The inmates are running the prison. I don't know how else to describe this: the service is inconsistent; our server got our orders wrong, and what we were served was cold when it arrived. It's been one disappointment after another here. Our lunch was a disaster. We got the wrong check with a number of cocktails on the bill: we only had a cola each... and had the empty glasses to prove it: our server seemed confused I've met the owners and they're very nice people, but those they leave running the restaurant seem confused as to who is doing what, why, or how. We decided to stop here on our way from Las Vegas to Phoenix and we were glad that we did. The food was amazing and my husband absolutely love the tamales that he is still talking about them to this day. If we ever drive through Wickenburg again, we will definitely stop by for another meal. I do have to say, though that some of their signage I wish was not there. The service was nice as well, you can definitely tell that it's ran by a mom and pop. The only thing I would recommend is teaching the young bus boys to be a bit more personable. read more

Always amazing service, everyone is friendly and attentive, the drinks from the bar come fast and the food comes soon after hot from the kitchen. The food was full of flavor and good serving size. As soon as the plat was empty and set aside someone came to offer to clear it from the table. The atmosphere is relaxed and reminds me of how things were growing up in Arizona through the 80s and 90s. Upon entry, I was barely greeted by a young girl who was more interested in flirting with a guy who was trying to sell something to the restaurant. The service was terrible, only got one drink, not offered a refill once, I was also in a party of Five and not one of us got offered a refill. $6.00 for chips and salsa that was not very good and charged for every serving of chips and salsa and then the meal came out cold and never saw the server again until the bill came. This restaurant is a tourist trap and is not worth the money they charge for the quality of food and service provided. You would be better off going to Filiberto's for less money and better food. read more

Ate here many times before. The Food used to be good, I don't know what happened to this place. We order combination plates when the plates came. I went to pick up my taco right away. The whole thing just fell apart from underneath soggy and this is a hardshell taco. The rice had large hard clumps in it. The beans didn't have much flavor and the enchilada was just OK. And now you have to pay $5.25 for chips and salsa, and a $4.00 refill if you want more. Didn't even give us salsa with our plates. Wow! None of the other Mexican food restaurants in town charge you for chips and salsa. The El Rancho restaurant even gives you bean dip with there's chips and salsa. don't think I'll be going back for a while unless things change. read more

35 minute drive from home but my wife always liked this place for the last 16 years, so for her I never minded taking the drive. We'd also bring our out of town guests here to have dinner and walk around the town afterwards. But tonight we find out the chips and salsa are no longer complimentary and are now $5.50 plus 4.00 for refills? , to quote my better half , "Well, that's the end this place." I mean we'd rather you continue to raise the price of your entrees than take away complementary chips and salsa. You're a Mexican restaurant for crying out loud. After that everything just kind of snowballs doesn't it? Like to the one young lady who asked me if I was finished with my meal WHILE she already had started removing my plate from the table, No.. I actually wasn't done but "Thank you for asking ?". My wife and I live in Wickenburg and we would come to this restaurant at least once a week. However, due to medical issues we haven't been here in a few months. So we decided to come to here for lunch. Boy has this place changed in just a few months. You now charge for Chips and Salsa $5.50 really . You are that desperate for money. And you charge $4.25 for soda you are the highest price in town. Your prices are higher than almost all the other restaurants. Then to make things worse my wife went to the ladies room and that was discussing. And I guess you feel you are more important than customers when you park your white truck in front of the restaurant and Your food has no taste . I'm giving this 2 stars. We have been dining at this restaurant for years. Today, 12/27/25, we dined and received a new awakening. The free chips and salsa are no more. Now they're charging for them. The complimentary gift of them was better. My husband gets the steak fajitas. Today he noticed refried beans weren't homemade anymore. They tasted that of number ten can. One of the salsa they brought him tasted awful, not fresh. The menu has gotten smaller as well as portions. Seating is scrunched together. If a table of 4 is sitting somewhere they try to seat you right behind the family but how are you to get to the booth? Jump over the family? We used to like Anitas cocina but now will need to not go back. Also weve always gone up to front register to pay. Now pay waitress. Now they also charge extra if you use debit card which is same as using cash. My main concern is menu gets smaller each time we dine in. Portions are now smaller. Our server was incredibly friendly and did a great job, but sadly the food didn't come close to matching the service. Up-charges on nearly everything, especially the expensive first bowl of chips (over $5 with $4 refills) came out as stale, broken crumbs. For three people without drinks, the bill was over $80, and the food tasted no better than fast food. The flavors were bland, meat was tough, and overall it felt like a big step down from how good this place used to be. It was nearly empty on a Saturday evening in late October (an indication of how bad the restaurant has gone downhill when Wickenburg comes to life at this time of year). This is my first review on yelp. I am not one to complain about businesses raising prices now that inflation is on the rise, but "nickel and dime-ing" your customers is probably not going to turn out great. I was in around 1pm on 10/7/2025. And your restaurant was empty. Strange for around lunchtime but I thought I lucked out. I asked for a recommendation on the menu and ordered the waitresses suggestion. As I sat and waited another family was sat, their drinks and chips and salsa were promptly brought out. As I was waiting for my food, I wondered where my chips and salsa were. After getting my waitresses attention in an otherwise absolutely empty restaurant she told me chips and salsa are no longer complementary. Chips and salsa are the reason people come to a sit down Mexican restaurants, they drive drink sales and the salt eases heat for most people. I walked out of your restaurant with my food order cooking. I created a yelp account to just leave this review. Way to be penny smart and dollar foolish. At least tell people up front that chips and salsa are not complementary so folks are not waiting and wondering why the only other table in the building is getting their chips and salsa. I drove and gave my business to Filabertos. If I'm not going to get chips and salsa with my sit down meal experience, I'd rather be closer to the highway and get right back on the road. I was so excited to try this placed today as I have been wanting to try it for a couple of years when going to Wickenburg. Okay as most of you know who follow me here - I am a HUGE lover of Mexican food. The service was really good and fast when we got there. Iced Tea took a while but I did get it without having to ask for it. I ordered the Quesadilla with the works - basically they add enchilada sauce otherwise, it comes with the normal fixings. First it came out with beef or pork ( I couldn't tell)- I asked for chicken. Ok, just a little mistake - except for the fact I hate both of those items. She handled it quickly but now it came with guac - didn't the first time (should of) and it comes as a burrito so do not think you got someone else's dish. I didn't care for that. If I wanted a chicken burrito - that is what I would have ordered. It wasn't great overall. Cheese on top wasnt melted and that bugged me too. Flavor was weak Hubby ordered some chicken burrito and all of the things like - lettuce, cheese beans were under the burrito not in it - We basically had the same thing but ordered two totally different menu items. He too said "not the best" Salsa was good - chips were not refilled, drinks were not refilled, we were never checked on but again, I liked the people who work there. They are very aligned with my belief system so that also excited me. Always love supporting one of our own but we will not be returning. There are better places for sure read more

Stopped here during Goldrush Days. They had a limited menu. Along with that they had no service. We went in and got water right away and then we're not served for over 10 minutes. In our section there were only 3 tables active. We ordered a combination plate with rice and beans and an enchilada and taco. We had difficulty seeing the enchilada. The rice and beans were thrown on the plate. We observed regulars with chips and attentive serve. We had someone who gave us drinks, another who dropped our plate off and one that took our money. After reading all of the reviews we were hesitant to stop for a late lunch but we were hungry and walking by. I think the 1 star reviews are way too harsh. Notice most of them are from people who only have a few postings. Many also noted the conservative political signage so they were already biased. "Trump, Lake" etc. That didn't both us at all....staying neutral here. Food was good, not great. Taco (shredded beef) was actually very good with a good portion of meat and cheese. Cheese enchilada was ok but again full of cheese which is good. Machaca was good, needed more juice but again a lot of meat on the plate. The beans were just ok but we liked the rice. Service was also good. Two negatives - The chairs are old and filthy dirty. And I would say they need some background music because the place is eerily quiet, except for the conversations they you can hear. read more

We ordered a carne asada burrito $13.75 . It was mostly rice and beans and the meat was terrible (what there was) not to mention it was very small with a crappy side of pico. We just experienced the worst dining experience ever! Horrible service and the food was horrendous! We ordered chips, salsa and guacamole. We were asked if we wanted a side or dip. We wanted dip. After waiting at least 10 minutes we asked the bus girl if she could get our guacamole, chips and salsa. She apologized and told us the waitress never told her. When the guacamole came out we were shocked. It was nothing like the picture. (False advertising) What the hell is this? It was a bowl of cheese, tomatoes, olives and onions over about 2 tablespoons of avocado. The chips were stale and the salsa, right out of a jar. Horrible and unable to eat. I should have ordered a beer because the cranberry was bad in my drink. Then the food came out! HORRIBLE!! Taco salad, the meat was discussing, my taco and chili relleno had so much gravy that it was running over the sides of the plate. The beans, rice and taco were swimming is some type of gravy and made the entire meal impossible to eat!!! We asked for our bill. $75.00 for crap! We left and went to El Ranchero Mexican restaurant and had a fantastic meal for $55.00. The food was HOT, TASTY and the service as always was excellent. My husband and I love trying new restaurants and although we visit Wickenburg often, we've never tried Anita's. Got seated, waited 10 minutes to order drinks. They now charge for chips and salsa - okay, some people abuse it so I get it. We get our food and it was just okay. The chimichanga was very basic and had no sauce on top? The taco salad again, very normal, could've made the same thing at home. No music playing, we had to speak softly so other tables didn't hear our conversation. Overall, a 3-star experience. Drove over from Surprise after hearing their add on the radio. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. No chips & sauce before meal which is customary at Mexican restaurants. Ordered a strawberry margarita. They added a $2.00 charge to ADD strawberry syrup. (Flavoring was terrible-Did not like the drink at all). Ordered Chicken Fajitas. They charged me $3.75 to put chicken in it. Shared our meal which was another charge of $3.00. So, for one order of Chicken Fajitas were were charged $44.08. BEWARE. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PLACE TO EAT. read more
