A wicked HUGE "AW-WOOOOOOOO" to Wolf Den! Some things in life are NOT too good to be true. The Den is one such example. My One and I saw STRYPER and MIKE TRAMP here. No where else in my life I have been able to see major acts for FREE and get GREAT seats and sound quality and drink booze and chill up close and personal with major rock stars. It is a teenie open area located right in the center of the casino. F**k arenas and theaters and hassling with on-line crap and spending major bucks for a lousy and aggravating night trying to park your car and deal with BS security crap in order to sit a mile away for atrocious sound quality and droves of people, etc. The Den has NO bad seats because all seats are no more than 75 feet from the band. And you are free to go on the floor and stand right in front of the band. Go to The Den! Get here early to get a seat or just show up whenever. You don't need no tix! The Wolf Den is the greatest! For my 5000th Review, I will post about one of my all-time favorite music venues in the USA. The Wolf Den is located in the center of the casino floor at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, which features live performances of regional and national music acts on certain nights (Thursdays - Sundays). You must be 21 or older to enter the Wolf Den (they may scan your license) and admission is free, first corne first served with rows of limited seating on the outer rounded edges of this venue and standing room (sometimes chairs) in front of the stage. The acoustics and sound system are superb. It is best to arrive here early so you can get in with lines forming early for popular acts. Once the Wolf Den is at capacity, they stop letting people in and you are stuck trying to watch the show from the casino floor or bar. I've enjoyed countless live music acts with full band, mostly country and rock musicians perform here over the years including Jake Miller, Carly Pearce, Cassadee Pope, Nick Fradiani, Hannah Ellis, Alisan Porter, Alana Springsteen, Tenille Arts, Cam, and many more to name. Most live concerts begin at 8pm sharp or 7pm (Sunday show) and last 75-90 minutes. Every seat in this venue is a great seat! However, I usually stand in front of the stage most of the time for the best up close view of the concert. There are bar staff, who will walk around before the show to take and serve drink orders. There are restrooms in the Wolf Den, so you don't have to leave and come back in. Many times (not always) after the show, the artist(s) may come out to meet fans and sign autographs at the merch table to the left side of the Wolf Den stage (used to be right side several years ago). I've met many artists here and made lasting memories along with several regulars & friends in attendance. I've traveled close to 140 miles each way after work on a Thursday or Friday or took my time getting here on the weekends, just to enjoy some free live music in the Wolf Den. After I'm done, I will grab some food at one of the many restaurants at Mohegan Sun and some Krispy Kreme and may also play some slots too. Awesome cozy spot tucked in the middle of the casino. A few minutes to walk down from the Indian Summer Garage. Went to go see The Castellows since they were finally having a show nearby in a smaller venue. After reading the comments online it said to lineup 3 hours before the show. Arrived early and there were only a handful of people there. Not sure if it's because it was a Sunday night or a beautiful day on a holiday weekend. They let us in at 5:15 for a 7pm show. Not too bad. Got inside and snagged a seat. A few seconds later there was a waitress taking drink orders. A nice welcomed surprise. There are private bathrooms near the stage so you don't have to leave. The venue itself has a great view from pretty much anywhere. Front row seats are "reserved" for the high rollers. The Castellows were fantastic! This is a great place to see a free concert! read more

Great addition to the state of Connecticut. There are a ton of bands that I see passing through the area that stop here and play for free. Every time that I stop and see a band here, I am putting $30-$50 back in my pocket. I appreciate that. Over the years, I've seen Ace Frehley, Blues Traveler, Queensryche, Slash, Scott Weiland, Lee Ann Rimes etc all for the friendly price of absolutely nothing. For the bigger shows, skip the line go get in. You can hunker down around the perimeter and watch the show standing up. This doesn't bother me. I do this sort of thing at Toads Place or College Street Music. The shows are from 8 pm to 9:30. It's not like you're standing all day at the Warp Tour or Ozzfest. Smaller gigs are easy to get into. I've certainly sat inside for some tribute acts and indie rock bands like Bear Claw. My advice for the bigger shows is settle in like 7:15 or 7:30 and you'll have an excellent view for a free concert. read more

I had never seen a show at the wolf den and had no idea what to expect. I think they should be more specific on how it operates because everyone seemed clueless,including me LOL.. First off,I made reservations at Margaritaville for 3pm to have my birthday dinner with my family. We wanted to check out the wolf den because I also was planning on seeing Chris Lane at 8pm. Walked by at 2:30 and the line was already forming in the casino to get in to the show. It is first come first serve so there was no way we'd be able to go eat and also get a good spot in the den. My mom being as awesome as she is said to just go on and eat while she holds my spot in line. A little after 4 the line was already at least 100 people deep and the venue only holds around 300 people. Thank god she saved our place I would have been devastated. Finally around 6:30 pm they began checking Id's (21+)and the line started to move. Once you get through the bouncers, a hostess asks how many in your party and are given the option of standing room or a seat. I opted for standing room because I wanted front row..which I got. This is as close to a stage as you could possibly get, I literally had my elbows and drink resting on the actual stage. Nice that a waitress comes around taking drink orders so you don't even have to move. There's a restroom basically attached to the wolf den to the right so you don't have to venture off into the casino. I like how they have it set up,everything is convenient. Once the show started it was amazing,great lights,sound and Chris puts on a ridiculously good show. Touched his hand a few times and he came over to me and gave me a high five on top of being sang to *sigh* The show lasted almost 2 hours and I had a blast. The only bad side to the wolf den is that it being a free show, you get trashy girls that want to push their way up to the front and not care. Some big broad shoved me trying to take my place, so I got security and had her handled. The wait in line also sucks, I would have spent $$$ to lock down a seat but thats not an option. My advice if your planning on seeing a show, get there early if you're a die hard fan and want to make sure you're up front. If you just want to see a casual show then you can see it from the outskirts in the casino. I will go back for sure but just with a better game plan now that I know how it works. read more

We always have fun at the Wolf Den, but tonight we totally hit the bonus. We left a lovely dinner at Tao and headed toward the casino - where we heard the band playing in the Wolf Den. They sounded pretty good - turned out it was Foghat! Like really, Foghat! It being pandemic time, we caught the last two songs of their show from the floor. This was my first experience at the casino or Wolf Den. I really enjoyed how the Wolf Den was smoke free because the moment you walk into Mohegan, the smoke consumes you. Wolf den is a very small arena but the seats were comfortable. I wouldn't recommend putting a drink in the cup holders, they were so wobbly and just couldn't be trusted in my opinion. read more

In whatever altered form they may take, I cannot wait for the days of live concerts to return. I love going to the Wolf Den for concerts. They have an excellent variety of acts they bring through and the shows are FREE! I have seen Filter, Everclear, Scott Weiland, Salt-N-Pepa, and most recently Reel Big Fish. It is a small venue surrounded by slot machines and tables. Brings back lots of memories of those tiny clubs we would cram ourselves into during high school. Unlike then though, most people at the Wolf Den are very respectful and you can get pretty close to the stage without worrying about losing an eye or suffering a concussion. Although, I have seen a few different set ups for different concerts. A few of the concerts had space in front of the stage for people to gather. A few times there were just tables set up in that area. Now in the age of Covid, who knows what configurations for such events will look like now anyway. The Wolf Den is also not enclosed, so you can hear the music in the casino and you can watch around the outside if you cannot get in. I will say that drinks do take a while to get when you are inside. There are quite a few people and only a few servers running around and trying their hardest to get to everyone before the show starts. The drinks are overpriced for what they are, but let me also remind you that the show itself is FREE, so I think it evens out in some ways. I will also add that I agree with JLynn C. regarding the accepted waiting "policy." If you have never been to a show there, it is a little confusing. Since it is a free show, seating is basically first come, first served. The line starts at the entrance of the facility and usually they try to organize it around the slot machines in a "somewhat" organized manner. Depending on the show, you may want to get there one to two hours before the gate opens, which (if I remember correctly) is an hour before the actual show time. Other than the line direction, there are no real rules to the line, so having one buddy wait in line while the others grab food, drinks, or try their luck at the tables is quite common. This sometimes throws you off when you are also trying to calculate your probability of making it inside for the show. All in all, I think it is fantastic spot and I have been able to see quite a few great shows here. The biggest tips would be to get there early and bring a friend because having a runner for drinks and donuts is a plus if you are there for an hour plus. read more

This is a great place to see a concert. It's such a small and intimate setting so no matter where you are, you're guaranteed to see a good show. The only downside is that they only allow a small number of people inside, so you have to get there really early and stand in line. The bigger the performer, the longer you'll have to stand in line beforehand. That being said, I've seen some great shows here. It's 21+ so that's a nice plus as well. I definitely recommend seeing a show here, even if it's a lesser known artist. read more

BAIT & SCREW : You've heard of Bait & Switch? Well this is Bait & Screw. Stay away don't get fooled, or Screwed. Yes they have excellent acts, yes it's Free, yes it's a nice tiny venue, yes you will most likely wait in long line, and yes you most likely will NOT get in. We read tips saying doors open at 7 and get there early. We arrived around 6 and got on an already long line (120-150 people?). Stood there (God forbid they put any seats near waiting line) till about 6:45 when the line started to move in short spurts. With not that many people being seated.After a couple of these small movements forward a worker came out to announce that there was no more room and that we could either stand around the outside or continue to wait in line and hope that if by 8:15 some of the people with Reserved (U can only get by being Comped by Casino) don't show up. It being shortly after 7 this was not an appealing option as my back and legs were already feeling it. What made it even worse was going up to check out area around the Den - only to find the Den itself almost completely empty. Only a spattering of people were in there. The Den was easily 80-90% empty . When asked workers how they could say no more seats they explained that those were RESERVED (again only available to those Comped high rollers) and that they usually came at last minute. Later at the Comix club several workers told us that almost all the seats are Reserved and that only a small handful get in by waiting in line usually starting at 10 in morning, and for bigger shows sometimes the night before. Sorry there's no one I want to see that bad. It's an awful setup. They lure you in make you wait on lines with almost no chance of getting in. I don't know why there aren't more reviews on here warning people. There were certainly at least 100-150 angry disgusted people at last nights Big Daddy Voodoo show (and they are nowhere as popular as many of acts at the Wolf Den. read more

The Wolf Den is a wonderful place to catch a free performance from top entertainers. The theater is located inside Mohegan Sun in the Casino of the Earth. There is a full service bar and the venue has a state of the art sound system. The seats are comfortable. We have been to a few shows at the Wolf Den and have enjoyed them all. I like the way they offer so many free shows. As someone who loves C-list 80s hair-bands, I've been enjoying lots of free Wolf Den concerts lately. The only problem is that seating is very limited, on a first-come, first-served basis so there's a good chance you won't be able to get a seat inside without waiting in line for quite a long while. If you can't get a seat, the best place to stand for sound-quality is directly across from the stage, near the gate. If you stand off to the sides too much, the sound gets dampened and muddled a bit - lots of standing on your feet, but a great way to enjoy a free show. read more

I've been to a few shows at wolfs den and I don't care for the venue much. It's situated in the center of Mohegan sun surrounded by slots and smoke (I hate cigarette smoke!) it's 21 and over and the first time I went I could not find my ID and they were not letting me in. So once you get to the door you have to check in with the door people and they chose where you sit. I hate that! It doesn't matter if there are spots available in the front, if they feel like putting you in the elevated area they will. The times I went I got the worst spot in the house. One plus is they always have the artist you're seeing with a full band. So if you're used to seeing the artist acoustic you're in for a treat with an actual band. It's free so you have to get there early enough to ensure a spot. I've never seen an opener and I like that. They don't pressure you to buy drinks or anything. If you get there late and the show is sold out don't worry because you can see the stage by standing around in the casino. read more
