Well for starters, this place smells like a dump. It has a lingering odor and visible black mold. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned, ever. I was uncomfortable from the moment I stepped in. I wasn't greeted And didn't feel welcomed however, I still stayed because I really wanted to try the deep dish pizza. The moment I stepped onto the patio I became even more uncomfortable because there was a big vicious dog there and people using marijuana. On August 19, 2018, a called into Wize Guys Pizza in Columbia, MO to order takeout pizza. I was placed on hold for five minutes before placing my order at 4:15 and was told it would take 25-30 minutes. I arrived at Wize Guys almost exactly 30 minutes later, as it took awhile to find the place (it was inside a bar). After giving my name, I was informed that my order was only "a little over halfway done." So, I went outside to the beer garden to wait. Thirty minutes later (5:15 for those of you keeping track), I went back in to check on its progression. Two other customers were also there and were told their orders were about halfway done and mine was almost done. So, I went ahead and paid and let them know I would be in the beer garden, waiting (there is nowhere to sit inside). Twenty minutes later, it had still not been brought out and the other two customers were also still waiting... A worker noticed us all standing there (recognized one of the customers and realized he'd been waiting for 20 minutes) and went to the back to get his order. This customer was granted $5 off his next order. The worker then took the other customer's and my names. When mine was brought out, no offer was made to reconcile my wait so I asked for some extra sauce (bleu cheese and garlic butter) since I had been waiting so long (it's now 5:45--an hour and a half after placing my order). As he went to get them, I checked my order to make sure it was correct and actually had not even been given the bleu cheese and garlic butter that I originally ordered on the phone; however, I thanked him and placed them in the box. As he walked away, I hear a snide "I've been waiting here forever." He MOCKED me for expressing my displeasure. Once home, I called back in to speak with a manager about my experience. As I was speaking, the manager informed me that HE was the one to bring me my order. So, I replied, "Okay, then I would like to file a complaint about how you mocked me." To which he responded, "You know what I'm going to do with that complaint? I'll take it under advisement." I am completely baffled by the atrocious customer service I received. Great Pizza, Nice People, But Frequently Wrong Orders First: I had to debate whether to give them 3 or 4 stars. The GOOD: I thought about four because 1) Their pizza is delicious with good topic options and decent prices and their bread sticks are well-priced and ridiculously tasty, 2) They are a local business (and I don't like the business practices of the most of the national chains), 3) The employees have been nothing but nice and friendly when I've had contact, and 4) They deliver to a wide radius of service in Columbia. The BAD: BUT I've given them 3 stars because in the last 6 months or so we've had real problems with them getting our delivery orders wrong since the new online ordering went into use. This never happened when I used to just call in our order, but recently: 1) One time they did not deliver the bread sticks that we ordered and paid for (I ordered and my husband answered the door, so he didn't realize I had ordered them until too late). I emailed and asked just that our money be refunded for the one item we didn't receive. We did NOT get that money refunded and we NEVER heard back in any form from Wise Guys. 2) ordered last night and instead of the olives we ordered they had put ground beef on as one of the ingredients. Luckily we are not vegetarians, but we are trying to eat beef only once a month or so, so not ideal. 3) the time before that we ordered, they left off several ingredients we'd ordered and added one we didn't. Luckily they have not put mushrooms on accidentally since my husband is intolerant and would not be able to eat it even if they were pulled off (if he did he would throw up all night). So, while I WANT to love Wise Guys, I can't quite get beyond "like" because of these recent issues. If I'd ever heard back from them the first time they got the order wrong, I'd feel much better. In my opinion Wise Guys is tied for best pizza in Columbia. Their prices are the best, hands down. Folks new to Wise Guys should be warned. You will receive a very delicious pizza, and it will be very fairly priced, but you might have to wait a while. Their delivery is slow at times. Just understand when ordering that when you receive your pizza largely depends on how high the drivers are. Look, you'll get a well baked pie, but if your driver is also baked, he/she might get lost on their way to your house and it will take a little longer. Came in town for the holidays and had to get some Wise Guys for (not so) old times sake. We were sadly disappointed. We got confused between the Untouchable and The Boss and instead of clarifying for me, the girl who took our order just charged us for an Untouchable with 6 toppings (4 extra!). Mind you, I let her know what pizza special I wanted (the one with 6 toppings) through explanation. To make matters worse, the pizza was very very sparsely topped and none of us were convinced that they used the pepper jack "cheese". Considering we paid extra for 4 toppings, it was insult to injury. I asked that our two complimentary sides be garlic sauce and when we asked for them at pick up, instead of saying they were in the box, they put 2 EXTRA orders in and charged us. I'm with a touring company who is in Columbia performing, and we decided, as we do every where, to support local businesses instead of the Papa Johns where we get a 30% off discount through our hotel. After an exhausting performance we ordered two veggie pizzas at 10:45pm. We waited until 11:45 to call them back, and they had the audacity to say we were to blame because the delivery person couldn't get into the lobby....now I'm pretty sure cellphones are a regular thing these days that all delivery drivers have...perhaps I'm mistaken...regardless when they said they were sending it right back to us (5 min drive) I assumed that was going to be happening asap. NOPE. We got cold, hardened cheese pizza with soggy veggies and soft crust at 12:45am (2 hrs later). Now late is one thing but late and cold/nasty is another. Next time I guess it's Papa Johns because Wise Guys doesn't seem to care about their customers either. At least I know I'll get it hot from Papa Johns. read more

I'm from the Chicago area, and I missed the high-quality pizza I can get there, especially deep dish. Other places in Columbia have fine thin crust, but Wise Guys fulfills my nostalgic taste buds when I need really cheesy pizza and of course Chicago-style pizza. Whether you get the stuffed pizza or the deep dish, it's filling and amazing. I love the crust, and their sausage is the best in town. My girlfriend doesn't like deep dish pizza, but this is her favorite thin crust in town. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of pizza you can get, and I've never had issues with super-long wait times or messed up orders. If you've only ever had normal thin crust pizza or St. Louis style pizza (what IS that, anyway??), then do yourself a favor and order the Chicago-style from Wise Guys. Incredibly rude waitstaff and managers. This establishment is also connected with cattle drive and I have had awful delivery experiences and encounters. I recieved a wrong order so I called and let them know I would like to speak with a manager. I am a manager at a restaurant so I do understand mistakes happen. The manager was so rude, refused to tell me their name when I just casually mentioned I'm sorry I didn't catch your name. In which they answered, I don't have to. I was just wanting to let them know so it wouldn't happen to someone else and all they said was: well do you want your money back or not because this is a waste of my time. I asked if I could maybe speak to the general manager about this issue to which the answer was: he doesn't let the public know who he is or his information. You won't be getting your money back. On the whole, I am a fan of Wise Guys's pizza. It is not the best I've ever had in my life, but it's the best that I've been able to find here in Columbia. (Haven't tried Gumby's yet...) It definitely beats the chain places, and I honestly don't understand why other places in town like Imo's or Shakespeare's pizza get so much love because honestly their pizza is medicore - at best. The flavor of Wise Guys pizza is far superior in my honest opinion. They also are willing to deliver pretty far from downtown as long as you ensure them that you will tip well, which is a plus. Most of the time I've eaten here, it's been while actually in the building, but I've had no issues with delivery. The main negative thing I can say about this place is that the customer service sucks balls sometimes. It really just depends on who is working, but generally speaking, many of the employees are stoned dickheads who completely lack people skills.
