When I walked into the place, it was a blend of a Chinese and a Japanese restuarant. I had some hot sake, a Hawaiin Roll, Spicy Yellowtail, Sicy Salmon Roll, and a Wasabi Lobster Roll. Never had a bad experience here. I always get big servings that are all delicious. My favorite is the shrimp fried rice, but I've tried many of their sushi rolls and have liked all of them. A major foodie might find this place average, but I go here for comfort food and to feel good. One time I saw multiple people eating/drinking and throwing up on their table due to being drunk. I went there last night and I can't say that I was very impressed. As anyone who knows me, read my profile or even heard me talk in passing (apparently, I can't go 5 minutes without talking about sushi or some kinda of seafood dish, I'm told), know that I love sushi. (I was literally coasting and people behind me were pissed }:)..haha) It was 10:00 so I ducked into Wok N'Roll (which I agree is a weird name, I can't say If I like it or hate it, though). First off, I stood at the counter for a while looking at a menu. I wasn't greeted or anything, even though there was someone working behind said counter. She was moving something, but she looked at me a few times. I smiled and she continued what she was doing. So, I moved into the restaurant and asked the sushi chef if it was time enough to sit and eat. Instead of answering me, he called - in his language- for a waitress who reminded me what time they closed. I ordered Chirashi or something like that, which is just sashimi on sushi rice and miso soup. I thought that wouldn't take too long to make and as hungry as I was, it wouldn't take me too long to eat. But, from my history of working in a restaurant, I knew the deal and went ahead and ordered it to-go. I didn't exactly feel comfortable demanding that I eat there, but I really wanted to since I wouldn't have anywhere to eat until 11 and it was only 10:05. I would have been out of there by 10:20, really! But anyway, on to the food. It was actually really good. I had a nice selection of fish, even some tamago (I think that's what you call the sweet omelettes), and that fake crab stuff that I love, even if it doesn't taste like real crab and one lonely, weirdly bland-tasting shrimp. The rice was really good and had a bunch of rice vinegar in it, which I like. The miso was huge! I wasn't expecting so much, but it was good with lots of tofu chunks and nori. I approved of this meal. I knocked off 2 stars just because I was starving and cranky so I didn't really like my service. I'm going to go back during dinner or lunch since those specials seem great. Website advertises a flat per karaoke room fee, not hourly. nowhere on the website does it say PER HOUR. only on the signs in the room does it tell you the true rate. this is false advertising. we made a reservation based on this thinking and at the end of our 3 hour stint we were shocked with a $105 bill. sure your signs say the true rate but when you make plans based on the web rate and go into it with that thinking it really dampens the minimal fun you do have. second, not only was the room not worth $35 anyway (worn our furniture, old TVs, terrible sound system) but the karaoke machine is impossible to figure out without a Phd in star trek panel operation. not only that but the selection of music is absolutely terrible. they have a ton of artists with chinese character names that no one knows and the pop artists they do have are lacking in selection. paid a gratuity for what? we had to go to the bar and order.... no beers on tap, food is mediocre. the list just continues. save your money by using the spotify lyrics feature on your computer and have a karaoke at home with cheaper better food and booze. oh and when i confronted the management about the false advertising on their website they said i should have read the sign. sorry but i'm disputing this transaction and getting my money back. victor Q, sorry but this isn't a lie, check your website and fix it if you don't want people to point out false advertising. read more

Was VERY disappointed. I called 2 weeks ahead to make a reservation, was told over the phone I was confirmed, but when I showed up with my group they said there was no reservation and couldn't fit us in anywhere. They then tried to imply I had never made the reservation because there was no credit card on file- BUT I WAS NEVER ASKED TO GIVE ONE! I used GrubHub to order my meal for lunch today. I really wanted some great chinese food and Ive been here before, so it should still taste the same right? No. I ordered General Tso Chicken, Egg Rolls and Wonton Soup. The General Tso Chicken taste good on the outside, but when you bite into it you immediately realize that it is not chicken. A-OK is a perfect rating for this place. Located Downtown China Town, Wok & Roll exceeded our expectations. From the outside of this place you would think maybe they would serve you cat instead of chicken, but the Orange Chicken my Husband says is the best he has ever tasted! And that's saying something. We had the general tso chicken, combination fried rice and crab wontons and were satisfied. FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE FOR KARAOKE. This place was *fine* until we were ready to check out and leave and were faced with the abysmal nightmare of figuring out the check and its additional charges. They tack on an 18% gratuity to the already exorbitant fee of $45/hour without telling you in advance, and when we approached them and accused them of false advertising they not only threatened, but started to call the police. After arguing and getting a 10% bill discount, they shafted us again by claiming their machine couldn't handle more than four credit cards at a time, creating another giant mess for the ten people in our group who all only had credit card. Thank goodness for Venmo. For the record, the 18% gratuity irked us because they offered NO SERVICE OF ANY KIND. We ordered beers and picked them up ourselves, and they did absolutely nothing during the three hours of karaoke we sang. Had the bubble tea here, quite honestly the worst I have ever had. I am a self proclaimed bubble tea addict and have tried many subpar bubble tea places but this one is one you should seriously avoid. I was persuaded into trying this one out because of some positive reviews, and maybe those reviews were accurate in the last, but at least in its present condition, this is a venue you should definitely NOT go to. Not only was the taste of the tea utterly despicable, the boba's texture was disgusting. To quote a friend's description, the texture reminded us of "boogers". Moreover, the people inside were clearly not ready to serve bubble tea and took a very long time to gather the necessary materials. You know a bubble tea experience is going to be subpar when the vendor does not even offer original bubble milk tea, but this was way worse than any of my expectations. I stopped by Wok N'Roll (WNR) a couple of weekends ago when my brother and his girlfriend were in town. We were looking for some quick sushi and, finding myself in the midst of Gallery Place/Chinatown, I was willing to go anywhere that looked presentable and was not Sushi Go Round. We sort of surveyed the area for a while and finally decided on WNR after noticing the constant flow of patrons at a relatively off hour. My brothers girlfriend is a vegetarian and, luckily, WNR has a decent selection of vegetarian dishes. After scanning the menu, we decided on the spicy sushi combo (spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll and spicy CA roll), an order of tofu lo mein and an order of vegetable egg rolls. Overall the food was good. Not five star, but then again the prices are not five star. I think I like the spicy tuna at Cafe Asia better, but this was acceptable. The lo mein was quite good and I would not hesitate to order it again. The egg rolls were just that....egg rolls. You really can not screw up an egg roll and once you slather hot mustard all over them, the searing pain in my sinuses makes the quality of the actual egg roll almost irrelevant. The waitstaff was attentive without being overly intrusive and the decor was Asian-esque, but not over the top. I don't work close enough, but I would love to stop by sometime for their sushi happy hour; although they have a similar happy hour at Cafe Asia so I might opt for that given the choice. read more

The order took one hour 15 minutes, 40 mins later than the original estimate at the time of order. Worse, they sent me a text message saying "Congratulations, your order will get their early!" When it was 10 mins later than the revised estimate, I called the restaurant, they lied and said it was on its way. The driver was not outside waiting for me. 3 minutes later the driver pulled up. I asked the restaurant to refund the tip I paid and take half off the check- I only asked for half off! The restaurant said no but they would give me 10%. They obviously need the money more than me, and I won't be lied to over and over by a company I patronize twice a week. They can keep the money and it is the last payment they will ever get from me. Don't spend it all in one place. Never again. Stay away, no accountability or willingness to take ownership for blatant error. Went here this evening to use one of the two groupons I purchased not long ago. The inside was surprisingly nice, although I must state that I saw one of the waitresses walk over to the restroom area (which is right in the middle of the restaurant) and spray perfume in the air about 1 minute before sitting a patron there...thought this was odd. Anyway to the food. The miso soup was great, fried crabmeat wontons way too greasy and not really very much flavor at all. I got 3 different sushi rolls. The tuna lovers roll was ok...nice fresh avacado, but it wasn't spicy at all (despite being supposedly spicy tuna), I got a soft shell crab roll that was solid, and something with a cooked scallop on it that was very scary looking and I couldn't eat more than one piece of.
