The time finally arrived for me to try this place! Located right inside a pizza parlor was this gem. It felt like something from back in time. The bar was stacked with more spirits than I've ever seen at one time. My husband and I both tried two cocktails and enjoyed each. I also appreciated the cushy leather sofa and street view. It had Rum, Heavy Cream, crème de cacao, and aquafaba. I also tried the Ebenezer's Doorbell, which was delicious and refreshing. We ended with the Heartbreak Haley, made by Brandon, and it was outstanding. It had Bourbon, Apple, Honey, Lemon, and Ginger. This was the best drink and came at a super reasonable $8 price. The atmosphere is chill and sophisticated, with a variety of seating for large and small groups, and as a plus, you can order pizza from Goodfella's downstairs from the bar and they'll quickly bring it right to you. My wife used to greatly enjoy coming here and interacting with the bartenders and having some great drinks. We hadn't been in a while and so decided to stop in tonight. Overall was a terrible experience. My wife ordered a drink and I ordered a Godfather. A young new bartender made mine and when presenting it to me I commented that it didn't look like the picture, she couldn't tell me what bourbon was even in it but commented that most likely was not what was in the menu, was served neat with no garnishing unlike the picture showing on ice with cherry and orange peel, etc. When I questioned, she simply said, sorry the menu has changed and is basically the same. Then after a short bit we tried interacting with the guy that was clearly the manager (bald, beard). He was not interested. And at one point I asked what bourbon he had just poured into an interesting looking drink. His response without looking at me was "bourbon." I said to my wife "let's go" and we were gone. Not sure how long it will be before going back. Not interested in getting served something I didn't order and being blown off and shunned by a manager when I was ready to drop some good money on interesting bourbons. read more

The bourbon selection is obviously expansive, but they also do various crafty cocktails which are fun to drink, but also to watch the bartenders make. Shoutout to my bartender who made the most amazing bourbon (their specialty) cocktail (pictured, drink and bartender). Wiseguy Lounge is above the Goodfella's pizza shop. Make sure if there's a line on a weekend night, to ask the bouncer if the line is for the bar or for pizza, most times it's for pizza and you won't have to wait in line if you're going to the bar upstairs. The bourbon wall is massive and so impressive, this is a perfect place to go for a date and have plenty of things to talk about since there's bourbon, TV, a cool cocktail menu to strike conversation, and the usual date topics. The upstairs to the upstairs bar is private and allows for a more intimate experience although the noise from the first floor travels upward so it's a little loud. Wiseguy is a classy hidden gem location for the adult crowd for someone who wants to have good cocktails and conversation. read more

Stopped in for a drink after being gone from Cincinnati for 6 years and amazed at how things have changed. Located in the ever changing OTR area of downtown Cincinnati. Located above the Goodfellas pizzeria Wiseguy lounge is def worth checking out. For the bourbon enthusiast this place is heaven as they have an amazing selection that are reasonably priced. The bartenders were helpful in making recommendations and offering up information about local and store picks. The bar had their stools divided in group of 2 and separated by plexiglass. This is such a cool spot, half hidden above Goodfellas. The music is always great, they have the most extensive drink list, the bar is gorgeous, and they even have TVs so you can keep an eye on how your favorite NFL team is faring. They have a decent draft list and prices are reasonable. It's usually not absurdly busy (although don't expect to waltz into Goodfellas late on a weekend without a long wait). What more could you want? Try the Judy Garland - it's made of rainbows and unicorn tears according to the fantastic bartenders. read more

My first visit to the Wiseguy Lounge. I've been downstairs for pizza at Goodfellas many times. The bar was excellent! I had 3 different cocktails and I loved them all. I am loving this bourbon discovery. I love that Wiseguys use fresh everything, no mixers. I had one drink with blueberry, another with grape fruit and they were do refreshing different and delicious! I feel bad that I don't remember all the names of the cocktails. I enjoyed watching the mixologists do their work. I didn't know about the Market Price menu on the bourbon so I got a little more bourbon education in the middle of enjoying the lounge. We took a look at the outside areas on our way out so we are planning the next visit. Great place! read more

Seriously awesome bar! It's small enough to not be super crowded and loud, but large enough that if you come with 5-10 people there's still enough room for everyone. A couple separate areas of couches, tables, chairs, and standing space makes it ideal for grabbing a drink and having a conversation. The drinks--great! Killer craft cocktails (I need to go back to try them ALL)! If you're looking for an expertly made cocktail that won't break the bank (around $8-9), this is the place. I definitely got the impression that the bartender knew what he was doing--and he was friendly and patient with my group's indecisiveness. If you're in the mood for beer, they have some quality craft beer on tap and almost all are under $5, which feels cheap for a good beer. Like, I think they're selling Rhinegeist for less than you get at Rhinegeist's tap room! It was raining when I went so we couldn't go outside, but they have an outdoor patio that looked amazing. A newly 21-year-old friend and I visited this bar Friday night recommended by a friend. Upon walking in, we were given drink menus and decided on two cocktails. When my friend, who is allergic to gluten, politely asked that her drink be made with a gluten-free brand of vodka, the bartender argued and insisted that all liquor is GF -- which is simply not true. Rather than having a "the customer is always right" attitude and preparing the cocktail with a GF vodka, we were met with attitude and a condescending tone. I would have loved to recommend this establishment to friends, but sadly due to this bartender's attitude and need to argue with the customer, I can not. read more

We are just starting to explore OTR, and this place was recommended. If you don't know it's there, you won't know it's there. Accessed by an unmarked door adjacent to the breezeway door of Goodfella's Pizza, the long staircase to the second level gives you that "gin joint" feel. Only here, it's bourbon. Great, chill, rustic atmosphere. Wide variety on tap, and a nice selection of bourbon too. Friendly bartenders, well-made cocktails. Two things keep it from being 5-stars: 1. For the price of a cocktail, the glass is mostly ice. More whisky, please. 2. Their craft cocktail menu is adequate, but could use a few additions. Perhaps I'm comparing it to Cooper's Hawk because we like to go there, and it is much closer to where we live. If I'm gonna drive to OTR, I want it to be worth the drive. That said, we'll most likely be back to sample a bit more of the drink menu - and maybe some food as well. read more

What a great craft cocktail bar! I had previously been here at times when it was late at night and super crowded, but we came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was a completely different vibe. I started out with a Tafts craft beer, but quickly realized after watching the bartender, that there was some cocktail magic going on here. I quickly switched to cocktails and tried the Guilford Haze, which was good. From there we chatted with the bartender about our likes and he started making some really amazing drinks based upon that. My favorite, which I affectionately named the "smokey devil", was one that he made with a smokey flavor. Really enjoyed just hanging out here for a few hours and catching some basketball games on the TV. Theres nothing wrong with the place on a Saturday night, still good, but easier to order from their huge menu of craft beers, then wait for a craft cocktail. I love this place... one of my favorite bars in OTR I think! Wiseguy is a beautiful cozy bar (dark wood, leather couches), friendly bartenders, lots of whisky, awesome cocktails (and beers too), a patio, and being right upstairs from pizza is awesome. Getting a cocktail here is so fun! They really take the time to get it right... like I literally watched the bartender chip a perfectly square (mas or menos) cube of ice from the ice box to craft a drink! So great. They also really do slide the ladder around and climb it to get to the bottles on the wall. Weekday nights are really nice here and super relaxed... perfect for hanging with some homies and j chillin. I think they have a special maybe on Tuesday nights? Where you get a couple bucks off a whole page of cocktails... I'd recommend coming on a non-Friday/Saturday late night for the full experience! read more

I came here with my dad and some family friends and their [younger] kids, under 21. My dad and his friend and I walked straight to the bar, while the other kids and their parents got a table and sat down. The parents had asked for us to order them some drinks. When the bartender took our order, she asked for my ID, which is normal because I'm only 22 but I definitely look younger. She also ID'd my 56 year-old dad, and his even older friend, which was weird. Then she asked who the other three drinks were for, and said she needed to see IDs for those drinks.. bizarre, but we walked over to the table and got their IDs. No problem. One of the parents had gotten a mixed drink of some kind, and she told her son to smell it - it had mint or something in it. We had noticed the bartender staring at us the entire time we had been there. She saw the boy take a whiff of the drink, and instantly ran over to our table, and demanded his ID. He told her he wasn't 21, and didn't have his ID with him. She said she "watched him take a drink" of the alcoholic beverage, even though he clearly had not, and that they "had it on camera". Mind you, this is an old, dark bar, and there were no cameras in sight. We reminded her that, even though he had not, in fact, taken a drink of the alcohol, in the state of Ohio, it is perfectly legal for a minor to drink given their parent is with them and has purchased the drink for them. The bartender said that she "didn't care" and that she abides by the laws. Mind you, she is the only one working here on a Friday night, more people at the bar are waiting to be served, and she is focusing on us because a minor smelled a drink. She went back to the bar and pretty much stared directly at us the rest of the time we were there. To say the least, we quickly finished our drinks and left nearly immediately. Very very rude. Will not be returning here. UPDATE: To manager (Alex) - in case you didn't read my review thoroughly, he (the minor) did not take a drink, and the bartender repeatedly and rudely accused him of taking a drink which was quite simply untrue. He was sitting at the table and smelled his mother's minty drink when the bartender raised her voice at us and demanded his ID. read more

If you're looking for a great bourbon cocktail north of the river, this should be on your list! They have a great menu of bourbon drinks (and other types of drinks I may add!) and I would recommend any of them. One in particular - their take on a mint julep - is such easy drinking I can have more than one without feeling weighed down. Not on the menu, but their bourbon smash is my favorite thing to order. Also, all of the bartenders are super nice and knowledgeable, so if you just let them know what you like, they can whip something up! Been to Wiseguys twice now and have had two very different experiences. The first was for my birthday where we had reserved the mezzanine above the bar for myself and my guests. It was a pretty awkward setup but we made it work and it was nice to be separated from downstairs where it was super packed and busy. Unfortunately, they do not offer table services for drinks so we had to fight through the crowd to the bar to get our drinks and order our food. The food was at least brought up to us when it was ready which was nice. The second trip was a Sunday evening. There were a lot less people and we were able to snag a seat outside on the patio. We brought up our pizza and then headed to the bar to order drinks. I think I waited longer for that drink this time than I did the last time which made no sense since there were less people. Seemed like the bartenders (who were very nice and everything) spent more time goofing off than making drinks. I also must add that none of the drinks were are as good as they were my first time there, everything tasted dramatically different which takes a point for consistency. Of course I'm sure that I will be back; I love Goodfellas pizza and it's always nice to have a place to grab a drink with it. read more
