We've been to the Wolf Creek Bar & Grill in the Sun Mountain Lodge a few times; twice this year. Every time we've been there, the service has been excellent, especially the last two times, when we had Payton as our server. He is truly an asset to the Sun Mountain Lodge! The food is almost as good as the service. Yeah, people have written that it's a little pricey. Maybe. I mean, maybe the entrees are $1-$3 more than somewhere else. But you're not really going there for discount dining - you're going there for the amazing view. Plus, where else are you going to eat in Winthrop?!? Honestly, a burger at Sun Mountain Lodge is $17; one at the Old Schoolhouse Brewery is $13 or $14. That's not much of a premium. Anyway, our food was great, as usual. My wife had an excellent Twin Lakes (French) Dip ($17) and I enjoyed the Crab Louie bowl ($20). No complaints! Again, Payton was an excellent server. He recommended a great 'warmer' drink and the cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake was awesome, and I have to write that the warmer I had - the Monte Cristo with Baileys, Kahlua, Grand Marnier, coffee and whipped cream - was probably one of the best warm, alcoholic beverages I've ever had. We'll continue to make the Wolf Creek bar and grill in Sun Mountain Lodge a destination whenever we head to Winthrop!

First time to Sun Mountain Lodge and we tried the dining room but it was filled at 5pm opening by reservations. If you want a great view with dinner reserve your seat. If not you can dine in the bar and grill. Food is the same in either side. Susan the server was great. She was on the spot with everything and had a great personality. The food was fantastic. Meatloaf Wellington was excellent and every dish that floated by was well presented. Great place to eat but get there early.

This restaurant is located inside the Sun Mountain Lodge. I didn't stay there, but wanted to go for a nice lunch with a view. The food was okay, overpriced. The service was slooow! There were only two other tables at the time I was there and took over 30 mins to get my order, and after looking around for the server while watching two others servers talking and looking at me, I finally got up and had to ask for my check. Maybe a nice lodge, but definitely overpriced and slow service.

View is spectacular. Food is good. But $18 for a 6" pepperoni pizza, that looked like it came from a box in the freezer, is shameful.

This restaurant is part of the upscale Sun Mountain Lodge and well worth the 17min drive up the mountain from Winthrop. I was seated in a cozy booth directly facing the window front for the full experience and very much enjoyed the PNW cuisine as well. I ordered a Manhattan, the tomato caprese, and the ribeye steak. This was all top quality from the cocktail to the steak and I admire the attention to detail and creativity of the Chef. Of note, the steak was delicious, high quality meat, correctly prepared. Service was superb; the Dining Room will definitely become my new go-to restaurant when in Winthrop!

To be safe, I ordered a Caesar salad, thinking what could a kitchen do to a Caesar salad, I will tell you. The lettuce was not hand cut or torn, the croutons were the kind you buy at Safeway. When my dining partner asked to have a small Caesar side salad to accompany her meal, we were told it was impossible , so I asked for a small plate and shared my salad. Our other dining partner order 1/2 roast chicken and was served an airline breast, covered in cream sauce. The dessert was just as bad. Come on people! The Valley has a beautiful Farmers Market and wonderful meats and pasta made fresh and available to everyone. Be like the Valley or there's no reason to go to Sun Mountain, we all cook better at home.

The prices truly seem very reasonable here. I am a sucker for a good homemade meatloaf and the have one on the menu so that's was my choice this time. Beef & pork, wrapped in bacon then smothered with beef gravy and grilled peppers and onions. Sides of mashed potatoes and green beans studded with bacon pieces. The meatloaf was top notch, not mushy with lots of flavor and the added deliciousness of the bacon. It was a unique presentation with the peppers and onions which went well with the loaf. The mashers were delicious but the generic gravy (also on the meatloaf) took away from the dish. And the beans were perfect. This dish at $22.00 is a real deal imo. My DW chose the crispy chicken salad which is one of her faves. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. The greens and veggies were fresh and crisp but the chicken was more like a chicken flavored tofu. Mushy, with little to no flavor. Pretty close to inedible. It was almost all left on the plate. When i mentioned this to our server, she was very apologetic, telling me I should have told her immediately (my mistake) and then kindly took the cost off our bill. If you are in town looking for food or drink, we feel this is an option worth trying.
