There are a lot of good restaurants and a few great Northwoods places to eat, but after exhaustive searching, "The Wolf Pack Cafe" is my #1 choice. First great food, especially the Perch special - wow! But after dozens of meals there, its the consistency that is their key. Whether they're 12 deep waiting to get in and open for seating, I always get eh same great quality. Anywhere else I'm too impatient to wait 20, 40 or more minutes to sit - at the WP, we pull up an outdoor seat and talk to people who all know of this secret gem. Kathy & Joe make you feel like you're with family and the wait staff, Barb, Tammy, etc. just continue that feeling of home, not just a business. This review is about service not their food as I wasn't allowed to try it. So due to the influx of increasing COVID cases in WI we wanted to get food to go. They had their menu online which some in the area don't have. We called and were told that we could not order as they had too long of a wait list in house. They turned down business. Top notch small town breakfast restaurant. It was right across the street from our hotel, Hearthside Inn. We gave it a shot and were not disappointed. The employees and owner are all very friendly. The food was great, the service was stellar, and we couldn't leave without buying one of their porcelain mugs. Just a heads up: they don't accept credit cards. Bring a personal check or cash. It's a minor inconvenience: banks love to charge fees on small businesses like this, so I can't hold it against 'em. read more

Our breakfast was very good! We went at the end of a weekend of snowmobiling. As recommended by others on yelp we tried the pancakes and the hot maple syrup. Yes the pancakes are flat. But they are delicious! I also tried the banana bread French toast which was very tasty, but heavy! I ordered two pieces but one was more than sufficient. I adore Wolf Pack. We make it a point to come here every single time we are in the area. The food is amazing, the service is fast and friendly, and while it is small, the restaurant is cozy and inviting, so much nicer than some of the other places in the area (St. Germain). The owner personally greets everyone at the door, does a wonderful job of keeping track of everyone who is waiting, and does a great job getting everyone in to eat. The pancakes are wonderful, and try as I might, I can't replicate them at home. As big as a plate, thin, crispy at the edges but tender in the center, and taste great. A couple helpful tips: -Building is small so come early or be ready to wait a little (lots of seats outside to wait) -Everyone from your group must be there before they will seat your party. -They only accept cash (I think checks as well)- no credit cards read more

I can only base this review on one breakfast here. Cute place, very small, very friendly and prompt servers. That right there is enough to make me come back - good service. S.O. had the homemade corned beef hash and called it some of the best he'd ever had (and he's had a lot!). I had cranberry pancake (one), which was huge. I have to disagree that these are some of the best pancakes ever, because the flat, thin cake for me rated as one of the weakest I'd ever had. Boo. What this place lacks in space, it makes up for in quality food and friendly down home service. I was seated at the bar and had a tough decision about which of the menu items to select. Lots of good options, but I settled on a burger. HUGE. If you're not that hungry they offer a smaller size, which is what I should have opted for, but I enjoyed every bite. Perfectly cooked, fresh bun and home cut fries with some mandarin orange slices to top off the meal. The breakfast here is amazing! We frequent the northwoods from Minneapolis and would prefer no other place for a great balance between a hearty egg or pancake meal-or even a lighter yogurt parfait! This is a must stop for us any time we are in the vicinity of St. Germain. Though the place maybe small and busy, it is totally worth the wait! If you get there early enough you will be seated right away. Everything that we have tried there has been excellent, and the coffee is always flowing. We love that they had space for us to leave all of our snowmobile gear, as well as parking across the road for our sleds. Trust me, you will not be disappointed! This place is a family favorite, everyone gets out of bed to go to Wolfpack. My personal favorite is Joe's breakfast, but you really can't go wrong. The burst of berries pancake is not to be missed, get one on the side and share with someone. They are perfectly crispy and fluffy at the same time. There will usually be a wait, but it is worth it. I would have given this a 5 star review but I had a mishap with a waitress who told me I couldn't bring in my bottle of water. She said people make a living off of purchasing drinks at the store which is understandable. She then told me she couldn't give me a to go box for my pancakes, but the manager gave to me instead. This place isn't bad, but it's nothing special either. The food is ok. Mandarins are served as a side instead of fries (which are extra) but they come out of a can, not fresh.
