I wanted to like this spot more than I did. It's very clean and seems well organized. But the main reason I went there was to sample their prepared hot food. There was no hot food prepared and no explanation as to why or when it would return. That could be just the day I chose, but my bigger problem is that virtually nothing is priced in the entire store! There's stuff out on tables, no price tag anywhere, no nothing. For some things in the cold case there is a piece of paper stuck on the side and if you can match up your item to the paper, you're in luck. But there are things on the shelf that aren't on the paper. My philosophy on this is "If you can't be bothered to price it, I can't be bothered to buy it." I refuse to go find someone to ask a price on every single item I might want to buy. I'll leave instead. When asking the friendly staff member at the register about the lack of hot foods, there was a prepared item there that looked good so I broke my own rule and asked. His accent made me believe it was one price, so I decided to get it, only to find out it was twice what I thought I'd heard! I bought it anyway, a package of four aloo paratha, which was really tasty but much spicier than I had expected. I may go back to see if the hot foods return (there is a digital menu above with prices already) but unless things on shelves are priced, I won't be shopping the rest of the store. read more

I had no idea that this place existed but found it thanks to Yelp. This is a pretty good option for Indian groceries without needing to travel all the way to Sunnyvale. They have an Indian food deli as well but I agree with some of the other reviews, it looked dried out and not very appetizing. They do have a good spread of groceries and it's clean. This review is for food service only. I picked up a 3 item combo from their kitchen - rice, chicken curry, butter chicken. I think it needs an overall uplift. The taste was lower than average. Rice was dried out so they gave me some rice from the back, but it seemed to be refrigerated and then heated up. The curry didn't taste any better. If you doubt your taste buds and want to give it another try, the quantity isn't much. I saw the chef specifically counting two chicken pieces to put in each curry and filling the rest with curry sauce. If you have a normal diet, I'm letting you know that this won't fill you up. I will not recommend the prepared food from this place. read more

They recently expanded and renovated this branch! They offer a great selection of items, with nearly everything you might need for Indian cooking. Their in-store kitchen serves a variety of Indian cooked items at pretty reasonable prices like samosa chat, dosa, etc. Overall, a good Indian grocery store worth checking out. read more

I got sick twice eating here, rice dried out. Most of the curries are stale. I went with lot of excitement, since its close by. Places like India Cash & curry, you can see the chef making food right before your eyes, within an hour there is fresh curry, here they are really stale. I want to encourage the management, start with limited menu and keep them fresh and tasty. Last thing you want is your customers getting sick. Good luck. read more

Top Tier Restaurant Quality Kabob for Reasonable Prices The best kabob I have had in years, which is saying a lot because I buy kabob once every 2 weeks for my family. The kabob is juicy and comes with tomato, lavash and rice, where as in most places the tomato is separate and costs $3 extra. I will not buy kabob anywhere else from now on. This is by far the best in San jose. The prices for persian products in the grocery section are also way cheaper than other persian and arab super markets. read more

The place is clean and organized, the staff is very polite and friendly, the prices are reasonable, and they even have advice about coming back for fresh samosas for my party rather than buy today and serve tomorrow. They could have easily sold me the samosas today but chose to build a relationship. Highly recommended. Nice to have Indian grocery store so close by now, produce prices were fair for area, slightly more pricey than india cash&carry and apna bazaar in sunnyvale/Cupertino. But it is a much smaller store ofc. I tried the dosa from the kitchen, decent but very very oily. Sambar had lots of oil too and was pretty good for flavor but was a little watery for my liking, and dosa was soggy from amount of oil used. I came into this market wanting to try their Koobideh plate. I went to the meat section and saw a screen but it wasn't really a menu with prices and options, so I just asked if they were serving kabobs and wanted the koobideh plate. Shortly afterwards, the gentleman came out with my food ready in a bag. I have to say it was better than what I was expecting. Definitely will come back again for their plates. It was thoughtfully packed with sumac, lavash, utensils, yogurt cucumber, and pickled veggie salad? It came with so much and the portion was huge! I have to say that this is the best compared to Rose Market and food Bazzar market which also offer kabobs. The shop was small but tidy, produce wasn't the best quality but they did have various special items and a ton of spices that aren't from China like Asian markets. They did have a small selection of honey. There was three varietals from Local Bees' Orange Blossom, Sage, and Wildflower. Though it said Northern California, I decided to give it a try. It was $8.99 for a pound of Orange Blossom or Sage and $7.99 for the Wildflower. I did notice there's no phone number to contact them or order food in advance. That's probably the only downside. The very first time I took idli combo, the idli's were hard and the dough wasn't fermented. Today I ordered the same combo but it was a wastage of money. The tomato chutney was way too salty and could barely be eaten, idli batter was either over-fermented or it went bad - they basically had a sour smell and left sour taste in the mouth too, the vada was too soggy. They didn't even bothered to hear food or provide it fresh. As soon as we sat down to eat, the oil was the only thing you can taste in the vada, seemed like they were prepared long time back and like I said nobody even bothered to heat the food, if not providing it fresh. - I didn't wanted to take any chances with my daughter and hence, we dumped the food and brought new food from another restaurant nearby. - It is so disappointing. - Not a reliable place to eat as expected. read more

Koobideh is amazing! The store has a good amount of persian items. But the one thing that dissapointed me was the chef in the kitchen had his mask under his chin. We are in a freaking pandemic! Why is your chin being covered and not your nose and mouth? The old guy (owner) is friendly but can be a little unprofessional. Hes always sitting at the register eating nuts with no mask. Another issue I have is that they do not provide us with a phone number. How can I reach them about a product availability? I'm that type to call before driving all the way.
