We visited Slaon's while in town for my son's baseball week at AllStar Village. They have a comfortable and casual environment that was just right for us. First they were great in accommodating our large group of 14 for dinner, but definitely recommend reservations if you have a large group. We had friendly and efficient service from Carla, she answered all our questions about the menu and specials they had that night and took great care of us for the entire meal. We tried the brisket puppies and onion rings with the horseradish cream to start, both were great. The starter salad was just a basic salad but good. For the main entree I personally ordered the Utica Chicken with pasta and was absolutely delicious! I had a few bites of my son's clam and crab chowder and his Denver steak with mushrooms, onions and peppers and both were really good. Tried a bite of my friend's BBQ smoker platter and the ribs and pulled pork was good but the brisket was a little dry A few friends ordered steaks, and they all said it was good steak, but not the best they're ever had. So I give Sloan's a 4/5 overall.

5 stars? Nope! 10 stars!!! We had reservation for 9 people and came in straight to the table. They were so full and very crowded as it was 4th of July weekend. They have a big parking so it was easy to find a spot. First off, our server was amazing! Very very attentive to us, she ask us for our drinks every time she sees its almost empty. She also informs us of their specials and most requested orders. (Ambiance is also great, feels cozy and the place is clean and well-maintained!) We got the bread with a very nice dip, first time we tried that kind of dip (has dill)We then ordered our appetizers, we ordered Ringers (onion rings), then potato skin and their special Garlic Parmesan Buffalo wings. It was amazing and was very flavorful! Then came our entree, we ordered the tomahawk with turkey noodle soup and salad with coleslaw and rice pilaf. Every order of tomahawk you get two sides and two salad or soup of your choice. Some of our family ordered same. Oooftttt! By this time we are already so full but their dessert menu looked so good so we had to take it home! We paid almost $625, that includes the tip! Are we coming back!? Oh absolutely!! Will definitely be back again and order the tomahawk!! (some pictures were not taken as we devoured it immediately!)

Tomahawk steak with onion rings and loaded baked potatoe - AMAZING

Really love the steak here! The loaded bake potatoes are always made on point. I ordered the Tomahawk steak which fed two! It's was $95 and came with two sides and salads. The Cesar salad is my go to an the lettuce is fresh and dressing isn't too much. The bread whole was a must and that night they had the cinnamon butter and it tasted just like Texas Roadhouse I was elated! The steak was absolutely amazing! The clams appetizer is the best order for seafood lover because they put a nice amount of garlic in the sauce and it's perfect for dipping bread. Dessert we ordered the peanut butter chocolate pie and this is the only place I ever order this dessert. They make it's light and just right. Highly recommend to steak and carb lovers!

Absolutely INCONCEIVABLE how amazing this place is! We…read morerecently stayed in the area for a youth baseball tournament in Cooperstown and ended up eating here THREE nights in a row--that is how phenomenal it is. The food is incredible. The owner and chef is immensely talented, serving up fresh, farm-to-table dishes. Because everything is so fresh, the specifics change nightly, but everything we ordered was a huge win. The beef carpaccio was dynamite, and the Prosciutto Pizza, house-made focaccia bread, "farm goodies," bolognese, hangar steak, and caprese ravioli were all absolutely delicious. You can taste the quality and care in every single bite. (Sorry no pics...we were too busy eating!) Beyond the stellar food, the cocktail menu is an absolute blast. They have a whole lineup of delicious, creative craft drinks with "The Princess Bride" themed names! Trying the different drinks became half the fun of our dinners. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service. We had a server named Beth whom we absolutely loved. By the third night, she knew exactly what my daughter wanted to drink as soon as we sat down! The owners and the entire staff are warm, welcoming, and treat you like family. If you are anywhere near Oneonta or Cooperstown, do yourself a huge favor and eat here. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

It's an older house painted red with black trim, featuring a newer deck that, at least when we visited, had no furniture on it. At first glance, you might assume it's a neighborhood sports bar or a casual local hangout. Step inside, however, and you'll find something completely different. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and inviting, with a classic dining ambiance that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in the neighborhood. We were in Oneonta for Cooperstown All Star Village and were excited to discover this cozy farm-to-table restaurant. The food was excellent, and the setting made for a memorable dining experience. We started with the Crab Puffs, made with empanada dough, crab rangoon filling, and a jalapeño-green onion emulsion. They were creative, flavorful, and a great way to begin the meal. For our entrée, we shared the daily fish special, halibut served with farm-fresh potatoes and carrots. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the fresh ingredients really showcased the farm-to-table concept. The dish was simple, fresh, and delicious. To finish the meal, we shared the Crème Brûlée for dessert. It was outstanding, with a perfectly caramelized sugar crust and a rich, creamy custard that provided the perfect ending to an excellent dinner. Despite the restaurant being packed, we were seated immediately and received excellent service throughout the evening. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly. The drink menu was another highlight, offering a solid selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Overall, this was one of the best meals we had during our trip. Great food, excellent service, a cozy atmosphere, and a unique setting make this restaurant well worth seeking out if you're in Oneonta.

I stop here whenever I'm in upstate NY to pick up bottles of this scrumptious sauce to bring home. This trip, I was delighted to find they had deep-sixed the "meh" buffet & now offered a full menu, including appetizers & desserts. A half chicken dinner ($19) includes their salad bar, a loaf of their homemade bread & one side. If you're not into chicken, which is what they're known for, they also offer ribs, brisket & other charbroiled meats. The salad bar had a good selection & everything tasted fresh & crisp. Their bread loaf is soft, white & served warm with whipped butter. We also ordered an appetizer of hush puppies, which were delicious with the whipped cinnamon butter that came with them. I chose baked beans for my side dish. Tasty & a good complement to the chicken. The chicken... perfectly charred, smoky, tender... wow!!! So delicious. Now for the weird part... we had leftovers & asked for take away containers. Our server brought us each a plastic box for the chicken. I asked for a small covered cup to take the rest of the beans & was told they don't give those out in the dining room. That was part of the meal I was paying for, so I asked her to please ask management if I could have a container. She came back with one but said, "We made an exception this time, but don't let it happen again." What?!? If it hadn't been for this, I would have rated it 5 stars.

The chicken here like I stated in the pass is off the charts delicious. Nothing even comes close to them. The Mac and cheese on this trip was good as well as the macaroni salad. I ordered online which is super easy to do and ready when they say it's going to be. On Easter Sunday this place was jam packed in the dine in section which made my decision to order and take out online worth it. Just pulling into the parking lot your greeted ti the aroma of bbq and their smokers working overtime. Absolutely amazing. So after a 4 year hiatus, I'm glad to say that this experience was great.

Our server was Jay and he was very accommodating. Once he found out it was our Dad's birthday, he asked his name and each time he came to the table to check on us (which was often), he made sure to make a big deal out of our Dad's special day. Let's get to the food. We had calamari as a starter - cooked perfectly but a little over-seasoned. Still good. The house salad sweet red pepper vinaigrette was SO good I'm going to try to recreate it at home. Caesar salads were also good. My husband and I ordered the Duck Cassis and it was excellent. The broccoli and zucchini that were served with the duck were underwhelming (zero seasoning) but the mashed potatoes were delicious. My Dad ordered the filet/shrimp special and really enjoyed it. Everyone loved their meals. Chicken parm with vodka sauce, Haddock Francais, Roman Caesar salad, Veal Sorrentino, and a couple of pasta dishes. One with gluten free pasta that was really enjoyed. We also ordered the house Tuscan - Montepulciano, the house white, and some cocktails that were all very good. We were too full to order dessert but Jay brought out a chocolate mousse with a candle and we all sang happy birthday to Dad. Overall, very impressive meal. It's a hike from where we live, but next time we're visiting our family in the area, we'll definitely make the trip back.

Three of the four meals were fine. Unfortunately my husband order the 10oz NY strip (an eye popping $28!) He thought he was playing it safe by ordering it medium. When the waitress brought his meal out she said she was waiting for him to cut into the steak to make sure it was to his order. Good thing because it was the rarest piece of meat we'd ever seen! Raw inside! She took the steak back and had them put it back on the grill (her words). Unfortunately when it came back out nearly 20 minutes later after the rest of us had already started, it was still barely medium rare! She offered to take it back and put it back on the grill (again!) but he was so frustrated he told her to leave it and he'd take it home and cook it himself. Sadly after cooking the next evening the majority of the meat was either fat or gristle so the 10oz steak ended up to be about 3oz of edible meat! We've been to other restaurants where an entree has been l poorly cooked, etc. and in each case the restaurant has always comped the meal. The salt in the wound was the waitress only offered to comp our dessert (just my husband and I!) Instead of rightfully comping the $28 meal they comped a $4 dessert. Our experience wasn't bad enough to keep us from going back but we'd definitely recommend to the restaurant that, if they're using a special menu they should've made sure to advertise that or let us know when we made reservations. Additionally, in an obvious screw up like this, always comp the meal!
