Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon around 4:30PM, this place is hopping! It was expected as the parking was full and this is a senior favorite spot in the area. The restaurant was clean, service was great as always and though busy, we were seated pretty quickly as the establishment is quite large with lots of seating. We weren't super hungry so we got an app platter and 2 entrees to share. I forgot the name of our waitress but she was so kind. She found out that hubby and I were going to split a 4 piece dark meal, she split out the plate with our own mash and gravy...and also cut our Texas toasts in half, without us asking. We always get the chicken gizzard and livers here and would be down to try livers and onions at some point. This place has a good hearty meal and consistent great service. My wife and I took our two grandchildren to this restaurant while on vacation and we all loved it. The restaurant is super clean, and the service is top notch. The food was fresh and hot definitely hadn't been seating under a heat lamp. They are known for their fried chicken but my grandson had the grilled trout and it was awesome. The chicken is cooked crispy and juicy not dried out like other places. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good home cooking. read more

This is one of my very favorite restaurants in the Denver Metro area. It is owned by a family, they treat you like family, they have family food with something for everybody. Their chicken is beyond amazing, their fish is beyond amazing, their homemade soups are like grandma used to make. I just can't say enough good things. I have always been greeted warmly, received exceptional service, and now that I live a ways away, I still will drive over an hour to eat here because yes, it is that good and yes, the experience makes me feel that happy. Fresh, hot fried chicken with the chicken gravy gives it just that extra goodness. The chicken itself, I don't think it is really seasoned, but the chicken gravy brings it together. The service is really on top of it and nice. The restaurant itself looks like it has been around for sometime and popular with the locals. The mashed potatoes were nice and buttery, but the french silk pie was okay. By the light bake and how easily it broke, it looks like it was frozen. I would only come here if I wanted fried chicken. I came here with my family and we all loved it. The restaurant is so cozy and all the staff is very welcoming. They make you feel like you're having dinner at a friend's house. The chicken was perfectly fried with a light breading and very juicy meat. My husband ordered the fish and chips. I can only assume it was very delicious as he did not even offer a taste. Both our kids loved the chicken. Very fresh delicious food. For desert we tried the apple pie a la mode. The pie was perfectly sweet to accompany the ice cream so well. The last time we were here was maybe 15 years ago or longer but it is just as we remembered it. Be prepared to step back in time to the 1950s. The service is courteous and they have a loyal following of people that keep them busy on the regular. The food remains ~average comfort food for the geriatric crowd. The fried chicken is slightly better than King Soopers because it isn't over seasoned but definitely more expensive. I am certain it is to cater to their base clientele but the reprieve from sodium was welcomed. Expect packaged made gravy that overly congeals with instant mashed potatoes, frozen and canned vegetables, hoards of deep fried appetizers, cottage cheese with fruit, etc. They serve their meals with a piece of thick buttered toast that people love but it just seems like wasted calories. Raising Cane's does something similar. This is wildly popular but we don't partake. We have only opted for takeout. read more

The times I don't wanna cook I sometimes like to head to this place. No nonsense tasty food. The vibe is nostalgic, it seems to be aware that geriatrics like to hang out and there's nothing wrong with that. Old people love, good food at a good value. it's a place where our families and friends like together. I love their fried chicken dinners. Where else can you get gizzards it seems to be a favorite around here. Haven't tried baked potato here but maybe next time. We split French silk pie the last time here and there are other appealing desserts. Maybe it's past its prime here. The staff is really friendly however the dust on all of the decor, sticky tables was not as appetizing. My biggest thing was the food tasted extremely blend. The mash potatoes were definitely instant potatoes. The yellow gravy is not everyone's cup of tea so I won't be going into details of it. (Since I haven't had that before in my life. I don't know what it's supposed to taste like) Back to the food though; you get better quality of chicken at Popeyes. If you do end up here go for the coconut shrimp. read more

I had not been to this establishment in a few years. I happened to be in the neighborhood and just had to pay a visit. The friendly atmosphere is very inviting. I had the pleasure of meeting the granddaughter of the original owners and she was very engaging. I must say I was a little disappointed in the taste of the chicken as it wasn't seasoned and when I asked if the mashed potatoes had gravy I was told no but they had gravy for sale in which I bought a small tub to my dismay after opening the mashed potatoes there was gravy on it. Very friendly place. Waitstaff is very attentive. Eating a meal here gives you that home cookin feeling. Ordered the chicken fried chicken and i was not disappointed. I devoured it. Plenty of food in this order. Comes with veggie, salad or soup and choice of potato. Side of gravy and honey mustard sauce. Restaurant was very busy and louder than expected but could have been due to location being right in center of room. Bathrooms were clean but had a funky odor to it (no not trying to be funny). I have to say this was a lovely experience. I grew up around here and the last time I was in was probably 25 years ago. My mom loves fried chicken and really wanted to go in but it was going to be 20 minutes before they closed so I wanted to call to make sure we wouldn't be rude. The nicest gentleman answered and said, " Of course not, darlin' come on in". The service was excellent; they were so sweet to my mom who just had hip replacement surgery. They sat us in a booth convenient for her. They didn't rush us. I am a salad person and the dressings were homemade and delicious! They use buttermilk in their ranch dressing and the blue cheese has nice chunks of blue cheese. The shrimp were huge and I should have just gotten three. They were delicious. Both gravies were very flavorful despite other reviews. The mashed potatoes seemed riced to me not boxed. My boyfriend liked his chicken fried steak and mom loved her chicken.
