Food 3/5 Service 3/5 Ambiance 4/5 I went into Sloan's as part of a business trip - and I certainly wanted to splurge with my plus one. The atmosphere looked promising - rustic, simple - all the signs of a good, comforting restaurant. I took one look at the menu and something truly stood out - a 3 pound tomahawk steak. Perfect for sharing with a friend or two! When the steak came out, I was in shock. I have never seen that much meat on a single platter, let alone a single tomahawk - it was truly a big steak. The steak itself was done nicely - I have no complaints. It's meat, grilled - and to the doneness I expected. My problem was the sides, which honestly could have been a bit better. The potato didn't really come with much more than a slice of melted cheese and bacon (would have liked chives or sour cream, or even a noticeable amount of butter), and the onion rings were fairly lackluster. The "seasonal vegetables" that came with the steak were also a very modest portion of... carrots. Just carrots with a sweet glaze. Not necessarily bad carrots (maybe slightly underdone), but I expected... at least one other vegetable. I think some more variety to the veggies (plus just more to eat alongside this monstrous steak) would have made this much more of an enjoyable experience. I definitely walked out that night feeling full, but not truly satisfied. My partner-in-crime and I did finish almost the entire steak, after all. Next time, maybe I order less - but I'm still going to be wary of the overall quality of the food coming out of the kitchen. read more

We visited Slaon's while in town for my son's baseball week at AllStar Village. They have a comfortable and casual environment that was just right for us. First they were great in accommodating our large group of 14 for dinner, but definitely recommend reservations if you have a large group. We had friendly and efficient service from Carla, she answered all our questions about the menu and specials they had that night and took great care of us for the entire meal. We tried the brisket puppies and onion rings with the horseradish cream to start, both were great. The starter salad was just a basic salad but good. For the main entree I personally ordered the Utica Chicken with pasta and was absolutely delicious! I had a few bites of my son's clam and crab chowder and his Denver steak with mushrooms, onions and peppers and both were really good. Tried a bite of my friend's BBQ smoker platter and the ribs and pulled pork was good but the brisket was a little dry A few friends ordered steaks, and they all said it was good steak, but not the best they're ever had. So I give Sloan's a 4/5 overall. read more

5 stars? Nope! 10 stars!!! We had reservation for 9 people and came in straight to the table. They were so full and very crowded as it was 4th of July weekend. They have a big parking so it was easy to find a spot. First off, our server was amazing! Very very attentive to us, she ask us for our drinks every time she sees its almost empty. She also informs us of their specials and most requested orders. (Ambiance is also great, feels cozy and the place is clean and well-maintained!) We got the bread with a very nice dip, first time we tried that kind of dip (has dill)We then ordered our appetizers, we ordered Ringers (onion rings), then potato skin and their special Garlic Parmesan Buffalo wings. It was amazing and was very flavorful! Then came our entree, we ordered the tomahawk with turkey noodle soup and salad with coleslaw and rice pilaf. Every order of tomahawk you get two sides and two salad or soup of your choice. Some of our family ordered same. Oooftttt! By this time we are already so full but their dessert menu looked so good so we had to take it home! We paid almost $625, that includes the tip! Are we coming back!? Oh absolutely!! Went with friends for the Easter buffet. The shrimp were absolutely delicious, but that was all. The prime rib was almost raw, and we all had all we could do to saw through ours with a steak knife. The portions were about 1/4 inch thick....at best. Extremely disappointing. read more

As first time visitors to Cooperstown, we were always on the lookout for a good meal. The staff is sweet but I feel it's to make up for the lackluster of the food. We waited 20 minutes for our food. When you have a child that has to be fed due to type 1 diabetes, believe me, you speak up. I ordered the roast beef. The dish looked unappealing. Sent it right back. The side portions were so small I was insulted. My son-in-law had the brisket so I got that instead. It was very fatty & the baked potato was lukewarm & could've been baked longer. This place doesn't live up to its full potential. It could be a goldmine. As a business food owner, I take great pride in satisfying my customer base. So much potential but there's a disconnect somewhere & it needs to be fixed. read more

We really enjoyed Sloane's! From the moment we walked in they were friendly and welcoming. The vibe was very comfortable. Loved the farm mosaics and big fireplace! We ordered the brisket hush puppies and the BBQ sampler. The food was fresh, tasty, and well seasoned. The portions were large and we had more than enough for two of us. The desserts also looked yummy but we didn't have room after a delicious dinner. Our server Kathy was kind, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Would definitely eat here again. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food that never came, despite being told multiple times that our order was "next." Several customers who arrived after us were served before us. When we brought this up, the manager and owner were rude and dismissive, showing no concern or accountability. To make matters worse, we were still charged for soft drinks, one appetizer, and the salads that were supposed to come with our meals. The service was disorganized and unprofessional. Really love the steak here! The loaded bake potatoes are always made on point. I ordered the Tomahawk steak which fed two! It's was $95 and came with two sides and salads. The Cesar salad is my go to an the lettuce is fresh and dressing isn't too much. The bread whole was a must and that night they had the cinnamon butter and it tasted just like Texas Roadhouse I was elated! The steak was absolutely amazing! The clams appetizer is the best order for seafood lover because they put a nice amount of garlic in the sauce and it's perfect for dipping bread. Dessert we ordered the peanut butter chocolate pie and this is the only place I ever order this dessert. They make it's light and just right. Highly recommend to steak and carb lovers! read more

I loved Sloans! In town for CASV and needed a place for a late lunch/early dinner. We had seen great reviews on this place and decided to try it out. We shared a Tomahawk steak at $99 between two adult and one child. Sides could be a little bigger but the steak is definitely the star of the show. We had great service and the restaurant had a nice ambiance. I did try calling earlier to reserve space for a large party and they turned me down. I had to lower my party to 6 people. There was definitely space in the restaurant but I understand its best so the servers dont get too overwhelmed. I would definitely be back. 100% DELICIOUS read more

The smoked menu could probably use some love and attention, I ordered the smoked sampler and at $30 a plate; I was disappointed. The brisket was dry and ribs where like rubber. This was a decent meal. Many meat choices and a few fish ideas. I did the liver n onions with bacon. It was a thin tender slice with more bacon than onions in a great gravy. A baked potato was very very dry or over cooked and corn off the cob. No bread. Good for me. The cheese burger had to be re cooked, was med rare and not med well. Unsalted fries came salted. The chef stopped with "sauce no. 10," but he should have kept searching for sauce no. 11 because those were lame. All the other food: entirely mediocre. The buns- meh. The salad had good dressing but gross greens so, again, a wash. The house wine I had (cab sav) was good for $7. The beer my husband had--meh. The roasted vegetables? Again, fairly meh. Waitress was outstanding but the so called manager was rude and honestly should not be in the service restaurant business. Went for a last minute date night after deciding to try something new! The ambiance is rustic and comfortable. My steak was perfectly cooked with a delicious loaded baked potato. My fiance had the pulled pork, brisket, and the ribs. The ribs were his favorite. I wish the pulled pork came with another bbq sauce, but the meat was perfectly cooked.
