I had no way to attach a response to Christina, so I'm responding to her by this update review…read moresection. I must say her comments are a bit inaccurate. The 2nd appointment i told her how fantastic everything was & wanted same result. I was surprised how easy my hair was & needed little attention (see 1st review). On 2nd visit, I Explained briefly since I was not a known client yet only visiting for initial consultation & 1st time haircut. But the 2nd cut, the hair was too heavy on the top (I told her on 3rd visit) and the nape of the neck on one side was laying funny after I went home & after couple days washing & tried to style. I trimmed the nape and cut more off the top & sides myself and looked so much better and laid right when I finished. I told her that on visit #3 before starting, which she commented didn't look like her cut. And we chuckled. On my third visit, we consulted briefly going over what I changed & why. I DID tell her I was disappointed. Also on ALL my visits I mentioned I wash, scrunch my curls. I walk in with wavy & slightly curl to my hair & nothing hanging in my face. I rementioned to be careful of the thinning top section in back because if too short it sticks up funny. Not like a cowlick, but light enough that you can see the thinning & it won't lay right and lifts away from my head too much like a missing layer underneath. 1st visit hair I walked out with my curls more in mind than 2 & 3. Even said, I don't like hair in my face, but visit 2 & 3 I left with it straight & hair in the face. This 3rd cut, that back area around the crown is too short, unmanageable & doesn't lay right, sides are also cut so it lays in very strange directions & I have to use curling iron on all my head which is what I've gotten away from for a few years now. Even with curling iron I'm having difficulty getting sections to even lay correctly. Im fighting my hair daily. Only thing is wait for it to grow & not cry. The nape was again laying funny after washing & air dry & after trying for a week, had to have my husband cut to try & fix. On my first visit Christina analyzed my hair & growth directions which made me feel comfortable & she worked with that pattern & that's why it was perfect cut & I seriously had little need to fuss with it, see 1st review. I was amazed & felt I found my person. However, going 3 times & only 1 result that I can be happy with & not trim later, I can't return. I never mind stylists that dry & style your hair a little different, its expected. BUT it's the cut that counts. And once you get home, go to your routine to wash, scrunch & for me let it air dry, that's when you know how the hair is truly reacting & that stylist worked with your deficits & oddities. I was truly disappointed that this didn't work out!! It happens, But also do NOT say I didn't tell you how I was unhappy after the 2nd cut. I DID! & if you recall, I took the blame saying that maybe I didn't explain as in depth as our 1st session. Our 2nd visit discussion was shorter & maybe that was our downfall. I tried to recreate my verbiage as best as I could with everything I thought I said the first time, but apparently we both missed the mark for 2 out of 3 cuts. My hair didn't end up as satisfied as 1st & worse by cut #3. Going to someone new is anxiety for me because of thinning & loss. I had to resort to doing my own cuts since COVID & this was my 1st experience back in a salon in 5 years. You did take a lot of time with me, you tried (for that I've changed to 4 stars), but my hair is obviously little more of a challenge.

The pros: Very nice, pleasant staff, especially Jane (also…read morenamed Juan?). I did a digital perm and my hair is VERY stubborn. I had warned them about this beforehand, but no one ever seems to really take me seriously LOL. In order to not damage my hair Jane took an entire 5 hrs! working on it, and was very patient the entire time. This was both a pro and a con - pro in that my hair did not come out fried, as it often can, but con in that 5 hrs is a really long time to be spending sitting in a hair salon! They made sure I had water and a bathroom break, which was very considerate. Jane seemed very knowledgeable and specifically did different treatments for the parts of my hair that hadn't been permed before vs those that had. The top layer took very well. The cons: Again, 5 hrs... I very much appreciate them not wanting to fry my hair, but maybe a little speeding up could have been done? Also, while the top layer permed well, the bottom didn't really take - see photos. Also, just FYI, but there is no validated parking. It wasn't terrible to pay the garage, but just something to be aware of. Overall I really appreciated all the time and patience they took, to specially alter treatments for different parts of my hair, and try to not damage it. If there is some kind of middle ground to be able to do the perm and have it take completely in all the hair, and with less time, that would be ideal.

I got a digital perm at Hair Design Zone with Reika at the end of March. It took me months to let…read moremy hair grow to get rid of all the bleach. I can't express how excited I was for my digital perm. The hair is something so important for me, and having little kids I just wanted to have a hair that looks nice and it is easy to take care of as mom's life can be pretty busy. My first appointment took about 6 hours, at the end of it during the last wash, Reika looked really confused. The perm did not work and the curls were "gone". Despite spending so many hours there I was very polite and understanding as I know sometimes mistakes happen. She asked me if we could reschedule to fix the issue and I said ok. Initially they rescheduled for me to come back a week after I got the digital perm, but I was worried about my hair health and I suggested maybe we wait 2-3 weeks until we try again, so we did as she agreed that would be best. After 48hrs I washed my hair and I noticed that on the top part of my head there were some parts that looked really damaged, but I just assumed that it was part of the process that went wrong the first time and that it would get fixed during my next appointment. I did take a photo on April 1, which was just after I got my perm to record the top part issue on my hair. Today I went back for the second appointment to fix the curls and I showed her the top issue as well. For my surprise I was accused of having done another treatment elsewhere, which I DID NOT. I have done enough hair treatments to know that I should not do a treatment on top of another like that. The end result of all of this is that now I have damaged hair and was faulted for it, I was called a liar and accused of something that I have not done. Again, I know that mistakes happen and we deal with it, the problem is that in this case no accountability was taken and on top of that the client got blamed for something that DID NOT HAPPEN. I see a lot of positive reviews from clients that had their service with JJ, maybe I just had the wrong stylist. The final overall experience was so negative and upsetting. Do not wish anyone to ever go through the same thing. Was really hoping to be super happy about this experience but unfortunately turned out completely opposite.

It did take a while (8 hours to be exact), but if that's what it takes to get my hair looking amazing then so be it. They have plenty of snacks and drinks available or you can always order food for delivery. Went yesterday and it was super quiet. She even rescheduled my initial appointment when I needed to cancel (with notice). I showed up to my appointment 10 minutes early which gave us more time for the consultation. Once the appointment started, she told me she hasn't taken new clients in over a year because the wait for her existing clients became too long. I asked, "so how did I get here?" She said she didn't know and that maybe I just emailed her at the right time. When I left my appointment with frizzy hair (I guess she doesn't flat iron hair or normally work with curly hair) she told me I could reschedule a new appointment next season or next year, it's up to me... I'm sure she is far more friendly and helpful with her existing clientele. I'm also sure I won't be returning but that is probably alright with Amy.

I had shoulder length hair and wanted a graduated bob. Most hair stylists haven't been able to pull it off at all, but Melanie did an incredible job! She worked on my hair meticulously for an hour and 15 minutes and angled and thinned it absolutely perfectly!!! Best haircut I've ever gotten! One tip for anyone who goes- I should have booked it as a "transformation haircut" because I was changing the look of my hair so much.
