Food was pretty good. Great for authentic Chinese food and hotpot. Loved the eggplant dishes and noodle dishes! Fried rice and shredded pork dishes are awesome too

Bones. Big hunks of spine, small slivers of sneaky choke traps and everything in between. From 1 order of Crispy Duck.

Overall: Bland food that I would be embarrassed to have made for my friends (and I'm a crap cook). Reviews saying "authentic" are full of it, as is anything complimenting the ambiance/atmosphere. 1 star ambiance. 1 star seasoning. Crispy duck was plain duck on white rice. Not deboned. No sauce. No flavor- very bland. Completely inedible unless you drown it in soy sauce. You have to spend more time trying to not choke on the bones than actually eating it (see photo- this is all bones!!). Pad Thai was sugary sweet, not savory. Looked pale as raw spaghetti. Also bland. Vegetables with rice was reportedly bland as well. See a trend? Lo mein noodles had a nice full texture... and substituted out flavor for grease. Tastes nice on bite #1, tastes way too heavy by bite #3. Egg rolls were fine. Hard pass.

Interesting shoebox style Chinese restaurant. Just looks like another run off the mill money laundering front for the yakuza or some shit. Better than average Chinese food (which is below average). They gave me no soy sauce, just a fortune cookie which I didn't bother to open, lord knows what that shit says. Short rib special was honestly too dry with far too intense flavor of sodium/msg. Maybe I'll come back next time if I get high enough.

Great new authentic Chinese restaurant in Ames. After one of my favorite Chinese places closed (Taste Place), I was worried this new place would be disappointing in comparison. I was pleasantly surprised that it was just as delicious! It's also in a great location right on Welch. We ordered the chef special sour soup stewed beef (the name isn't very appealing, but don't let that fool you). It has lots of pieces of thin fatty beef, noodles, and cabbage in a flavorful chili broth. We also ordered the fragrant fish dish which was fried with chilis. Lastly, we ordered their yushiang eggplant which was covered in a sticky sweet and savory sauce. If you're looking for something a little less adventurous, they also have a nice sized American-Chinese menu. I didn't order anything myself but saw a table that ordered off that menu and it looked good. I'm already anxious to go back! Treat yourself to a meal here then go across the street to grab a bubble tea for dessert.

Barely any beef just beans sprouts in the dry hot pot. $25+ rip off alert.

Asked for the fatty beef only hot pot and they come out with something different. When I asked them why, the owner (assuming) made it seem like it was my fault. I understand and can sympathize when English is not your native language but if you don't understand my order just ask again. Food was bland. Back to Joy Mongolian Grill I go for real Chinese food.

I will not be waiting here again, i literally found a piece of metal in my food WHILE I WAS CHEWING. Thank God i didn't swallow it because i would have had to go to the ER. disgusting.

We had the Baja Shrimp Taco special last Wed and restaurant week started so we had the entire Thai tasting menu on Friday. It was fabulous - please check it out. It is Midwest hot, not Thai hot. I would agree with some other posts that the lighting in some areas makes it very hard to read the menus or see your food. Updated lighting would be helpful. Disappointed to say the least, I came in the back door not realized there was a correct door and was rudely cut off by other patrons at the front desk. I had to wait several minutes to be waited on and the place had plenty of spots. Maybe because I was a party of 1... they didn't seem to care. After I shared what drink I wanted, I learned they were out... fine no problem. I asked about the Thai specials, the waitress was clueless. I had to ask for the restaurant week menu and ask about the specials. She said they looked good but couldn't describe them and hasn't tasted them. I got the salad on special, but get this... they were out of the main restaurant week special... such a let down. The ambiance was mixed, one corner was a cute date night the other corner was crying children. All dimly lit and outdated decor. The whole experience was off, I ended up leaving after my one drink and salad. I hope to give this place a second chance sometime but hope they aren't out of dishes and I can get a trained server. Maybe another night for sure!

At Lunch time, I didn't feel like a sit down waiter restaurant, nor did I want to go into HyVee and choose a pre-wrapped Sammy. So after a little Yelp searching, the West Street Deli came up. West Street Deli is just down the street from my Ames Barber (Troy) and just as close to Mother's Pub. The street is its own little business District, and feels far away from Lincoln Way. I ordered a Cajun Tuna Melt which was unlike any sandwich of this type that I had experienced. It was well prepared and was flavorful in many ways, including a little kick at the end. A beer would have gone well with this, but I stayed with water, while comfortably seated by a window within their dining room. A very pleasant experience and a for sure future visit.

A tad sweet for me but overall this was a great app. Slice of Sourdough: delish. Chicken Japchae: since my mom has celiac disease, we were very excited to see this on their menu - dining out with her can be a challenge. Especially at a place specializing in breads! The only unfortunate part about this dish is (I think) they forgot they already salted the chicken and salted it again...and then again. I'm not one to say something is too salty, I love my sodium but this was mouth-puckering salty. Inedible, actually, but the noodle dish itself was SO GOOD that she set the chicken aside and ate the entree. Crème Brûlée: I also couldn't leave without ordering a crème brûlée because there are some really bad ones out there. This did not disappoint. ZERO regrets but if you love Dubai chocolate then you know there are some discusting renditions of this in the market. However, the Dubai chocolate tort at Provisions Lot F is . Staff was helpful. Ok, for the pros-they have a good bread bowl. Always. I don't know anywhere else that has them. I ordered the Mac&cheese in bread bowl, the tomato soup and bbq chicken and cheese. Picked it up and headed home. First impression, looking through bowl that was supposed to be Mac&cheese-looks like mashed potatoes with bacon on top. Decided to figure it out. At best, I THINK the macaroni was shell shaped? But couldn't really tell, as it was mushy. It had a good cheese taste, just very mushy and I like eating pastas one piece at a time, and like to savor the texture along with the cheese(also, the app never deducted that $2). Now, for the tomato soup. Kind of an odd taste, seems to have some spice, that I didn't notice right away. I'd prefer a cream basil tomato soup instead. So, my preference isn't at Panera. As for the sandwich, it had too much BBQ sauce on it. Kinda drowned out any other tastes in the sandwich. Many people absolutely adore Panera. Unfortunately, my tastes don't favor it.
