She was so friendly, kept us laughing, asked the teenagers to do silly things (and they complied!), she worked great with my elderly deaf parents, and she would give us pose ideas so we wouldn't have the same ole same ole pics you always see. She sent the link for the pictures a couple of days ago and I've already ordered Christmas cards, and am planning on ordering a bunch of enlargements to frame and hang on my walls. Here's a breakdown of my experience: The consult: Emily reached out to schedule a consult call shortly after I submitted my inquiry. The consult call was informative and Emily answered all questions that I had. She was very personable and easy to talk to from the get go. And she really set the tone that this would be a very empowering experience for myself. Following the consult, Emily sent over a questionnaire to be completed prior to the shoot. I loved that the questionnaire gauged the level spicy I was comfortable with, asked about what I love about my body, and even about the things I wasn't fond of. The day of the shoot: call time was at 9 AM. I was greatly warmly and already loved the vibes Emily had set. Hair and makeup was done by Yana, who was as amazing as Emily. MK Boudoir also has a client closet that was very size inclusive! So if you're a plus size girly like myself, I promise you there's something in there for you before starting the shoot, I was given a mini modeling lesson. I was quite anxious going into it because I had never been the most confident girly. But Emily gave me a pep talk reminding me that this was going to be an empowering experience. Let me start out by saying this is a review of the conpany, not my photographer. She was lovely and…read moredid a great job. Tl;dr: Don't use this company if you value your money and honesty. If you want them to add things that they feel like to your order, ignore photographer safety, and charge your card before letting you see what they're actually charging you for and then insist that they can't alter it to fix errors - this is the place for you! First, scheduling. It was easy enough at first, but when the day came, I woke up barely able to talk and having trouble breathing. Obviously I was worried this could be COVID, so I called the company and they said of course I shouldn't go to my shoot and that they would call the next week to reschedule since my voice was barely audible and I needed to go to the doctor. Fast forward to the call back, they say without a doctor's record showing I was diagnosed with COVID that I forfeit my deposit and have to pay a new deposit to reschedule. I told them I was really sick and the person before hadn't told me that, and that as it turned out it wasn't COVID, but I had no way of knowing that until my test results came back the next day. I told them I'd be happy to provide the test results but obviously they would be negative as it had turned out I didn't have COVID. I had to speak to multiple levels of associates, and finally they told me the best they could do was reschedule me and not charge me a new deposit fee, but I still forfeit the original one that was to be used as photo credit. I told them I'll do it but specified that I am not happy and can't believe they would rather risk their photographers' health by allowing sick people to go to their shoots than rescheduling them. They told me they had to because my deposit had already been used to pay the photographer, and I asked how that could be if I was told my deposit could be used as a photo credit. They hung up. Cut to the viewing and ordering session. The website says photos are $69 each for digitals, and that they have a tiered system where buying more photos means they cost less each. Great, I budgeted to get about 5 photos. In the viewing session, I'm told it's actually only $69 if you get at least 30 photos! I told them I'm very disappointed and feel misled since their website makes it seem that photos are $69 each or less, and 30x69 is a lot more than 69. Turns out individual photos are $149! She sarcastically told me that she was SORRY that I felt misled after winning a free shoot. Moving on to my order. I had gotten down to 3 photos I wanted to buy. The rep read me the standard all sales are final notice and asked me if I was sure I wanted the photos on the screen in color with basic retouching for a given price. I said yes. She said she ran the card on file and had sent me a form to sign stating whether or not I wanted my photos to be kept private or used for marketing. Upon opening said form, I find that she charged me $10 per photo for level 1 premium retouching and $5 per photo for color. I asked what these were for since I was okay with the pictures with the free basic retouching and she had said color and black and white were the same price. She told me it was the line item for the first level of premium retouching, since most people want it. I told her while I had seen it on the original sample write up, when she asked me to confirm she did not mention it and I did not want to pay extra for premium retouching on photos that were great as is. She said it had already been sent to production, but if I wanted them natural she could put in a note not to do it. I said why would you charge me for it and not do it? I want the money taken off because they don't need retouching. She continued to repeat that she had already charged my card and sent it to production and that I had agreed to it. I asked how I had agreed to something I didn't know she was charging me for, before I was shown my receipt or final contract to sign? She said since I said I understood all sales were final, it was done and over with and I owed them the money and signed contract. So I got scammed out of $75 for retouching that I didn't want and never agreed to, and could only get 3 photos because of the misleading pricing info on their website's budgeting page, and the rep kept rudely and sarcastically saying how SORRY she was that I didn't understand standard photography procedures.

My only "criticism" and the reason i didn't give 5 stars, is the photos are VERY costly. The price of the photos are not disclosed until the review and purchase appointment, so it was a bit of "sticker shock"! I did purchase some because well, I really like them! Everything and everyone I worked with was very professional and I have no criticism for any of them. I don't know if I knew the prices up front if that would have swayed me from doing the shoot, but it might for someone else. I see a lot of other reviews that the main complaint is the cost; so perhaps just something for CYS to consider disclosing up front. Otherwise, very pleased with the whole process.
