I only order Wokcano when nothing else is available for delivery as they are open later than some other spots in town. I had never gone in to the restaurant until today. The service is best described as adequate and the experience is devoid of positive points that could be made. The staff are friendly, somewhat attentive, but maybe the kitchen/sushi bar is overwhelmed as it took 20 minutes to get four slices of salmon sashimi served to us and we were sitting AT the sushi bar. It took almost 40 minutes to get the 3 items we ordered, and it might have been the first sushi restaurant I've been to where you don't just order your food with the sushi chef standing directly in front of you if you sit at the bar; still had to order with the waiter for some reason. The most annoying part of it was that by the time we got our food, it was the happy hour menu and the meal could have ended up costing half of what it did. I guess that's my fault for showing up right before happy hour started, but at that point I was ready to just pay the check and run away from here instead of make a big deal about the long wait. I had the greatest experience at Joaquin I'll Valencia this evening! An old friend and I decided to stop in for dinner, and were seated in Chase's section. Chase is an exceptional server! He made suggestions, was prompt with our orders, and our food was delicious! Chase's manners were on point! I have never had such good service in a chain restaurant before! This is a tough review for me. As a former ex-valley-ite, relocated to Santa Clarita, I really miss the quality selection of restaurants we had there. I am always very excited to visit new venues that open in Santa Clarita and was especially excited about Wokcano. Now I know if you want really good sushi, it probably won't happen at this type of restaurant, so I kept that in mind. I also kept in mind the challenges of a new establishment opening in the SCV....since there aren't too many options up here for dining and drinks places get SUPER busy. That being said, I tried Wokcano 3x just to be sure. Our first visit was as expected concerning the wait-over 45 minutes. Challenge was, I KNEW they were understating the wait. basically verpromise and undeliver. My husband and I chose to sit at the sushi bar. Good thing to, as my friends waited almost 2 hrs for their table. The sushi was decent. Not great, but decent. We tried rolls, sushi and Mongolian beef. The beef was very tender and yummy. I also had the Pear Martini, really good and pretty strong. Expensive though, $13! Better catch a slight buzz on a drink that expensive if you ask me. LOL. 2nd visit, same wait time, so we found seats in the bar. We were having a couple of drinks and good conversation. About 1/2 hr in, they called us for our table. GREAT! Not so fast, they made us WAIT in another line for over 20 minutes. What? Why get me off my seat where I was spending money and enjoying myself to tell me my table is ready and then make me wait.Call me when the table is clean and set. The manager assured us this was a temporary thing. Again sushi was decent and the cooked dishes were consistent. 3rd vist, we made reservations for 6. Got there 10 minutes before our time were told to stand in the line as the table would be right up. 40 minutes later, still standing....WTF? We could have grabbed a drink and waited in the bar. More money for them and a happy client. Management did give us free edamame and soup for our wait. Again food was decent. Double Kung Pao, mongolian beef, pad thai, chicken curry and some sushi. Only dish that was mediocre was the curry. Long review summary: nice staff, ok food, good drinks but pricey and seemingly more focused on their needs rather than the clients! read more

Certainly wasn't the worst but won't be returning. The staff wasn't so attentive while I attempted to order food to go. Standing there laughing and talking to each other while I'm standing there waiting for help. The food wasn't great either. I had a roll which didn't taste so fresh, the black pepper steak was not appealing to look at and didn't taste that great. The ore dishes we had were ok but not too flavorful. This place is actually really good. The service has never been a problem, and if there was any problem with your order, they are quick to fix it. Some of my favorite dishes are the braised beef short ribs. It's sweet and the meat is fall off the bone tender. There are lots of whole pieces of garlic in the sauce that is a great compliment to go over the rice. Ordered this many times and it's always been oh so good. The sashimi salad is another favorite. The dressing and the amount of fresh sashimi is perfect. A must try if you are a sashimi salad fan. I've tried the tofu with chicken and that was really good. The sauce that the dish comes in is really good. It's light and very flavorful. Love it. There was a dish that I would never order again. It was the Korean short ribs. It was very dry, no real flavor and so chewy. It was the worst Korean short ribs I have ever had. Not a fan at all. Other than that, this place is one of my favorites. I have gone atleast 5 times and each time has been awesome! I wanted to review my last 2 visits, it was the same group of people and we reserved the back room for an event. The first time was for my sisters going away party and the second time was for my birthday. Reserving the back room is free and it seats up to 14 I think and it has an awesome view of the bar. Everyone loved the room and Id get it any time I am having a group of people come together for any celebration. Both times our servers were very friendly, so accomodating and the food/cocktails were delicious. The prices are a bit higher than I like but for the atmosphere, the back room and the service I would do it again in a heartbeat. I wish I could remember our servers names for these events but theyve slipped my mind. Both times we ordered a sushi sampler plate, the fish was fresh and it was a huge portion that came with soup and salad. Our friends have tried 2 diff steak dishes and both were amazing. This is a 'hip' hangout area to meet with friend and colleagues. Most come here to be seen and hang out. Cocktail drinks and appetizers to be had. Sorry, but the food is ok and I have tried most of it. The menu is pricey. You really are paying for the location and atmosphere. I have been here several times and not because I wanted to but because I got out voted by other members in my family. Friends brought me here. Located in the mall, there's plenty of parking but you might not find a close spot. We were a party of eight but we didn't experience a problem being seated on a Saturday night. I opted for the Pad Thai...good enough and plenty to share! Overall, everyone seemed to like the food, me too. Prices are about what you'd expect being located in the mall...so a little high, but too bad. This place is great! We were told we had a 55min wait but were seated after 30mins. No problems there. Service was very friendly. You could tell most of the staff were newbies. The most inconsistent place ever. Months ago I wrote a review boasting about this place. Food and service was the greatest. I returned a couple more times and still, I left happy. Then unfortunitely, my new favorite place went down the tubes fast due to a bartender named Richard. I have never received such horrible service. He was rude and condescending. He wanted to chat and pour his buddies drinks instead of attending to paying customers. When I spoke to him and asked questions about specials, he gave me the impression that he really hated his job. Ive eaten here twice. The first time for lunch. I had the salad( 2.50) and the moo goo(8.50). Both were delicious. I loved the dressing on the salad. The moo goo was light and flavorful with a light sauce. Much better than those heavy white cornstarched sauces. I also liked that I could get brown rice. The second time, I came for happy hour with my partner and a friend. We ordered 2 orders of tempura, 2 of lettuce wraps, edamame, chicken dumplings and a tempura shrimp sushi roll. I want to give this place 3 stars but I've decided to not be so generous. I wanted sushi and this definitely fit the bill. Never being here before the menu is overwhelming with all the choices. Interesting how they have a mixture of asian foods; japanese, sushi and chinese? Whatever works. I'm sure I'd try it all if I lived closer. First of all, it's our fault for ordering stuff that was mostly deep fried. Not bad choices; but hunger took over good thinking. Calamari - tasty good with the tentacles! I can't remember all the rolls we got; but the peacock was very disappointing out of all them. Nice presentation but too much rice overall. We got some baked roll which was tasty but rich in almost too much flavor. Another roll with shrimp tempora and finally a more traditional fish roll that was really good. I had ordered a salad but the waitress never brought it over. They weren't that busy; but at least she didn't charge. I'd like to come back someday and have a better experience to up my review. We come here Evey now and then. We used to love this place when they first opened. Their fried calamari was too good to pass up. We have been ordering that every time we take a visit. Lately, we have ordered the calamari and it is not the same from before. The seasoning has changed quite a bit, it is not as crispy and spicy as it used to be and they've been serving them in smaller portions. My kids love the California roll. This is a late review: I ordered delivery a few weeks ago, which I have done before. After this last order I remembered why I stopped eating here whether it was dining in or takeout. I ordered the maki combination and the house salad. The salad was going bad and not only could you taste it you could see it. I moved on to the sushi but that was worse. I get that avocado browns after a bit so I wasn't worried. But the sushi tasted bad...like it wasn't fresh. I have only visited Wokcano once but liked it. It is similar in style and food to PF Chang's. The Orange Crispy Chicken is good but not as flavorful or spicy as at PF Chang's. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was wonderful. This dish is served with Honeydew melon at PF Chang's. The outdoor patio is nice- not cramped, and the chairs are quite comfortable. It's a shame to see what this restaurant has become. Allow me to begin by saying, I used to attend this restaurant many years ago, at that time, the food was delicious and left me wanting more. Yet, I just finished dining here for lunch and wow has it changed. The ambiance is clean and attractive, exactly what you'd expect from an Asian restaurant of this stature. Along with this, the staff was friendly and attentive to my needs, always checking in with a warming smile. Yet, for a restaurant to shine, the food must be memorable to the pallet, this wasn't the case for me. I ordered Tuna Ngiri and the Lemon Chicken. The quality of both of these dishes was sub-par. The quality of the tuna was decent, thinly cut and puny. I absolutely love sushi so I was satisfied with the decent quality. The chicken, however, is the real reason I'm writing this review. The Lemon chicken was 17 dollars, remember that. Presentation is a key factor in pleasing a customer, this dish had similar presentation to that of a waffle house. The portion size was absolutely outrageous too, two chicken breasts the size of my face. Along with this was a salad, under the chicken, soaking up all their juices. So incredibly unnecessary and unappetizing. The texture made me frown, a single tear dropped down my face. How can chicken be so encased in bread but still be labeled as chicken? The bread crust to chicken ratio was 2 layers of bread to 1 small layer of chicken, I spent 17 dollars on bread crumbs. On top of this all, it wasn't even Lemon chicken! It was chicken with one single slice of lemon on top! Who has the audacity to call that lemon chicken?? I feel disgruntled and frustrated! It's a shame to see how low the quality of this once amazing restaurant has fallen. Might I suggest a more pleasing restaurant such as Lazy Dog or McDonalds. Wockano?
