission issues aren't fun and Fulton Transmission walked me through the process. If I could give them 0 or negative, I would. Either the business stole hella stuff out of my truck (including all the change anywhere) or else they left it open and some thief did. The first quote started at $800 and TWO WEEKS LATER it was finally finished and totaled $2000. Come to find out they sent the part out to be worked on, they didn't even do it there. Got inside and it looks like they treated it as a work truck while they had it. Visors all nasty with dirty fingerprints and grease. WhenAbsolutely NO COMMUNICATION FOR DAYS after telling me I would get photo updates throughout the process, and giving me pickup deadlines. I never received 1 photo. He would tell me I could pick it up on Thursday and Saturday afternoon I'd call to see why I didn't get a pickup call. No answers when I called. I took my car there, a 2013 Honda Pilot and it needed the transmission sealed. I picked it up and it was making a horrible noise, which it never made prior to me taking it to Fulton Transmission. I told Reuben (the owner)and he said it was a mud flap, I knew this was incorrect. I took it to the Elk Grove Honda dealer for a second opinion. They said the torque converter and transfer case was bad. Honda also mentioned how "sloppy" the seal job was and there was oil everywhere. The transmission was still making a horrible noise and when I originally took it Fulton Transmission, it made no noises. Reuben replace the torque converter and the transfer case. I got it back and it still made a horrible noise. I took it back to Honda. Honda confirmed that It only had a quart of transmission fluid and it was the wrong type. They confirmed I needed an entire transmission now and that if it was taken care of properly to begin with, that I would not have to be going through this. I would not recommend this place. There is also no answering machine so you can't leave messages. Undoubtedly the best customer service ever! My alternator went out as I was driving home on Howe Avenue during 5:00 p.m. rush hour. The tow company came and I was recommended to this shop by the tow driver. The shop closes at 5:00 p.m. but waited for me to arrive at around 6:30 p.m. He said he'll diagnose the car first thing in the morning and give me a call to get approval and if not, he'll tow my car to where I want. So I left my car there, and low and behold, Ruben called me at 8:00 a.m. to let me know the alternator was bad and he could fix it for under $300. I told him that I couldn't get the alternator fixed there and my friend will take care of it and I kindly requested he tow it back to my friend's house. He proceeded to bargain with me but, I said I can't get it fixed there because I'm a single mom and my friend offered to handle it for free. So he said he will tow my car. Few hours later, I didn't receive confirmation of my car being towed, so I called the shop. Ruben said that he knows my situation and that he cleaned the alternator and is charging the car and to come and pick the car up. He said the alternator will go out in a few months, but it's running! The best part was that he said I don't owe them anything and they know my situation being a single mom. I am SO GRATEFUL for kind people in this world and Fulton Transmission is undoubtedly a great business! Please go see him as you know it's hard to find good, honest mechanics! God bless you guys! Do not go to this shop, they have terrible customer service, and they are completely unprofessional. My brother took his Jeep into this shop on the 10th in the morning, when they opened. Ruben, the automotive tech at the front counter took my brothers car keys, and failed to fill out any preliminary paperwork. They didn't even record his mileage at the time that he dropped the car off! So the shop kept his car all day on Monday. He received no phone call from the shop about the status of his car. Tuesday rolls around. My brother waited until 12pm to hear from the shop. When they didn't call, my brother called them. They said that they would be done repairing the Jeep by the end of the day. Ruben finally learned how to use a telephone, and finally called my brother on Tuesday night to tell him that his car was fixed. Ruben told my brother that he drove my brothers car around for an hour, to make sure that the car was running okay, even though my brothers gas gauge never changed. The very next day, my brothers car broke down again. My brother called the shop, and told them that his car broke down again. The shop had his jeep towed on Thursday afternoon. My brother didn't receive a call from the shop on Thursday, or Friday. The shop was closed over the weekend, and then they didn't call on Monday. My brother tried calling the shop all day on Monday, and no one picked up the phone. My brother tried calling today, and when he identified himself over the phone, the shop hung up on him. After getting hung up on, my brother and myself drove to the shop to talk to them in person. When we got there, Ruben told my brother that they thought the problem was the coil. The mechanic pulled out the part in 10 minutes, and said that it was defective, without testing the part. My brother told him that he had just replaced that part, so they told him that he needed to return the part that he got from Auto Zone, and that they would replace it. Auto Zone exchanged the part, but noted that the piece was NOT defective. We went back to the shop, my brother handed them the new part, they threw it in the car in 10 minutes, tossed my brothers keys at him, my brother asked if it was fixed, and the mechanic shrugged his shoulders, said "DRIVE IT", and walked off! My brothers car broke down 15 minutes later. We are now having it towed to the Jeep dealership. The Fulton shop kept my brothers car for 5 days, the part that they supposedly needed to fix took 10 minutes to fix. So they kept the car for 5 days for no reason. I asked Ruben why they weren't answering their phone, and he said "you see me working don't you" in an extremely rude manner. I'm telling you, do not go to this shop. Their cheap prices come with zero professionalism, terrible customer service, and you'll feel like you've been swindled in the end! read more

I have been using Fulton transmission for 3 years. They are honest and very thorough. I was having a problem with my vehicle and had no choice, but to go out of town for a family emergency. I explained my problem to them and they told me if my car died they would send their tow truck people to get me so l would not be stranded. Luckily l made it back to home and the next day they fixed my 1992 Plymoth Acclaim. I now have a newer car , but before l bought it they checked it out for me even though it was closing time. They also didn't try to cheat me on a clutch, as I already knew secretly that the clutch only had 30k on it, and when I questioned the technician on how it looked, replied that it "looked good". I can't begin to tell you what a great place this is. I was the kinda person that only trusted the dealer and with a German car, that can get expensive. My car needed about 5K in repairs according to the dealer and in between saving for those 3-4 major issues my car died 70 miles from my shop. I asked the tow driver if he trusted anyone local and he said Fulton transmission. Not only was the car fixed but he showed me why the dealership was "mistaken" about repairs I needed. Saved thousands. Not only that but when I had a tricky issue later they took the time to figure it out even though German cars aren't what they usually work on.
