Man, this place is *almost* 5 stars, and I don't give out the 5 so easily, especially having owned my own restaurants in the past. Honestly, I wouldn't give my own old restaurant 5 stars! But I know what my version of perfect is, and this place came pretty close. In fact, I would say there was only one thing missing. You see, my family is on vacation, staying nearby. I decided to check out Sammy's mostly because of their score on Yelp. Looking at the menu and reading it to my wife and kid, the two of them wanted to try the Portobello Mushroom Melt sandwich. Unfortunately, they ran out of mushrooms. It was disappointing, but they got other things (Beyond Burger, and something with eggplant and provolone) that they enjoyed. We started with an order of wings (garlic parmesan) and loved them (big order, too). I got the Ruben Sandwich, with side of potato chips and a pickle. They ran out of freaking pickles. My wife wanted a pickle so bad, she was ready to slap me in the face. But oh man, my sandwich was so freaking good. The wife got these garlic parmesan fries on the side that were incredible. We also had this blood orange flavored hard Cider out of a can. Nate, the waiter, said it's a personal favorite of his and it sounded like a treat so we went with it and it was really good. Nate is an awesome guy and he's got a great, easygoing way about him that really makes the place feel worth hanging out in. The ambience in the place is cool... decorations on the walls and the classic rock was a great addition. If I lived here, I would probably be a regular, though I would constantly break their balls for 86ing the pickles. Worth going... check it out. read more

What a cozy place, a small place with a wide selection of food and beverages. This is what I ordered! House buffalo chicken wings - The size of the wing was quite large. It was definitely great value for its price. The wing was perfectly fried. The meat was tender and the skin was crispy while coated nicely with the buffalo sauce. I don't usually get buffalo sauce, but since it was homemade, I had to try it. Let me tell you, this is one of my favorite sauces now. The buffalo sauce was tangy with a kick. The sauce wasn't overpowering at all. It had a well-rounded flavor. Cubano Sandwich - The sandwich was enough to share between 2 people. The bread was airy with a nice toasted crust. Everything in the sandwich was laid beautifully. It had a great ratio between the meat, the vegetable, and the sauce. However, I think there was a bit too much mustard. The mustard was overpowering the rest of the flavor. All and all, the food here was really good. I paired my meal with a pint. It was perfect. The service was also really great. This spot is just, something else. I like to compare the menu items to something a pregnant woman would crave, and it's all put in a sandwich, and it works. Recommendations are the wings and fries. They're double fried i'm pretty sure, so they're extra crispy. My favorite sub is the Alabama Connection, but I have never gotten a sub I did not like from here. The subs are very filling so I always order a small/ half, whatever the term is. Order ahead of time, at least an hour, they are a busy establishment. Delivery time is great, and they always give you an honest estimate. If you're in the area this is a must have. Good hangover food. Right now during covid restrictions they do have a couple of tables outside, so you can bring your doggo. Right next door the owner also owns a bar, that has a variety of beers, mostly craft stuff by the can. Have only been once, but it was alright. read more

Where do I start... this was a staple in my college routine. I lived upstairs and became so friendly with the owner, Mike. Wise guys employees are friendly, warm and make you feel like family. I used to come downstairs before going out and mike would always help me fuel my stomach with the best sandwiches, soup, wings, salad and their homemade bread. I could go on and on about how much I admire Mike as a business owner and a friend, but I know everyone wants to hear about the food. Well first of all, I have never had a single bad thing from here and I continue to try new sandwiches every time I visit my alma mater. I even brought my boyfriend here and he always says how good the bread and their chicken cutlets are. Every sandwich is unique and delicious in its own way. The salads are great too! Wings are nice and crispy, fries are perfectly fried and the desserts they often have are to die for. If you've driven through oneonta without getting a wise guys sandwich, you have absolutely done something wrong. 10/10 would recommend! read more

My husband and I decided on a whim to stop here on our drive home from NY since it was just a short drive off of the highway. So glad we did! The sandwiches and fries were delicious - well worth the price! Our waitress was friendly and attentive even though we arrived less than an hour before closing and she was also working the bar. Our soft drinks were served in bottles with glasses of ice (which we prefer over fountain drinks). We didn't have anything alcoholic to drink since we were driving but they appeared to have a diverse beer selection. They had sports playing on TV over the bar and the place had a great bar atmosphere overall. I definitely would recommend! read more

I say, When I first tried this establishment, I was thoroughly impressed. The second I was neutral. The third I had figured it out. Wise Guys is locally known as a hidden gem and a great spot if you're seeking a delicious and sizable sandwich. This is typically based upon the sandwiches being amazingly tasty. Here's how it works; your sandwich takes roughly 15-20 mins to prepare. During which time you grow increasingly more hungry than you were when you already arrived. You then take the sandwich home which takes more time and by the time you eat it, you're starving. This presents the illusion of the food being some sort of second coming: it isn't. The novelty wears off quick and, god forbid you arrive sober and realize you're paying $15 for a single sandwich, your expectations are understandably high. Compared to any sandwich establishment I have ever patronized, it comes in just above average. Not enough to justify that price tag though. This place rocks! I went here on a date with my beautiful girlfriend for lunch Valentine's Day weekend and was really hyped by the recommendations I've heard from her friends. When arriving we was greeted by what I think was the owner. He asked us if we were picking up or dining in. We decided to dine in and was allowed to sit really wherever we liked. We chose a nice table near the wall and was greeted by the bartender/waiter. Super chill guy and gave us recommendations on the wings to order. We went with the barbecue wings and the Alabama sauce wings. Boy o Boy were these the spotlight of our meal. They were wonderfully coated and cooked well. A nice crispy bite and moist chicken in the middle. We cleaned our bones with nothing left to spare and even made our waiter put in an order for himself. We then ordered our sandwiches but was unfortunately left wanting more. I ordered a chipotle Mayo chicken and bacon sandwich and I felt that the bread overpowered a lot of the flavor which I felt was lacking. My girlfriends sandwich was much better than what I ordered. It had ham, Mac n cheese bites, and some other goodies which made it have a much more impactful bite and punch of flavor when chewing. Overall a very enjoyable experience and hope to go back there next time I visit Oneonta. I plan to try another sandwich and hopefully I have a better experience with my selection.
